  • If you Dislike this, it is a clear indication that you have sold your soul to Garth Brooks. Eddie Hazel was the F$&^IN MAN

  • temazo

  • This was originally written as a gospel song by Eddie Hazel. The Gospel Origins of the Funk is a short video made by P Theory. They lyrics are different, but you won't miss the tune! I hope you will take a listen. Eddie loved Gospel music and many people don't pick up its influence in his songs.

  • thanks folettinme hear this one

  • who say funk band cant?

  • how can you even dislike this? :O

  • FUCKIN EPIC!

  • It is really fucked up that this music that was meant to be unifying and to transcend the barrier of race elicits so many hateful comments on here. I hope all you people who are so easily talking bad to each other are just kids that don't know any better. If you can't get down with this gift of sublime funk in the spirit of brotherhood, you kinda missed the point.

  • @MrBigred1970 You are right! Respect from an italian/portuguese/black descendent from the south of Brazil!

  • if you play black sabbath albums backwards, you get pfunk lyrics. but don't tell your mother!!

  • @flexorlamonticus is that so? odd method of sampling, lol

  • The funk is cooking a white boys brain rite' here!.. Holy fuck i love this!

  • @RuneFun12 Hahah

  • If this doesn't make you want to hit the dancefloor...your ass is dead !

  • EVERY day's Halloween for Geo. Clinton !

  • Who here says that a funk band can't play rock? These guys sure can!

  • I remember when this came out. It blew everybody's mind. Funk and Metal are similar. Black Sabbath is a Funk band in the guise of Metal.

  • bring back le funk

  • The Osmium LP sounds more like a rock band playing funk occasionally, which made me love it. But anyway who gives a fuck about labels when it comes to good music?

  • AWESOME!

  • what a jam!!!

  • lovin this

  • Funkadelic-Parliament is THE very definition of the intoxicating seventies. They were Gods of the Groove, utter and indisputable masters of their own concoction of sound: an infectious, revolutionary funk unprecedented at their time, and still in a gilded league of its own today.

Psychedelia, prog, psychrock, bluesrock, hard rock, soul: musicians that came before led up to them, and musicians that came after derived from them. they are lords of a wordless language known as music

  • funk is not a dance music. FUNK IS A LIFE STYLE. thank You Eddie.

  • @skubijabadubi and what would be life whithout dancing..

  • Thank you for posting this! Absolutely brilliant!!

  • I don't think anyone ever told Eddie Hazel this

  • @ADarkerBreed What? well, it´s Michael Hampton playing here anyway

  • That solo just blew my mind.

  • @squisheeman007 I liked the entire song, as well.

  • anyone knows where to find a tab for this song? i just get the first part by ear but cant figure out how to play 00:44 :(

  • best pot smoking theme for a sitting ever! made my day!

  • I just heard this band for the first time a few minutes, and I must say this pretty fucking awsome.

  • George Clinton smokes crack and takes naps!

  • eddie hazel has made me check into an asylum.........

  • why does 1:11 sounds like facebook chat sound?

  • Man I am a die hard fan... Remember Coming Round The Mountain from this album

  • comic sans hurts my soul

  • you cannot deny the black influence in music. blues funk jazz it is there whether you deny it or not. it isnt about race it is about ackknowledging the contribution of the people who created the music. no saying that whit folks cant do this type of music b/c they can. i just get tired of people saying it aint about race. duh it's about pride in the contributions that my people have made to music worldwide. so shut with that shit

  • @mjjcng8958 You do a whole lot of talking without saying much

  • @RunescapeWideos really? well you obviously did not get my point. i said alot and it really is not that hard to understand.

  • @mjjcng8958 There's a difference between saying a lot and rambling for an entire paragraph

    Plus you contradicted yourself

"It isn't about race, it is about acknowledging the contribution of the people who created the music."

    two sentences later...

"I just get tired of people saying it ain't about race."

    then at the beginning...

"You can not deny the black influence in music."

So what in the world are you really getting at, here?

  • @RunescapeWid instead of saying you do a whole lot of talking w/o saying much maybe you should have asked me what i meant. if you don get what i am saying from what i wrote then i am so sorry b/c i said exactly what i meant. i also said i get tired of people saying it aint about race then i said duhabout ackknowledging the contribution of the people who created the music. please reread what i said!! stop half assing and really read it

  • @mjjcng8958 If I hadn't really read it I wouldn't be able to say that you STILL contradicted yourself. I still have no idea what you're trying to say because of your poor english skills. Maybe YOU ought to proofread messages before you post them.

