it's a preventive measure. our government is very serious about drugs, the way i understand it is that it protects the society from harm. on another note, it's to prevent major drug syndicates from forming within our society. it also sends out a message: don't fucking use us as a source of smuggling/transport of drugs.

I believe people should be given second chances. I mean this is a life we are talking about. We only get one. We all make mistakes... it isn't like these people who traffic drugs are rapists or murderers... I mean I can sort of understand it when someone is a cold blooded murderer... To put someone to death for trafficking drugs is like saying people can't become better... or they can't learn from their mistakes. How is this helping society?

Drugs are bad - yes. However, not all drug-traffickers are bad. Singaporeans do not understand that some of these traffickers come from poor families and they are often exploited by drug lords and vice circles to traffic drugs into Singapore. I agree with the man at 4:36 - 5:45, these traffickers should be given a second chance depending on their case. Drug lords are the ones ought to be executed, but they are not the ones doing the dirty work of a trafficker.

@morgaga Bottom line, he is too smart for his own good. Smart-alecs like him can very easily offend others. Though the penalty of carrying or trafficking drugs into countries should come down harsh as a form of deterrent, but I believe the government can do better by reviewing some exclusive cases where there is obvious exploitation involved. I am quite against the death penalty, there are so many things that the individual can do while serving his sentence, so why end his life and waste it?
