The apostle Paul writes, let each man give according to his own income, without coercion and with a cheerful heart. Nowhere in the New Testament is tithing commanded. We must help the poor and the needy in the church/community when we can. Our own household is our first ministry... It's sad that so many preachers use old testament tithing laws to corrupt God's church with the health & wealth prosperity message.
Christians should ONLY stick with the word of God! Nowhere in the Bible did God ever command anyone to tithe money! Israel did exactly what God commanded them to do; they tithed FOOD ITEMS not money! We are no more obligated to tithe than we are to make animal sacrifices. Under the New Testament covenant our giving should not be focused primarily on money and there is NO condemnation or curse attached to how much or how little a person chooses to give!
When the Israelites left Egypt they were unorganized and without a government (gov't) - a perfect setup for total anarchy. Moses, under the auspices of God, established a system of governance (albeit a theocracy). Gov't(s) appoint state officials (Levitical priesthood) and hire workers from its citizenry (Levite tribe). A taxation system (tithing) supports this gov't. Tithing also pays for a gov't-run welfare system which provides for widows, orphans, and strangers. Is today's Church a Gov't?
I expected this to be a "how do you expect to get out of debt unless you Tithe? Tithing is God's way of teaching good stewardship over your finances! You can't afford to not Tithe, and God definitely wants you to trust Him in ALL circumstances!".
I'm pleasantly surprised to see that this video says we're to be lead by the Spirit, whether we have much or little.
@blueskunk12 Yes trust God by all means! But since tithing was merely FOOD for the Levite priests to eat, (those who cared for the temple) I wonder how you come to the conclusion that it could be ANYthing to do with finances, or relevant today? NEVER was it money! And nowhere in scripture does it tell us to give 10% of our income to a church or anyone else! Wake up, you’re being deceived!
@blueskunk12 Sorry my friend, I think I misunderstood your earlier comment. I am just so fed up with folks being misled by the heretical teaching of tithing money.

I didn't say that the Tithe is about finances or is relevant. Try reading my post again, and if it's still confusing, let me know.

Understandable. If people would only see for themselves. The Tithe is either:
1) A matter of law - which would make Christ's sacrifice meaningless.
2) A matter of principle - which would make Christ a liar.
Everyone who Tithes turns their back on Christ.
