i just tried to make this and followed the recipe exactly. is it supposed to taste so salty and strange? i thought it would taste sweet...i just couldn't bring myself to eat it and ended up dumping the whole thing.
My girlfriend is thai and she never made it before but she is a great cook. Her grandmother made it for her in thailand i just made it and it came out great but i bet not as good as thai women anyway i hope she likes it to thank you :D
I make mine with lite coconut milk and use splenda instead of sugar, because this dessert can be pretty heavy in calories, fat and cholesterol. I know it's not authentic but it's pretty good adding pineapple chunks in with the bananas :) Whatever, I'm Thai!
its also pretty good adding nata de coco.fresh coconut meat.sweet potato.tiny rounded ball glutinous flour.and colorful tiny tapioca pearl!!! and add more fresh milk!! try it sweety;)
uu nga ginataang saging ..pag hinaluan pa ng malagkit( glutinous flour) na binilog ng maliit sk kamote (sweet potato) sk sago (tapioca pearls) sk nata de coco ,kaong, macapuno sk add more fresh milk isa na cyang special BILO BILO!!! hehehe ang sarap db?
I remember having this at a Thai restaurant- but they added little tapioca pearls. It was simply delicious. The best part is that it didn't have eggs or cows milk! Soooooo good.
Holy schist! I just cut up bananas and put coconut milk on it and it tasted good, so I looked up bananas with coconut milk and this came up! Im a chef and I dont even know it...
Just a thought. I've made this. HUGH hit. the second time I made it, I sprinkled shredded coconut over it. Just a little and it added a little crunch to it. Excellent with or without!!

StakyAll 9 months ago
@StakyAll Its easier to peel it from the bottom, thats why monkeys do it.

@Faiby wow, I cant eat it after a while, its tooooo sweet for me. Extremelly sweet. Uff
Faiby 1 year ago
@Faiby use less sugar. I would also suggest adding a little bit of water to dilute the coconut milk if it's too pungent for your palette.

@supercooled I propose to use NO sugar :)

To lighten on the fat:
Use 1/2 coconut milk
and 1/2 Skim milk
and lessen on the sugar
Using entirely coconut milk can be abit too heavy for some.
