  • 160km for 7 hours of charging? i understand this is top notch for electric cars, but people won't use it with those statistics. at least not in america. i know some sacrifices have to be made to go green, and most people are ok with that. but charging for 7 hours after driving for 6 is not going to go too well for every day transpotation. the cost of the car seems ok considering how much tech and work it takes to make these things run. this is really good news but there is still work to be done.

  • why electric cars are soooooooo ugly???

  • @alebufalo becouse ur thinking is ugly mate....there's nothing worng with the car.

  • :56 Mistubish motors ??

  • With a 100 yr. supply of Nat.Gas in the USA, There is ONLY ONE , Nat Gas car being sold.../ie/ HONDA CIVIC ????

  • technology came from the philipines!

  • Electric cars should only be sale on Island like hawaii, or Tahiti because 1 on island its not like you can drive yourself to different island like you do on boats or cruise the interstate from coast to coast like on mainland. and Gas prices on island are now $5.00

  • Great effort on the part of Mitsubishi Motors..but there's two major problems with this car : 1st : price point ; $47 k US too expansive for most western buyers-should be

around $15-$20 K US , and 2ndly : takes 7 hours to recharge? are you kidding me?

Who's got 7 hours on a emergency situation-anywhere? Somehow any charging for

any electric vehicles needs to drop down to max 5,10,20,30 minutes-depending on the distance you intend to drive that day.Max charging time should be 30 minutes.

  • pretty plain looking

  • 21lakh15000 INR... u people are making it unaffordable...., for that money i can buy a car for around 6lakhs and rest of the money i can invest in land or bank to give me money for my petrol car....to run for many many years..... make it economical.....

  • 47 grand I could get a 5series or an Eclass. Smh They always make it so these vehicles are not accessable to public, Jacking the prices up like this is Bs/ For the ppl my ass

  • its good but you have to wait 7 hours to dive

  • WELL THATS STUPID! All that energy comes from burning fossil fuels so it makes no difference except that you get the energy in different ways.

  • The wheel has to be reinvinted to concer the world as it did a century ago for people to notice the future is very different types of transit gas electric and hydrogen. P.S. get well japan for the nation is hurt right now.

  • Go ahead and keep your gas guzzling V8, gross polluter. Your rebellion is remarkable, but you are sadly slave to the "All American" dream (that deems muscle cars as tough guy mandatory). While Nascar would sound pretty wimpy with "quiet as a mouse" electric, H2O, or Air powered engines, these times, they are a changing. I used to hate hippies, but now I realize that they are the true visionaries.

  • Imo, Japan has chance to prohibit the sale of new petrol cars in country. And to allow only new electric cars. Together with this also switch over from left-hand traffic to right-hand traffic...

  • @sideslide23 Mitsubishi still exists, Japan still exists. Japan is not just Tohoku, you know.

  • ????????

  • We suck balls ! and made this car way expensive that you could buy a used car and run it for ten years on gaz and you'd still save money other than buying our over priced car. F U Japan.

  • those cars will be silent and unable to drift....those are not cars ffs >.<

  • bla bla bla... global warming bla bla bla... ecology.... bla bla bla.

    I'll stay with the V8

  • They got milion dollars so they stop produce prototypes so oil industry can run on. Or they just got misteriously killed. Or both. Wtf you ask? why do you think there are no cheap cars on market for sale yet or mass production? OIL OFCOURSE lol

    Please thumbs down.

  • the future is Hydrogen cars !!!

  • Wars have been fought over oil, Japan bombed USA because of an oil embargo.

Mitsubishi made American captured pilots, work in there airplane factories.

Sad that USA auto manufactures, are not at the forfront, only Tesla.

  • Better looking electric cars will sell better.

  • @heartlessvietboy There are better looking electric cars, they're all luxury or sports cars that only sell to the rich or collectors

This is the beginning of something new so of course there will be some ugly models that go the cheapest

  • I don't know why Hybrids and Electric Cars look unattractive to me. Hopefully better looking ones are being built. I will buy one.

  • @heartlessvietboy Tesla Roadster Model S

Tesla company is a pioneer in electric cars

  • @heartlessvietboy i dont go for looks.... i look for a car that takes me from point a to B thats it

  • What is the reason why one should or should not go for looks? Doesn't any car take you from point A to point B?

