  • this was slam dancing. before you stupid kids started calling it a mosh pit.

  • Fuck man the beggining of this video what a fucking Slam pit

  • The girl at 1:48 looks like my girlfriend. But her hair style is different my lady has one side of her head shaved.

  • vomit and spit

  • Whoa, apparently they're playing at voodoo fest? Fuck yeah!

  • Emo really fucked things up !

  • Odd thing about '76 Punk Bands.

The best ones were NOT punk.

Pere Ubu - Avant-garde garage band

Sex Pistols - A mid-tempo heavy metal band

The Clash - An intense rock and roll band (on speed)

The Dead Kennedy's - A surf band on speed

    X - A rockabilly band on speed

  • @Knepperify1 So then what exactly IS punk? I feel like you're seeing past the point of the whole movement.

  • @chriskinney06 Agreed! Knepperify1 You kind of want to categorize every band into a small inaccessible niche...ugh...stop!

  • @Knepperify1 Sex Pistols was not a punk and heavy metal band. It was just popular boys band in late 70's.

  • kicking it down...brick by brick

  • ke tal pogo!

  • the punk scene is like this where i live in Appleton Wisconsin

  • @remission999 Fucking lucky! It aint like this in L.A! Well anymore!

  • Is it Tom Waits at 1:49?

  • bobby pin!!

  • what is this film from? And love punk rock! :)

  • @manhuntruler2 it's called "The Decline of Western Civilization"

  • good ole daze of nihilism and poetry

  • HAAAA! Yes had to hear it, what a babe!!! X is so sweeT!!! Look at Billy and His bitchen stance! Went by your house a few times with Gary Twin to say Hi, dont remmeber were any more, just remmber the Aly and the white shed gaurages

  • is it just me or is john doe fucking dreamy ?

  • @JulietCapulet13 Ummm.....yeah! :D

  • These were the days when it was possible to walk into a show healthy_ish, then walk out with a detached retina.

  • @terrydribble Lol,I'm in my forties now.My optometrist warned me about that around 30.He basically said if I underwent another blow to the head to seek emergency treatment. What really wigged me out was that he asked;"did you mosh or slam dance when you were younger?"Spot on,guess I didn't resemble an ex boxer.

  • @exeuroweenie hahaha! he must have watched the slam dance episode of CHiPs! hahaha!

  • try hards

  • lol the lyrics sound like their saying "Nausea, Bloody encore"

  • the germs

  • Classic L.A. punk.

  • Hell yeah!!!!!! saw this band once in 82-4? at the WOW Hall in Eugene Oregon. I remember in the mosh pit it somehow opened up and I was alone wearing my Doors(Jim Morrison) t-shirt Joe Doe glanced at me smiled and gave me a thumbs up. just a kinda cool recollection of a really good show. One of the BEST punk bands to ever grace a stage...right up there with the Dead Kennedys. Hell yeah!!!!!!

  • @ViralAries

    That is super cool!!

  • I like this version better than the one on the album, with organ in it. Like the Doors, like Ray Manzarek's playing on their albums, but the organ just didn't fit this song.

  • @Ori0n1975 the organ's easily my favorite part of that song haha

  • Dude this band is soo good and so freaking awesome lol

  • Whatever happened to X? Next thing their on David Letterman singing country. Bleh!

  • these musix openned the universe for me I was raised up from my mediocre milk toast suburban birth and given a fire to burn for all eternity

  • Darby!

  • nice video good music..

something out of the ordinary !

  • i was there.

  • X fucking sucks! but i saw Darby Crash

  • @ItZmshall89 I went to the last Satyricon show with a bunch of my friends and the "punk scene" literally gave us a list of rules on how to be an official Portland punk.

  • Now that's Vintage

  • u killed punk!

  • haha darby's mean mug at the end. Classic

  • @ItZmshall89 I think corprate goons killed punk by not supporting new bands because it became to much of a threat to their system just like grunge or heavy metal. They Pull the plug on it all because everyones running around not getting jobs and breaking shit. or in the Plasmatics or Nirvans case they get shot in the face.

  • @LittleZappey Scenes change, People change, Blame it on whatever you want but the real fact is. Everything changes and scenes die because of it. It is a sad fact of life that old school won't come back, But that's life. Corporate goons have nothing to do with punk music. Society had a bigger effect on music. If it was a corporate job then why did things change when punk is so rebellious?