  • @RunescapeWideos also i can write how i please. honestly if you dont like what i have to say dont bother to respond. if i want to ramble then i should be able to. the reason you dont understand what i am trying to say is b/c you dont know the comments that i am responding to. so next time instead of making an asss of yourself be sure you know what you are talking about before you respond to me. ciao

  • @mjjcng8958 You're the one making an ass of yourself. I'm not questioning your right to speak, I'm questioning your ability to do so effectively. I also never said I didn't like what you have to say, I just want to know what you're TRYING to say.

  • Comment removed

  • @RunescapeWideos here is the part i feel you didnt read bc you quoted me and left out that part,

. no saying that whit folks cant do this type of music b/c they can. i just get tired of people saying it aint about race. duh it's about pride in the contributions that my people have made to music worldwide. so shut with that shit. i i was actually saying that people should just stop saying oh this isnt black music, but just acknoledge the contributions black have made to music.

  • @mjjcng8958 I'M JUST ASKING YOU TO USE PROPER ENGLISH SO I CAN UNDERSTAND BETTER

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU'RE SAYING

  • @RunescapeWideos i admit my spelling is horrible but proper english? now i dont understand! i feel my english was just fine. you didnt ask me to use proper english. anyway i am done with this conversation

  • @mjjcng8958 I would have actually gained something from this if you would learn to write. Bye, I guess

  • @RunescapeWideos lol you must be a fucking stupid ass punk if you don't know what the other kid is saying

  • @jedikiang You must be the same kind of moron to see the error in every message she's sent so far.

  • The guitar is funky insane

  • crazy thing is the sheeple who dislike this probably are die hard fans of of a person/band who's die hard Parliament/Funkadelic fans

  • @chikkengrease dick lozenge

  • @chikkengrease that is a monster comment. well done

  • @chikkengrease It's a great song, but I gotta tell ya,

9 out of 10 sheeple are caught saying sheeple.

and it's never clever or witty.

  • @chikkengrease it makes it even funnier

  • michael; hampton plays this sorry but eddie hazel was not on no part of the one nation under a groove sessions.

  • @vallred85 how can you be so sure? it's a known fact that some songs were recorded years before they were released. As a matter of fact, I recall this being Eddie's creation in 1969. The liner notes on Funkadelic releases rarely have the correct information. Eddie not being part of the One Nation sessions has nothing to do with what is on the release.

  • who did the index pinky n thumb thing first? ozzy osbourne or george clinton?

  • @MrCockSlut it was actually Ronnie James Dio, popularized even further by others. It's actually pretty universal, but whatevs, its all good! \m/

  • 10 doo doo chaser's!!

  • my grammammy always said

    ITS GOTS TO BE FUNKY!

    HAHAHA!

  • all hail george clinton!!

    GOD OF FUNK!

  • Full on guitar solos....

  • who DOES say that a funk band can't play dance music?! funk IS dance music :D

  • been diggin' the funkadelic since '68 - man .......

    somebody Funk me !!!!

  • Funk You all!

  • @nuhtin4u big up mr. We need some young funkers. Check out bigdoggband on myspace, Brit funk. U might like x

  • sounds white !!!

  • @TheChompix

i think that was their point for this song!

who says black cant sound white..if they can play everything

  • Very Hendrix /Cream driven.

  • @sensational1982 Way better than Cream but not better than Hendrix.

  • @metalliczombie Agree

  • Ha - who sez rock music wasn't descended directly from The Blues? The best music in America is done by or inspired by African Americans - no brag, just fact -

  • @SupernalOne

"is done" bitch cmon blacks invented almost everything to do with rock, and i love that but give respect to the punks they done some stuff

  • @DeadTime34

    oh sure, no question

  • this song is funking me!!!!

  • P-funk can do anything they want

  • George must be in R&R Hall of Fame

Free Their Minds, an their ass is bound to Follow!!!

  • @manfree617 him and the guys are in the rock n roll hall fame for a long time now

  • @manfree617 P-Funk has been in the Hall of Fame since '97. Prince inducted them.

  • The real question is why is Funkadelic never mentioned among the greatest american rock bands of all time. No disrespect to Clinton but Eddie Hazel made the first three albums. Is it any wonder that their next great album was Standing on the Edge?

