  • I have this whole collection on DVD, and that Sedgley scene just cracks me up.

  • @TreblaYevrah i have this collection to but my sound quailty isn't as good as the one on youtube, which collection do you have? I have the sherlock holmes the complete series 3 disc collection. It contains all 39 episodes. The front cover has a black and white picture of holmes smoking a pipe. Id this the one you have?

  • @rshobe1 Yes, that is the one I have as well. I didn't really notice the sound quality, just a few instances of dialogue getting cut off as a result of what I assume to be damage to the original film. I picked it up for five dollars, however, so the slight issues with the collection don't really bother me.

  • OMG the part with watson and the cabbie always makes me laugh! "the name is sedgly" "well sedgly, the corners of your beard are in DIRE NEED OF REPAIR!" LMAO!! well good day....sedgly... lol this was so funny!

  • I think if we were able to go back in time and ask Sheldon Reynolds he would tell us he was greatly influenced by the Rathbone/Bruce portryal as Holmes/Watson. It can not be a coincidence how closely Howard/Crawford resemble a younger version of Rathbone/Bruce and how their personalities and actions are almost identical to their predecessors.

  • I admit that Rathbone's Sherlock Holmes is utterly fascinating, and both couples do "feel like" Holmes and Watson, but after reading their adventures over and over again I can't enjoy these so much, and see Watson portrayed as a stuttering idiot.

Really, the Grenada series is the one closest to canon, and most fulfilling. Though Brett is "ugly" (most of the time) compared to both of the others.

  • @greengrendel I agree with the "Watson thing". Rathbone was fantastic but I think Jeremy Brett was even better...and he also looks better xD

  • @Dratini999 7 months later- you find me a Russian series fan X-D

  • @greengrendel Oh yeah Vasili Livanov is just so damn cute ^^

  • I love Howard/Crawford and Rathbone/Bruce as Sherlock/Watso. The worst to me was the Brett/Burwick- Harwick combo. I watched one or two but it just wasn't sherlock. They were completely wrong for the part in every way. Howard/Crawford I always imagine as the "younger" Holmes and Watson in the early stories and Rathbone/Bruce as the "Older" Holmes/Watson. If you picture Howard/Crawford as older men you have Rathbone/Bruce. They compliment each other brilliantly.

  • *falls over laughing* oh, really now! this is just too funny. cant wait to see what happens

  • i don't know how it was possible not to value ronald howard, this wonderful-great and lovely actor: he had his own, unbeliveable talent, absolutely different from his father's. genious-father's genious-son.

  • Ronald Howard was marvelous. I have a fan site in his honor.

  • I love this episode! when I watch these, I'm reminded of how much I adore Ronald Howard! I love Brett's Holmes, but these are a nice breath of fresh air- the Granada series can be a little mentally and emotionally draining occasionally. It's nice to watch something lighter. Crawford is also a riot! "Sedgley!" -ha ha! Thank you!

  • Please, if you know the meaning of this last line "Sedgley" could you explain to me?
