I have shared it as much as I can - it's so important we try and learn the lessons from what's happened to stop us making the same mistakes in the future. @ITZBIZBUZ I believe in a world wide population control scheme. Every country should be encouraged to limit the population size. We should all join hands on Youtube, facebook etc.. and promote this idea of a 1 child per female limit.
Once the population size has gone down. People will enjoy a better quality of life. Everyone will have jobs. We no longer need to have a global economy. We can be a internal community based economy.

The problem isnt the fault of governments. Technology has become so advanced now, machines can do all the jobs of humans. Thats the problem. You only need a few humans to work, the rest is done by computers and machines.
So we need to lower the population size, otherwise we will have of loads of people who we dont know what to do with.

Watching some of the Parliamentary debate on the news today - they're seriouslt talking about removing people's benefits and social housing if they are convicted or being involved in the riots or looting. And this will help because...? It's truly shocking to me how this is being dealt with, I seriously want to leave this country - if this is the best we can do i'm going to start looking for alternatives now.

They were making those cuts anyway. Cameron is now smiling like a Cheshire cat because a) everyone has forgotten that his head was on the block for the phone-hacking scandal and b) nobody cares any longer about poor children, single mothers or ethnic minorities. PR field-day. I'm fuming.

What really gets me, and has cemented my decision to move away is the reaction from the general public. I am mostly friends with open-minded liberal types but even the vast majority of these refuse to try and understand why this has happened. The politicians don't surprise me, but the next time this happens there will be vigilante groups etc. I'm getting out.

You only have to watch the Darcus Howe interview to see how our news is being distorted. I'm genuinely scared of the reaction to riots being worse than the riots themselves. We will tear ouselves apart on the streets while the rich and powerful look on encouraging the hate & anger, and making the poor even poorer.

Not 'aberations of consciousness" is causing all this, but the material circumstances these young people are finding themselves in - insecurity about their future, perceived inequality, poverty. Poverty is not only having nothing to eat or no shelter, but you feel poor when you feel that the new needs that are being created - i-phones, better mark trainers... to name a few - are met only for the rich kids. You feel deprived if you or your parents don't get a good job.

But it's important to recognise how socially irresponsible the rioters have been (and how politically ineffectual) in order to get anyone whatsoever to listen to me. The news in Britain has been stirring the people into a frenzy of 'Send in the army! Heroes killed! Animals looting!' and I need to try to get moderate people on side by acknowledging their grievance.

Could someone explain why stopping and searching a race/class of people that statistics show are more likely to be involved with petty crime over a race/class of people who are not is so immoral? I question whether crime stats gathered after stopping-and-searching 8 times more black men with no reasonable causes might not be a) skewing said stats - if we stopped and searched 8 times more poor white men than black do you think the stats would shift? I do. b) whether or not such an action is likely to increase a distrust of the police force in those areas and therefore lend itself to a distaste for the laws themselves.

White collar crimes are also committed mostly by white men, I'll bet we'd all feel safer if we frequently stopped white dudes to see if they might be a hacker, embezzler or something.

@SordidWaif The white collar crime requires a higher degree of intelligence than direct thieving and violence. This could explain why fewer blacks are involved in it. However, there is plenty of fraud committed by blacks, especially the Nigerians who seem to have built up a large reputation in this regard.

For a start well done for making this video and being brave enough to post it here. I have shared it as much as I can - it's so important we try and learn the lessons from what's happened to stop us making the same mistakes in the future. As you say it was only in the 80's that riots like these happened before and obviously the lessons weren't learned last time. I'm hopeful for change, but honestly I expect this to happen again as soon as the kids are released from prison with even less to lose.

I was watching the news this afternoon, this guy was charged for robbing a shop during the riot got a 6 months sentence. There was this teenager came out of the court laughing.
The British justice system is a bloody joke. This is unbelievable. That kind of shit punishment is not going put the public at ease. Specially shop keepers. At times like this you kind of have respect for the Chinese and Islamic sharia style regimes.

Yes, that boy laughing coming out of court was playing up to cameras, and a certain section of society which is proud to break the law. That is exactly why I'm arguing for bettering social services, educational standards, job opportunities and community outreach programmes in those areas. No-one denies there is a problem here.

@WishCRUS4D3R we need to be realistic. We live in a overcrowded society and there is no way of giving every single person a education and a job. It cannot be done. No society in the world has achieved jobs for all.
The cheapest solution is to keep locking up offenders for long periods of time. 10 to 20 years.
Out of sight out of mind. We need to look after decent hard working people.What we should be working on is limiting the population, 1 child per female. This will improve living standards

@Eugenics2020 I understand what you're saying, but I'm trying to argue that locking people up is not a solution. In fact it makes things worse. Lets say a juvenile hoodlum commits a coupe of petty crimes and ends up in jail with hardened thugs and criminals. I bet you that that kid will be a hardened criminal by the time he gets out of jail. This is exactly what has happened in the US.
If you want to protect the 'decent' people, then we need to make society more equitable.

We need to put the fear of god into these people.

I've known 'gangsters' and with talking to them, a lot of them don't value their lives anymore, they really don't care and the reason they don't care is because nobody ever cared about them. They were left to rot by society. To them being 'outside' is just like being 'inside'.

What we could do is build loads of prisons and improve the standards in prison. Educate them, give them pyschological help, protect vulnerable prisoners. Civlise them while they are in prison

Yes there are some psychopaths who do terrible things just because that's who they are, but they are in the extreme minority. If you want to get rid of violent crime then you need to make society more equitable and improve the conditions which make it possible for ordinary people to turn into criminals.

You say we should spend money on people. We need establish what exactly are we going to spend money on.
We have people who dont want to work, we have people who dont want to do particular kind of jobs, we have people who want a huge some of cash to do a simple little job, otherwise they say they wont work.