  • @AndarLucifer Look all the bands the get remberd the most from any kind of rock are usally the ones that say the least and have no message. and If not The corparations put em down Like Curt Cobane, Wendy O Williams, or even Jimmy Hendrix.

  • @LittleZappey Watch SLC Punk. Great movie but at the end, That's life either you can keep making excuses or you can just accept the natural order of change.

  • @AndarLucifer I seen that One. You ever seen Suberbia or Repo Man. I wonder if their more punk movies than that floating around.

  • X used to rule now thier just a bunch of country wankers.

  • billy zoom is a badass. such a fucking massive riff...

  • I cant wait to see them in Anaheim

  • when the punk scene is more alive is when u see surfers, punks, and everybody just having a good time to make up for the bad time outside, free and wild

  • X is playing in the sunset strip on december!!!!!!!!!!! fuck man i wanna be like that guy at 0:15....shits seems hella fun xP

  • Ah, the good ol days!

  • I saw them at the whisky in Hollywood during this time. Fun times

  • Wrapped for lunch like a candy bar....

  • ..you guys want old school punk? then listen to The Sonics the song "Psycho" or "Boss Hoss"..1960s punk! or Los Saicos from Peru..1960s punk. Old school!! ahead of it's time!

  • @TheJunk1es X is the most punkest band ever

  • hands down, the best X song. way better than the studio version

  • X sucks

  • Goddamn it why aren't there mosh pits like this anymore?

  • @RandomMan1

Admittedly it is rare, but if you go to the right shows there still is some good ol'fashion slam dancing. To me a good show is as much about the audience as the band. Less well know bands in smaller clubs is the way to go. The crowds at the big festivals almost always suck even when the band is great. I've had great experiences seeing Channel 3, The Crowd, Stiff Little Fingers, etc. Some solid slam dancing and no circle pit makes for a great show. X))

  • today your gonna be so sick so sick YOULL PROP YOUR FOREHEAD ON THE SINK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I wish I was there...

  • i was watching this and felt so happy then i scrolled down and read all the things u guys said and i felt really really sad . the fucked up thing is they are true its over.

  • HAAHAAHEEHEEEE

  • Hard 2 believe John doe ended up in"roadhouse" and La Law and Exene was married 2 Viggo Motensen. But all punks must grow up.....2 a point!

  • @666kinski i just learned... dude, thats fuuuuuuuuuuucked up. no waaay....why is it so shocking for me to picture aragon son of arathorn fucking exene cervenka... wow

  • @ItZmshall89 what killed punk was rules. The minet someome said you have to sound like this to be punk it was dead.

  • @natesot i agree, i think the main rule that killed it was that it couldnt go mainstream or get too popular, so there wasnt enough people that knew about it to be influenced enough to start there own punk band.

  • @punknpatches I agree except big busness would of killed it off much like they did in the 90s Nirvana was the final nail in the cofin punk is very dead but man those were the days.

Yea it seemed that the acual punk kids were so afraid of the outside world they wouldnt let anyone in but that was what made it great but also killed it.

  • that pit looks so scary

  • TAKE THE SCISSORS, SAW THE HEAD!

  • Russel Crowe: Punk Version @ 2:06

  • this is such a good riff to slam to

  • I think i found my new favorite band and song. Her voice is so frickin sexy!

  • Now *THIS* is proper show attitude *grin*

I love this film. And the song, of course. :)

  • POVERTY AND SPIT

  • shes proly old ass fuck but i wanna hump that blonde like a camel

  • fuck the looks i belive punk is abt ideas not looks . @ least should b !!

  • darby crash at 1:54

  • I wish today's punk scene was more like this.

  • @YewLogs026 Where do you live?

  • @arebecause0

    Cleveland, granted. -.-

but i meant in general man.

  • @YewLogs026 Then do it dude change it.

  • @YewLogs026

Go out and make your own.

That's what those in the video did and it is what I did and the people I knew did.

    DIY.

    Do It Yourself.

  • @YewLogs026 Nothing lasts forever sucker, make something new!

  • @YewLogs026 its what you make it

  • LOL! Executive producer = Gordon Brown

  • dam.

  • at the end why does darby seem so deppressed?

