  • amooo

  • great tune, but I think the nbest version of this song is the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus one, with Toni Iommi!!

  • @sheldondoppler

That "version" you mention is simply the original studio recording, with Iommi just miming along to Mick Abraham's parts. That Rock and Roll Circus performance had no new audio recorded for it.

  • @fabrikk60 Except vocals and flute (you can actually hear two flute there, one live, one from the record).

  • @Jackinart nope it was all a mime.

  • @mahatmacoatmahandbag Check the literature on that. According to the official Tull-Website, vocals and flute were recorded live [although I hear the live and the studio flute in there]. Quote: "Tull is the opening act and the boys play "A Song for Jeffrey" from their debut album, "This Was." Ian's part (flute and vocals) was recorded live while the band is mimed to the track."

  • @Jackinart what official tull site? also where's the mention of 'fat man' ?

  • @mahatmacoatmahandbag Hi! It's the old version of j-tull.com, I found the article on it via google. Here's the direction, I can't insert it into this comment properly, so please tipe it in yourself: j-tull.com/news/stonesrockcircus.cfm

Yeah, it seems as they were playing Fat Man too, but it didn't make the final release...would love to see that, even mimed. :-)

  • @mahatmacoatmahandbag no, anderson was really singing and playing flute at the r&rc

  • great tune

  • Classic tune!

  • GREAT!

Finally a recent video of the song with good quality! Thanks :)
