I'm very anxious to see how well Buena Vista takes to the tapeta surface at Meydan in the Dubai World Cup? I think Buena Vista and Snow Fairy bring the most class into the potential DWC field this year. Both are capable of winning over 10 or 12f. The question for both is surface. Will both run the tapeta as well as they do turf? I also think if he adapts to the tapeta that Cape Blanco could be a dangerous horse in the DWC. Based on his front running Irish Champion Stakes win. JMO.
Well, at least Victoire Pisa can say he beat Buena Vista fair and square in this race. Even if it was by the slightest of margin's, and with her cutting him down every stride. That something that Rose Kingdom damn sure can't say!!
Buena Vista's a special, special filly. She just never run's a bad race. Win, lose, or draw? She's always right there with her run. Giving herself a shot to win. She dominated the Japan Cup, and IMO, should rightfully be recognized as such. She was beaten an inch, fair and square in this race. But only, and I mean ONLY, because Victoire Pisa sat a perfect trip, and had the rail. On pure ability, I think only Snow Fairy and what she's done in Europe, Japan, and Hong Kong, rival Buena Vista. JMO.
Both Victoire Pisa and Buena Vista put forth an outstanding effort in this race. That said, I really think Christophe Soumillion slightly mistimed his ride on Buena Vista. He started his run with the filly just a split second too late, IMO. Given the track position that Victoire Pisa had on the rail. He really did have the run of the race. Reverse position's of the two horses. Put Buena Vista on the rail where Victoire Pisa was, and vice versa? Buena Vista beats Victoire Pisa by 5 to 6 lengths.
@GBeret83 I don't know that there's that much between them. She was only 3-4 wide on the approach to the top of the lane and he was 1 off. The reason Victoire Pisa had such a good run was that he made a move when the pace was off that put him into the race at the 6... so wile he was in the best spot he also used up some petrol to make sure he was there. Granted Buena Vista is a nice horse, but remember VP ran good races in the Arc and in the Japan Cup this season.