  • @ItZmshall89 Yeah the most important thing was to play balls/tits out rock and roll that happened to make the elders ears bleed, although this was always the way since the 60's, if you've seen the MC5s 'Black to Comm' in grainy black and white TV footage, you'll know what I mean!

  • Dang the good old days - these were such great times. It was a blast being a part of the 70's punk movement. X was always the best and they still kick ass today. We all may be older, but we still rock!

  • god i want to hear this song with the organ

  • Darby looks like a punk General

  • what an intense pit. jesus. THis is a nuts video by the way. X is such a cool fucking band.

  • Today you're gonna be so sick so sick you'll prop your forehead on the sink say oh christ oh jesus christ my head's gonna crack like a bank

  • that intro title coming in with the opening to the track is so intense

  • Pero si suenan mejor y lucen mejor que muchos grupetes actuales

  • wrapped up like a candy bar thats all you get to taste poverty and SPIT!

  • blatz-nausea&homade speed

  • 1:50 will somebody get me a beea-rr"

  • @TheFacelessK is that Derby Crash?

  • @scrooge79 of course, but derbys a hat darbys the singer you can see him in a bunch of the decline i think some one put it on youtube if u look for part 1 you can watch the whole thing if you havent already

  • DARBY

  • I would love to go back in time and do it all over again. The most fun I have ever had in my life and this band was one of my all time favorites!!!

  • youth looked like individuals following there own fashion....not like today where everyone looks the same in all music scenes.

  • they dont know why they are dressed that way, to them its just fashion,

before it seemed like everyone dressed how they wanted and now everyone dresses how they are told to dress, i hate how the masses of punks are clones of pennywise, tshits and shorts spy sunglasses and a cap, socks usually up to their knees,

yawn what happened to sporting tape and leather ?

  • @ jun7per Not really. It was the same back then too. These youths were conformists, and they knew it. Can you imagine attending one of these gigs in the wrong attire? They really don't look any more 'individual' to todays youths...Oh, look a Johnny Rotten impersonator!

  • @Houdinitreehouse Although a number of them appear to dress like its a fuckin fashion show....i would disagree with your assertion that you couldn't show up to this show dressed as an individual w/our conforming to punk fashion. there's a guy in as suit and tie there, and some dudes with "regular" clothes on, and one girl dressed as a clown...that's a pretty wide spectrum.

  • @lalalaboomdeeay I agree. The 'Uniform' had not really gelled yet in to what it became about ayear later. The same could be said about the music. You could see Black Flag on the same bill with the GoGOs. People, even'rebels' want to fit in with their own peer group. That's just human nature. Some people are on board to be 'hipsters' & some are figuring it all out, & SOME are doing their own thing. Black Flag hardly looked punk at all except when you looked at he rest of society back then.

  • this makes me want to push someone

  • blatz does a ridiculous cover of this

  • favorite song by them.

  • same here, my fav

  • there are. you just have to find them.

  • at 2:09 looks like the dude from crucifix

  • i wish i had been alive back then :(

  • I'm glad I was! Best year ever to be 18!!

  • There are plenty of bands like this today. This was local music, nobody heard it except the people at the show. You can find local bands playing great music in most big cities. They're just not on youtube, who cares.

  • tv and popular culture succeeded in watering down the intellects of the nation's youth! when you can buy the artifacts of a counter-culture at the mall (i.e.Hot Topic) you rest assured that the aforementioned counter-culture is indeed DEAD

  • Not dead to me, yet. I think we can re-start something even better with enough effort!

  • lol darby crash at 1:51

  • man i wish i was in that pit!

  • i like how all the bands in this movie kicked ass all of them ha all the germs and kickboy face were at the x concertat the begining

  • sucks the live version precedes the record version of nausea

  • i would pay $ to go back in time and see this show amongst doing a couple benefitial things if i could

  • i'd die happy to go back in time for this one!

  • id go with u ha just to experience it ha yeah!

  • 1:43 Jim Morrison

    :D

  • Yeah, Davey USE to be punk, and then the homo decided to kill punk with the same razor he cut his wrists with. This was the only GOOD decline movie.

  • I love the slamming !!!! I remember when I was 14 it takes oyu back . JUST close those eyes & remember . SIGHH!!! Oh well we grow up .

  • Yea, Exene's voice has seen better days but X still kills it. I've seen them 4 times over the last 6 years and they've been great at each show.