  • @heartlessvietboy cus some sometimes things are not always what they appear to be.

  • "Sometimes". What percent? Is it enough for you to render all your wants of a good looking car? So is it the good looks, or the bad appearance (assuming bad engine) that you dont go for? Why can't you go for looks, but find something that takes you from point A to point B. Write this, "I dont' go for bad looks, i look for a car that can take me from point A to Point B. What I am trying to say is have you ever asked why someone would teach people not to go for looks?

  • That is sometimes. What if most of the time they are? How rational is that? If you go for good looks yet "sometimes" things aren't what they appear to be, then "most" of the time they are. Which means? If you go for bad looks yet things are also "sometimes" what they appear to be, then "most" of the time their also good. Which means?

    Anybody Care to Enlighten Me??

  • I hope Mitsubishi succeeds with this vehicle. It is true the Japanese are usually not the first to invent technologies but they consistently prove they are more capable of refining and idea, then producing a useful, high quality product at a reasonable price. High quality quality products build long term trust in consumers. Compare GM with Toyota.

  • Where GM EV1.... hahahaha

  • I like japan.I guess they're trying to put out a good electric car out into the market,I'nt say any more.

  • There may be a way the batteries can be recycled, or reused, Nissan are already looking at solutions for that.

Anyway, whatever problems the batteries may cause, surely its better than drilling for an unreplacable fossil fuel, which is then, quite literally, burnt, and can never be replaced!

  • Really that is so clever... but wait... where do the chemicals for the batteries come from. Not so enviromentally friendly when you consider such harrowing facts. Try compressed air cars...

  • i love japan...the best country in technology.

  • More like the country that steal the most technology from others and pass it as their own to zombies like you who kiss their skinny Yellow asses and praise their not-so innovative ways to achieve technology breakthroughs.

  • Fuck you motherfucker. Do I sound like I give a fat ass about what you like you fucking asshole No right so shut your ricers deep up your ass.

  • @lavakava man people need to calm down -_- too much anger and hate destroys people and countries.

  • Did she say 47.000 dollards?

  • 47K is way too high, for electric to be mainstream, those prices need to be slashed in half.

  • Is not $47,000. I Check Mitsubishi's website and It goes for $12,000 for the top-tier model.

  • She got the facts all wrong. Mitsubishi's website have the car for roughly U.S.$12,000 for the top-of the-line model.

  • I that's cool, if they are allowed in the US, they should sell well, they would make for an excellent second car to do errands/commutes in, which is probably 80% of what people use cars for in the city. they can use the gas chugglers for when they are going to visit aunt Lucy in Pasadena, :)

  • I agree. Going grocery shopping or to drop the kids at school. Mitsubishi will be selling a few of them to some government organization in California. But any private individual can import one if they wish. They are street legal because Japan's safety standards are mimic to most FDOT regulations.

  • why not mount turbines on electric cars to recapture the energy from going forward?

  • You are yoking, right? Hybrid and electric cars usually recharges batteries while breaking though.

  • No im not joking. I dont mean huge wind farm ones I mean small ones mounted in the grille or something.

  • This is ridiculous.. When they were first talking about this car last year, it was supposed to cost ~$20,000.

  • This car is an complete waste for the car buyers. It doesn't charge at an instant. The car buyers need an electric vehicle. That can be charge instantly in seconds, not hours. These auto giants of the world. Need to go beack to the design room. And produce an better electric vehicle then this one.

  • Look up Scib batteries 777jeru :)

  • Scib battery? What about this Scib battery?

  • Both the Scib battery and Nanosafe, claim charge times of 10mins,

Nanosafe are to be used in the British Electric Lightning car, to be released this month, according to the Telegraph (UK),

  • Well thats an start. But... They should try to make even better battery. That can be charged in seconds. Since they have come with this particular type of battery (the scib). That can be charged in 10 mins. I'm quite sure they can develope an even much efficent one battery unit. They need to really put an battery out for the consumers. Which will in turn bring car sales back up to par.

  • If you can make charge time just comparable to how long it takes to physically fill a conventional tank full of petrol(gas), that I'd imagine would be good enough... (around 2-3 mins depending on your tank or pump)

One possibility for that is the EEstor capacitor battery, (on wiki), which should accept what ever power you have to give to them... not sure how close they are to making it a reality, but a Canadian car company(Zenn) plans to use the tech next year, seems optimistic, but who knows.

