This song was the late Minnie Pearl's favaorite song, and there have been many versions by great singers. Not long before she died, a number of country singers visited her and serenaded her with this song I think Eddie Arnold, who perhaps sang it be and recroded it many years ago, was among them.

The great Jimmy Davis, Eddie Arnold, and Jim Reeves sang this song best, though Marty Robbins had a fine version.