  • great raw music!

  • u dont c a bunch uf punx like dat now days...now its just colorful hair and tight clothes. but i do agree w/ david5345...

  • nothing beats the first and second decline

  • The Lawrence Arms, none more black, latterman they're all good.

  • ..is that Davey Havok at 1:50??

  • No, that's Darby Crash (From the Germs) . But AFI was punk once too, something these new-wave sell outs fail to recognize.

  • How dare thou think Darby Crash is Davey havok!

  • @1scoutsgal Naw! It's Darby Crash... haha... you would never see Davey drink a beer anyway...

  • @Anarchy555 nooo, i'm talking about the guy before darby, he's really pale with black hair, eyes fixated on the stage..

  • but even 30 years later this music still sounds good

  • im sorry bot excena was siousie sioux on crack

  • Saw last nights show at Pac Amp and they rocked! Sound was great where we were sitting. Band was tight! Even when stopping mid song to throw some guy out & picking right back up where they left off. Priceless!!

  • lol i remember that! I screamed out "WHAT THE HELL!?!?"

  • this song is the shit!! saw them play like 2 months ago

  • saw them tonight they rocked but... vocals were to low .. and billy was to loud!

  • the first decline is the shit. the metal one is cool and hilarious and the third one makes punx look bad

  • now, that, my friends, is a pit!

  • this looks like this was a really good show man i wish i could be in the late

70's when the germs were around

  • Nostalgia is useless, make use of present time. There's a lot of great punk bands you haven't discovered that 30 years from now people will be saying they wished they saw.

  • no but the bands now won't be rememebred so much as the late 70's early 80's punk movement on the east and west coast and britain was when punk rock was at its peak and we missed it : (

  • Oi Boy,

shut up and go to a fucking show, hell X are still touring.

  • yeah x is and circle jerks but black flag, germs fear arnt playing anymore

  • unfortunately exene's voice is shot and she is having some problems and she isn't as good as here but its still her

  • the germs are still touring america but they've got that actor from e.r on it instead of darby crash

  • thats why i will not go see them because that dumbass actor took darby's place thats why im pissed il go and see x though

  • then its NOT the Germs

  • Punk is constantly evolving, there are always great bands coming along, check out someone like Psyched To Die they're awesome. You sound like some wanna be hippie complaining about how the 60s are over. What's the fucking point? You might as well embrace what can you in the present as it's impossible to live in the past.

  • true im not a fuckin hippie i think the word ur thinking of is rememberance or something like that i like punk music old and some new like choking victim leftover crack and some punk bands that im friends with bu thats abouyt it

  • List them then.

  • Gallows, Psyched To Die, Banner Pilot, Rich White Males, The Bronx, Fucked Up, This Is Hell, Leftover Crack, Black President, Cobra Skulls

That's ten good bands I named off the top of my head who have formed in the last decade. If you can't find at least one band on this list who you like you don't like punk music.

  • or just the music today right?

  • Sorry. The Bronx is the only good band on that list.

  • no. fucked up is good.

  • hey oi i see everyone is picking on you but fuck them they can keep this shitty era!!

  • ha yeah fuck who? what im arguing is that the germs got a fuckin actor who played a couple of drama movies aand some how becomes the lead singer of one of the most notoroius 70's 1st wave punk bands to lead and still everyone fuckin loves him fuck them

  • oh i was talking about how those asses were saying to enjoy this generation of shit music! but yeah that's another pile of bullshit that i don't want to delve into right now because thinking of it makes me wanna vomit! (the whole 'shane west "germs" thing)

  • ha i have similar taste fuck this screamo bullshit they can goo fuck themsleves then cry and cut themselve fuck u and yur "shitty era" ha the new germs singer sucks old one should have never been replaced

  • You're aware that Darby is dead right? And Shane West doesn't suck compared to Darby. Go look up a video of Darby Crash singing for The Germs and then make your comparison. I love The Germs and Darby but I can honestly say he was one of the worst stage singers in punk history haha.

  • i disagree alright he was like that cuz he took drugs yet his songs were good i dont care how bad he was on stage he was great to me yeah i know he is dead died december 7th 1980 which was a while ago yeah sucks but shane west is a fuckin actor and knew nothing about punk til after he did what we do is secret
