There's a long delay in the Apple logo appearing. Could be searching for boot device to boot with. In System Preferences, go to Startup Disk and make sure Leopard is selected. That way it doesn't search and knows to boot to that one by default.

Humm... Intel Core 2 Duo is the direct successor to Intel Core Duo and DDR3 is most certainly DDR2 successor... These can't be slower than their predecessors... So perhaps the main memory device isn't fast enough to make a more complex (Bigger) version of the OSX boot faster than it's predecessor (which is probably more simple)... I guess Apple should start using SSD... I assume that the new IMac HDD is as fast or perhaps a little bit faster than the older IMac but not enough to boot first...

The White iMac was faster because it had tiger and the other one had leopard. Even though Leopard is newer, Leopard is slower because it had lost it's speed on intel processers. If you get snow leopard, the speed from Tiger will come back and will be faster than Tiger.

no, imac = overpriced pc. i got a pc with a 3 ghz dual core cpu with 6 gb of ram for about $500 when those two things are slower yet cost over $1000 i guess it costs $500 to draw an apple logo lol

@brickman409 well for me a touchpad is like a capacitive touchscreen - except with the high precision, whereas a traditional mouse is like a stylus on a resistive touchscreen. If I want to play FPS or RTS games though, I prefer the mouse but frankly I don't need it very often. Still deciding which one is better for drawing, mouse or touchpad. Maybe both of them. :P

I think the new one has 2 win coz its just way better and faster and thats usuall for the other one to win coz u put way more programs 2 the new one.. it doesnt really matter if u disable all the programs for the start up the amount of ocuppied memory in the mac will start it up :)

@live4mac the 2009 has a start up problem which has no start up disk so you have to select a start up disk in settings that will make it fair. The disk just spins until it find the HDD or SSD
