i've had to use a few of these in my day, not many or often, but enough to appreciate indoor plumbing. for years we had a decommissioned old outhouse on the other side of our fence, it had been there since I don't know when and i always thought if i went inside in summer i would come face to face with a black widow or a rattle snake. anyway, i enjoy a good vid about outhouses (so much history) but for practical purposes, i'll take the modern version. thanks for posting.
Oh! the memories of an outhouse. never mind the grandaddy longlegs and and ocassional black snake coiled up in the top corner, newspapers when you run out of toilet paper. And yes the smell! lol thanks for a trip down memory lane. grew up in W.V. no running water no power for a season of my childhood. Once we finally got it I was afraid people would thing I was upity. I realyy get a kick out this video and song. Thanks!!!
I grew up on a farm in rural NC and had to use the old out house only when the power went out. Actually, I like the rustic-ness of it and made sure I had to "go" when the power went out. What a great piece of Americana - the song AND the outhouse. Thanks for the memories!
Very nice video. I liked the song.I never had to use one of these. I do appreciate in door plumbing.Thank you for sharing and posting. You had some great pictures. Lisa 5 stars!
really nice selection of outhouses taken in a time of year not too many favor. a fine piece of music as well. having constructed my own this year I can appreciate the work someone once put into each of your subjects. A+
I worked with an old guy named Rolston once and he said his father never had indoor plumbing. When asked why he would reply, "anyone who would crap in their own house was nothing but a God, dam dog!"
I love Michigan !

We have one at our camp in Maine - it doubles as the tool shed.

I liked ours at the top of the mountain in Springer, Montana. His/hers, just like computers in reverse, uploads not as fast as down.

my favorite was a two seater with a short one for a child. It over looked a valley full of deer. Oregon coast.

Outhouses rule! I actually prefer them to toilets anyday, especially if it annoys those gashog driving "civilized" yuppy whiner types in the area.

I hope this gets featured. It's so much better than what I see on Fox.
