The scary thing for me seems that your Mom is so calm about these things happening, like they were not really unhealthy situations. I just imagined you telling them straight they're out of their element, if you'd have been around.
What I don't get is Marshall's head-in-the-sand outlook on drug abuse. This is supposed to be a teatottin' Bible belt town and yet they completely ignored all the drug related police and ambulance calls to this address. Mom used to visit my nephew and sister in county jail. Seems like, in a small town like this, that the cops would've noticed that so many folks involved in drugs were being released to mom's address.
I've got them turned away from using momma as a crutch, but it was like turning an oceanliner against the tide! I had to practically stand in momma's front door like the three-headed dog at the gates of hell. And momma fought me every step of the way. It was almost as if she liked being robbed and abused.
Good thing that you showed up when you did--There is a NEW sheriff in town--that would be YOU :) Your ma might have felt like she was doing her "grandmotherly duty" by turning a blind eye...She is older now--I doubt SHE would call cops on her OWN grandkids. Good thing you are there--what 'good-for NUTIN" grandkids!
And they can't say I'm lying because the incriminations came from their own mother's mouth. The nephew moved in and ran momma's phone bill up to $600 before he split (momma had her phone cut off when she couldn't pay the bill). The niece threw temper tantrums ripping wiring out and breaking windows. To this day they don't feel the need to reimburse momma for the damages they did to her house.
My understanding is that Beth "lost it" sometime in the late 80s or early 90s and did the best she could with her diminished capacity. The nephew was a Ritalin baby.
Oh, I have a GREAT picture for that video. Scariest thing you ever saw. Maybe. Have you seen lots of scary? Anyway, it's the most frightening picture of Beth ever taken.
Is it me or are things getting fuzzy? I feel stoned...

That stuff stopped when I moved in. No more crash pad. No more raids of momma's purse and refrigerator. No more couch drunks.
marquisdejolie 3 years ago
OMG--WHO was using the house as a "crashpad" and WHO was trying to get your mama high?! That is CRAZY!!

That is just SO sad that Beth's kids are OUTTA control like that :(

WHAT BRATS!
I am wondering if Beth was a "mom" to them growing up? She certainly could NOT control her kids now that they are "supposedly" grown adults!

marquisdejolie 3 years ago
So tragic :( Yeah, my 37 yr old brother was put on Ritalin--still, no excuse for his beer-swillin', CRAZY ways!
katalina2007 3 years ago
I heard that excuse used a lot at the vets shelter. That and PTSD. They got mad at me for not having my own excuse. "Bad life choices" enraged them.
marquisdejolie 3 years ago
Yeah, being fed Ritalin as a kid is NO excuse for drinking and drugging as an adult--NOPE! I don't buy it!
katalina2007 3 years ago
Me neither. I favor the bad seed explanation.
marquisdejolie 3 years ago
(They smoked too many bad seeds in their teenaged pot)
marquisdejolie 3 years ago
A-yup--I agree with you! I tried that pot stuff--ICK! Never got "hooked'--now Al-K. Hall--well, that was good stuff! LOL!

Booze just makes me nauseous these days. No fun at all.

Yes--I have been sober for 9 years--so I REALLY stay away from the stuff :)

I'd buy one if it had a voice like a chatty cathy doll......saying stuff beth would say

And you could give it to nieces you didn't like much!
