@terrydribble Lol,I'm in my forties now.My optometrist warned me about that around 30.He basically said if I underwent another blow to the head to seek emergency treatment. What really wigged me out was that he asked;"did you mosh or slam dance when you were younger?"Spot on,guess I didn't resemble an ex boxer.
Hell yeah!!!!!! saw this band once in 82-4? at the WOW Hall in Eugene Oregon. I remember in the mosh pit it somehow opened up and I was alone wearing my Doors(Jim Morrison) t-shirt Joe Doe glanced at me smiled and gave me a thumbs up. just a kinda cool recollection of a really good show. One of the BEST punk bands to ever grace a stage...right up there with the Dead Kennedys. Hell yeah!!!!!!
I like this version better than the one on the album, with organ in it. Like the Doors, like Ray Manzarek's playing on their albums, but the organ just didn't fit this song.
@ItZmshall89 I went to the last Satyricon show with a bunch of my friends, and the "punk scene" literally gave us a list of rules on how to be an official Portland punk.
@ItZmshall89 I went to the last Satyricon show with a bunch of my friends and the "punk scene" literally gave us a list of rules on how to be an official Portland punk.
@ItZmshall89 I think corprate goons killed punk by not supporting new bands because it became to much of a threat to their system just like grunge or heavy metal. They Pull the plug on it all because everyones running around not getting jobs and breaking shit. or in the Plasmatics or Nirvans case they get shot in the face.
@LittleZappey Scenes change, People change, Blame it on whatever you want but the real fact is. Everything changes and scenes die because of it. It is a sad fact of life that old school won't come back, But that's life. Corporate goons have nothing to do with punk music. Society had a bigger effect on music. If it was a corporate job then why did things change when punk is so rebellious?
@AndarLucifer Look all the bands the get remberd the most from any kind of rock are usally the ones that say the least and have no message. and If not The corparations put em down Like Curt Cobane, Wendy O Williams, or even Jimmy Hendrix.
@LittleZappey Watch SLC Punk. Great movie but at the end, That's life either you can keep making excuses or you can just accept the natural order of change.
when the punk scene is more alive is when u see surfers, punks, and everybody just having a good time to make up for the bad time outside, free and wild
..you guys want old school punk? then listen to The Sonics the song "Psycho" or "Boss Hoss"..1960s punk! or Los Saicos from Peru..1960s punk. Old school!! ahead of it's time!
Admittedly it is rare, but if you go to the right shows there still is some good ol'fashion slam dancing. To me a good show is as much about the audience as the band. Less well know bands in smaller clubs is the way to go. The crowds at the big festivals almost always suck even when the band is great. I've had great experiences seeing Channel 3, The Crowd, Stiff Little Fingers, etc. Some solid slam dancing and no circle pit makes for a great show. X))
i was watching this and felt so happy then i scrolled down and read all the things u guys said and i felt really really sad . the fucked up thing is they are true its over.
@666kinski i just learned... dude, thats fuuuuuuuuuuucked up. no waaay....why is it so shocking for me to picture aragon son of arathorn fucking exene cervenka... wow
@natesot i agree, i think the main rule that killed it was that it couldnt go mainstream or get too popular, so there wasnt enough people that knew about it to be influenced enough to start there own punk band.
@punknpatches I agree except big busness would of killed it off much like they did in the 90s Nirvana was the final nail in the cofin punk is very dead but man those were the days.
Yea it seemed that the acual punk kids were so afraid of the outside world they wouldnt let anyone in but that was what made it great but also killed it.
@ItZmshall89 Yeah the most important thing was to play balls/tits out rock and roll that happened to make the elders ears bleed, although this was always the way since the 60's, if you've seen the MC5s 'Black to Comm' in grainy black and white TV footage, you'll know what I mean!
Dang the good old days - these were such great times. It was a blast being a part of the 70's punk movement. X was always the best and they still kick ass today. We all may be older, but we still rock!
@scrooge79 of course, but derbys a hat darbys the singer you can see him in a bunch of the decline i think some one put it on youtube if u look for part 1 you can watch the whole thing if you havent already
they dont know why they are dressed that way, to them its just fashion,
before it seemed like everyone dressed how they wanted and now everyone dresses how they are told to dress, i hate how the masses of punks are clones of pennywise, tshits and shorts spy sunglasses and a cap, socks usually up to their knees,
@ jun7per Not really. It was the same back then too. These youths were conformists, and they knew it. Can you imagine attending one of these gigs in the wrong attire? They really don't look any more 'individual' to todays youths...Oh, look a Johnny Rotten impersonator!
@Houdinitreehouse Although a number of them appear to dress like its a fuckin fashion show....i would disagree with your assertion that you couldn't show up to this show dressed as an individual w/our conforming to punk fashion. there's a guy in as suit and tie there, and some dudes with "regular" clothes on, and one girl dressed as a clown...that's a pretty wide spectrum.
@lalalaboomdeeay I agree. The 'Uniform' had not really gelled yet in to what it became about ayear later. The same could be said about the music. You could see Black Flag on the same bill with the GoGOs. People, even'rebels' want to fit in with their own peer group. That's just human nature. Some people are on board to be 'hipsters' & some are figuring it all out, & SOME are doing their own thing. Black Flag hardly looked punk at all except when you looked at he rest of society back then.
There are plenty of bands like this today. This was local music, nobody heard it except the people at the show. You can find local bands playing great music in most big cities. They're just not on youtube, who cares.
tv and popular culture succeeded in watering down the intellects of the nation's youth! when you can buy the artifacts of a counter-culture at the mall (i.e.Hot Topic) you rest assured that the aforementioned counter-culture is indeed DEAD
Saw last nights show at Pac Amp and they rocked! Sound was great where we were sitting. Band was tight! Even when stopping mid song to throw some guy out & picking right back up where they left off. Priceless!!
Nostalgia is useless, make use of present time. There's a lot of great punk bands you haven't discovered that 30 years from now people will be saying they wished they saw.
no but the bands now won't be rememebred so much as the late 70's early 80's punk movement on the east and west coast and britain was when punk rock was at its peak and we missed it : (
Punk is constantly evolving, there are always great bands coming along, check out someone like Psyched To Die they're awesome. You sound like some wanna be hippie complaining about how the 60s are over. What's the fucking point? You might as well embrace what can you in the present as it's impossible to live in the past.
true im not a fuckin hippie i think the word ur thinking of is rememberance or something like that i like punk music old and some new like choking victim leftover crack and some punk bands that im friends with bu thats abouyt it
Gallows, Psyched To Die, Banner Pilot, Rich White Males, The Bronx, Fucked Up, This Is Hell, Leftover Crack, Black President, Cobra Skulls
That's ten good bands I named off the top of my head who have formed in the last decade. If you can't find at least one band on this list who you like you don't like punk music.
ha yeah fuck who? what im arguing is that the germs got a fuckin actor who played a couple of drama movies aand some how becomes the lead singer of one of the most notoroius 70's 1st wave punk bands to lead and still everyone fuckin loves him fuck them
oh i was talking about how those asses were saying to enjoy this generation of shit music! but yeah that's another pile of bullshit that i don't want to delve into right now because thinking of it makes me wanna vomit! (the whole 'shane west "germs" thing)
ha i have similar taste fuck this screamo bullshit they can goo fuck themsleves then cry and cut themselve fuck u and yur "shitty era" ha the new germs singer sucks old one should have never been replaced
You're aware that Darby is dead right? And Shane West doesn't suck compared to Darby. Go look up a video of Darby Crash singing for The Germs and then make your comparison. I love The Germs and Darby but I can honestly say he was one of the worst stage singers in punk history haha.
i disagree alright he was like that cuz he took drugs yet his songs were good i dont care how bad he was on stage he was great to me yeah i know he is dead died december 7th 1980 which was a while ago yeah sucks but shane west is a fuckin actor and knew nothing about punk til after he did what we do is secret
this was slam dancing. before you stupid kids started calling it a mosh pit.

