There are two great songs written about Brooklyn: Brooklyn By the Sea by Mort Schumann and Brooklyn Roads by Neil Diamond. Great Video also. These days we call it 'Little Odessa'
Gleb, thank you very much for this video. Brooklyn by the sea is the song of Shuman I like the much, for it's poignant vibes. To discover this film multiply the remembrance o the mood the song creates. Merci beaucoup encore.
i've lived in Brighton beach all my life and i'm 25 years old- it looks EXACTLY THE SAME!!! More Russian and more younger people mixed in now. The buildings look the same- just without Oceana. If you want to see Brighton Beach in the snow- i made some videos last week- they are on my page! I LOVE BRIGHTON BEACH!!
Thanks so much for posting this. This is exactly how I remember Coney Island/Brighton Beaches when my grandmother took me down there as a kid on the old Brighton (D) Train in the 80s and early 90s
Oh, and how could I forget to mention that it shows Disco Freddy doing his thing! He's the guy in red shorts with the radio at about :45 seconds in. Unbelievable!

Any films of Brighton Beach Avenue in the 70s? I would love to see the old stores that were there.

OMFG! FInally, a film that shows how weird and wonderful Brighton Beach was. I had to be 11 years old when this was filmed.
