I love the so called 'jazz' tone you can get from the neck pickup on a Tele. I recently got an old jazz box because I became slightly disenchanted with the Tele not being able to get that 'woody' sound on it - but I have to say I have gone back to it because Leo's machine is so damn responsive, versatile and elegant. Might have to get some Joe Barden pickups though - they sound great. Thanks for posting.
@OakPark11MileRd Yeah. I am ADD and all I focus on is the hum. It stinks! Consider yourself very lucky as you have loads of options. Check out Lindy Frailen's "Split-coil" tele pups. Pretty cool! Might have to try a set sometime myself!!
@OakPark11MileRd For someone like me who can't deal with noise, these are about the best thing going for a tele. I wish I could do traditional single coils (actually, the stock ones that came with this guitar sound wonderful) but in the end all I hear is hummmmmm! Thanks for the comment!
Nice chops! Traded my Strat for a '52 Tele RI, the previous owner installed Bardens (made in 2002) and a Fishman bridge with phase switch plus stereo jack. The Bardens are amazing, 40 years of playing and never heard nothing like them. They're expensive but worth every cent. Just scored some S Deluxe pickups on ebay for a Strat build.
@heinzdziurowitz Congrats! I like the strat pups even better!! The Bardens are different but really, really good! Once you are used to them, it is hard to play others! Let me know how the strat build turns out!
@tenorbanjoguy just installed the Strat pickups, these are from 2002, same year as the ones in my Tele. It's hard to believe but they sound even better than the Tele set. They sound like a Strat except better. The in-between sounds quack like a good Strat should and are much more usable. I've tried a lot of other noiseless pickups but these nail the single coil sound. Like you mentioned the only downside is my other guitars won't get as much playtime.

@sonomabob I would not fair well on the road!! Besides the other 10,000 guitarists that are better than me out there would have to quit!! :) Thanks Bob!