  • I think they used to rock, like no one else, on their first three albums especially, but this is far from their best album. Wonder why this is their most famous album. Maybe because of the title track? Can't really compare since they are so different, but the first three albums are so perfect in every way. Could it be that they rock TOO MUCH and are therefore not appreciated by the usual funk crowd? Tip of the day: Listen to the first albums on LSD, the way they were meant to be heard!!!

  • Another great black rock band is Mother's Finest, you definitely have to check them out!

  • 10 suckas don't have soul.

  • funky!

  • @ThePlatapus If youve been on the planet earth any significant amount of time and are just now finding out that who you call niggers call play good music then you must be living in the woods Billy Bob. Something so simple as musical appreciation is reduced to a racial issue for people like you. I normally wouldnt waste my time responding but it amazes me how many YT sites geared toward Kemetian interests are viewed by tubobs like you. The Funkadelics trained white artists. Stop talking stupid!

  • @Kalonjikala

I really never to reach out beyond the 90's and 80's, where it seemed many blacks had taken to rap. Not saying there isn't plenty of AWESOME black bands of that time, like Hootie and the Blowfish! Yeah...

But before this I did like Chuck Berry, Public Enemy, Jimi Hendrix and plenty of other negro musicians. But this is probably like the first band I'm really taken to to be known for being black.

  • @ThePlatapus Hootie has one black guy but i like your way of thinking. Living Colour was great as well, and they recently came out with a new album i think

  • @ThePlatapus you shouldnt worry about the race of the musicians, music transcends human faults like racism and racial differences...the music is all that matters man.

  • who the fuck disliked this......go fucking die...you have no ear for proper music, ya wankers

  • seriously

  • Anything Junie Morrison touched, turned to gold.

He funked it up with the Ohio Players & Funkadelic. Listen to this one, Promentalshitbackwashpsychosisenemasquad and then the smooth slowjam by Parliament "Watersign".

    Long live the P!

  • Comin" outta the J.B.s it was Bootsy who brought pure musicianship to the funk community. That is why the cat is still relevant and sought for cameos and studio sessions. Honorable mention to Maceo Parker and Fred Wesley of the Horny Horns

  • is there any band out there now that comes close to what funkadelic was up to on this record?

  • Pondlife is pretty funky BUT nothing comes close to Funkadelic!......saw them play at Glasto festival last week-and I can tell you a lot of the young audience are now thinking "I want to do this!".......hang in there.H.Hx.

  • Prince probably played this one a lot. Give Sly props too along with Jimi

  • My philosophy, exactly.

  • Funk is one of those genres that can't go wrong.

  • remember kids: funk is three quarters fun

  • @Pendor42 FUNk

  • @Pendor42 so whats the last quarter then?

  • @dontxmatter ketamine lol

  • @Pendor42 I love it, Im 14 and my daily intake for music consists of usually Funk/soul like Funkadelic, Isaac Hayes, and Rap/Hip Hop like Tech N9ne and most underground rap today.

  • @Pendor42 I don't get it

  • @Pendor42

    whats the other quarter?

  • @funnystuff1284 The American Sign Language Association. It means "I love you", and has been around long before Ozzie Osborne or George Clinton.

  • Funk is so awesome!!!!!

  • yea i dont get wut happened really black people played some kind of rock music til the early 80s/late 70's. from blues to rock n' roll to R&B to Soul to Funk all guitar oritented rock music. then rap came out and that was it lol. rock suffers from it too because white rock muscians were whiggers until the 80's basicaly. they wanted to talk and dress and sound like the earlier black muscians. now rock music has no soul

  • What a shame that missy elliot (or whatever the fuck is her name) gets millions of viewers yet this guys only get a hand full. Shame!

  • Some of the things Funkadelic plays sounds alot like what Jimi Hendrix played (atleast to my ears). Who started playing this style of music first, Jimi or Funkadelic?

  • @boxingin good question. this most of this stuff is fairly recent maybe 80s? the guys are still alive an giggin anyways

  • @Pendor42 Well, Funkadelic's real heyday was in the '70s. But I gotta admit, they did some real nice stuff in the '80s, too.

  • @boxingin ok here is the story, everyone in funkadelic loved jimi, so the influence is there.

  • @mjjcng8958 I see, thanks for the info.

No wonder these mothers play so damn well! :)

  • @boxingin i know right. i love these guys
