In my opinion Steve is the best guitarist, but he is more than a guitarist, he is such a nice kind of human, although he plays like an alien Steve Vai for President !
Come one people. Do you really think this was a "dual"? It was just a couple guys jamming and having fun playing music. If it was a dual than I'm sure that both guys would have played something a lot more demanding than just standard licks that any basement guitarist could pull off. Just a lot of fun. That's all.
@MegaDehumanizer Dual just means two things or people. You can't use the word dual in a sensible way in this context of two guys playing guitar against each other.
Duel, is the word that suits this guitar battle/compettition. It doesn't have to be deadly fight. Look up more definitions for duel.
Amen to that! The man's got it all; I mean, he's a great player, but he also has an incredible creativity, coming up with original ideas, like turning his young children's mumbling into a song (Ya-yo Gakk), or presenting his Gemini pedal with "a special friend of his", he's not out to show off, but has respect for other players, and on top of that, he has a great sense of humour! For me Steve Vai is the portrait of a perfect instrumentist!
Steve has his pedals and everything as the other people who play only have an amp to go through :P Steve is an absolutely amazing guitarist though haha
Steve is such an awesome guy. :D Man though I'd be nervous as hell improvising in front of him! This guy does a pretty darn good job, and I love his style, but wow this type of thing kind of puts into context how advanced Steve really is as a player. Is he even capable of mistakes or tastelessness? lol
@SanctuaryShred You needed reassuring? Does your emotional state hinge upon your assessment of Steve Vai's technical and musical capabilities? Ha ha! Personally, I know that my life is worth living as long as David Gilmour hasn't forgotten the pentatonic scale.
@mahajohn I didn't ask what you think, nor do I care. But to answer your question: "My statement was intended to portray the "Vai" effect. After watching Steve play for long enough you begin to be desensitized to the amazing spectacle that you are seeing. Watching another person play simply reminds you how far ahead Steve is."
i would run the fuck away :D

And I know you're just doing this to wind me up so I'm not taking this too seriously. You clearly have as much free time as I do
Metallimeister 3 months ago
@MegaDehumanizer Sort of like the duel we're having right now
Metallimeister 3 months ago
@MegaDehumanizer Make a grammatically sensible sentence using the work dual in this context.
The word duel doesn't have to mean a fight to the death. It can just be a contest between two people trying to prove a point. Like a duel of wits
