8 mile range maybe in a dry climate with clear lines of site and no vegetation then maybe but doubtful

its probably just me but i would be willing to spend around $80 for a set of 2 Motorola Talkabout® MS350. yeah they might be up there in price but they are water proof and have NOAA weather alerts. and a maximum range of 35 miles. now to me that sounds like a great deal

there good radios i have the same one but they are 460 MHz just like any other frs/gmrs radios it starts breakin up a block away from my friends house in nyc where i live at because of it's urban area