  • Is that right?! I do hope this comes to reality. because this could revolutionized the car industry, very quickly. Its only ashame that the american auto giants. Didn't develope this tech. knowledgy here, in america. These american auto refuse to advance themselves. They have the know how. But they just don't want to develope this type energy. For the entire auto industries, worldwide. They are greedy for money. And this is their down-fall. The european and japanese auto giants are doing it!

  • for the iMiew there is a quick charger to charge the car in 40min.. But to charge a electric car battery in 10 min you need a nuclear powerplant in your house.. lol.. Have you thought about what power needed to do such things? :)

    iMiew battery= 16kWh

To charge this battery in 1 hour from depleeted to full it takes a fuse of atleast 70A at 230v .. To charge it in 10min you need atleast 420A!! :) 840A if you are on 110v! At my house i have 230v 20A ;) For me it will be charged overnight :)

  • Thats fine, and all..... But they should inplant solar cell membranes on the body of the car. And also inplant solar cells on the hulb caps to the wheels. Along with solar cells inplanted into the windows too. In order for the battery to recharge it self. While driving the vehicle. or while the vehicle is either parked on the street. This could be very helpful to re-generate energy. So the car would be able to recharge quickly. Regardless of the ampage and volts.

  • Solar would only charge a very small fraction of what you would need, and thats if you park it in the sun. Better to just have panels that store energy during the day at home, and you charge your car at night. this way you could have free electric for car and home. 30min quick charge is nice though, you could fully charge your car on a lunch break. I envision Induction chargers someday, where you car charges automatically while parked, no cables, bill sent to you by mail :)

  • WELL THE CAR INDUSTRY NEEDS TO STEP UP THEIR GAME BIG TIME! And make an better way to charge up the batteries quicker!!! Because this 30 min. charge crap ain't working!!!

  • No biggie. Everyone have mini nuclear power plants in their kitchens., they are call Microwaves.

  • @777jeru What you ask may not be scientifically possible, because you are constrained by fundamental laws of thermodynamics and entropy. Hence, you cannot assume and presume to live at the same level of comfort and convenience in the future that we have during this planet's one-time lucky oil phase. So the best technologists can do is minimize the inconvenience. We CAN keep life comfortable and convenient, but it requires a worldwide team effort.

  • @mphello MAN! I seriously beg the differ! And furthermore, i am NOT a fundamentalist! So get that straight through your skull!

  • i bet you i can make this car never run out of charge by installing deinmos in every wheel once its start moving those wheels will charge the battry please reply if you like the idea

  • I though about the same exact thing! To have generators inplanted into all four of the wheels. In order to recharge the battery. You and i are on the same wave link. lol

  • 2 hours charge?

  • In "who killed the electric car" how much was the ev1 retailing for?

Strange that 20 year old technology costs so much.

  • hey sign me up for 1

  • What is with the anchor and the reporter reading the news like they're ro-bots?

  • japanese rock

  • They need to get the price down ! I will by a TESLA SEDAN with 300 miles range on that money !!! EV RULES !

  • shit that's expensive

  • can you imagine everybody charging their cars during peak electricity use hours in California during peak hot summer days???

  • Can you imagine building renewable power stations to meet the demand? If you think about it, when there is a demand, someone will bound to provide it.

  • If you put a solar panel on a prius then you can get 100mpg so I wouldn't really worry about my EV on a hot day. Your car can charge when you are at work and if it fills up it can put that extra power from your solar back into the grid for others to use.

Can you imagine a parking lot full of cars with solar panels all charging for free? Not to mention homes...

If there is a will there is a way. G-d help me, I'll help them find it.

  • but where does the electricity come from? Wind ? Solar? River? Nuclear? Coal?

  • see peterweetbeter

  • @mrzack888 Here in Canada Were Banning Coal Plants And Were Using More Solar Plants.

  • @mrzack888 other than coal all of this are envirementally heallthy even nuclear and best of all its cheap and infinite

  • @mrzack888 You're not supposed to ask. Probably better off not knowing (*coughlivebabies*)

  • neat

  • Another electric car...

  • le cout est de combien pour cette voiture , merci de me répondre