Odd thing about '76 Punk Bands.
The best ones were NOT punk.
Pere Ubu - Avant-garde garage band
Sex Pistols - A mid-tempo heavy metal band
The Clash - An intense rock and roll band (on speed)
The Dead Kennedy's - A surf band on speed
X - A rockabilly band on speed

Nostalgia is useless, make use of present time. There's a lot of great punk bands you haven't discovered that 30 years from now people will be saying they wished they saw.
david5345 2 years ago
no but the bands now won't be rememebred so much as the late 70's early 80's punk movement on the east and west coast and britain was when punk rock was at its peak and we missed it : (

Punk is constantly evolving, there are always great bands coming along, check out someone like Psyched To Die they're awesome. You sound like some wanna be hippie complaining about how the 60s are over. What's the fucking point? You might as well embrace what can you in the present as it's impossible to live in the past.
david5345 2 years ago
true im not a fuckin hippie i think the word ur thinking of is rememberance or something like that i like punk music old and some new like choking victim leftover crack and some punk bands that im friends with bu thats abouyt it
Oi325 2 years ago
List them then.
Metkay 2 years ago
Gallows, Psyched To Die, Banner Pilot, Rich White Males, The Bronx, Fucked Up, This Is Hell, Leftover Crack, Black President, Cobra Skulls
That's ten good bands I named off the top of my head who have formed in the last decade. If you can't find at least one band on this list who you like you don't like punk music.
david5345 2 years ago
or just the music today right?
Oi325 2 years ago
Sorry. The Bronx is the only good band on that list.
joesdomage666 2 years ago

Oi325 2 years ago 2
oh i was talking about how those asses were saying to enjoy this generation of shit music! but yeah that's another pile of bullshit that i don't want to delve into right now because thinking of it makes me wanna vomit! (the whole 'shane west "germs" thing)
missbraindamage 2 years ago
ha i have similar taste fuck this screamo bullshit they can goo fuck themsleves then cry and cut themselve fuck u and yur "shitty era" ha the new germs singer sucks old one should have never been replaced
Oi325 2 years ago
You're aware that Darby is dead right? And Shane West doesn't suck compared to Darby. Go look up a video of Darby Crash singing for The Germs and then make your comparison. I love The Germs and Darby but I can honestly say he was one of the worst stage singers in punk history haha.
Zoinkers222 2 years ago
i disagree alright he was like that cuz he took drugs yet his songs were good i dont care how bad he was on stage he was great to me yeah i know he is dead died december 7th 1980 which was a while ago yeah sucks but shane west is a fuckin actor and knew nothing about punk til after he did what we do is secret
