  • We KNOW that British people can't pronounce words and names from other languages correctly. That's just a given. It's like pointing out that cows can't fly. But I just don't care. It's funny and charming if anything.

  • KC, believe me, the vast majority of your fans don't care how you pronounce anything at all :) You could pronounce Pirc "kangaroo" and we would be just as happy and thrilled to see new videos :)

  • I love these 15min games. I hope to see some 30min ones some day.

  • its jabuuuuuka not jacuba.. the original perk guy

  • im traveling on vacation to uk next week.. the cold is discouraging me .. but oh well its february

  • "a juicy idea",lol, u do make me laugh, thats why i keep watching your videos... + some really nice games.... :)

  • KC - it's true that Alekhine didn't like his name pronounced as al-yock-in since he considered that a Jewish pronunciation but I don't think he objected to al-yeck-in.

  • The proper pronounciation of Pirc, Alekhin, and many other chess players too, is recorded on the channel of AnnieK1974. So there's no need to continue to get these names wrong. When I spoke to a Russian chessplayer in Moscow once, and mentioned Alekhin by pronouncing it Ale-kyne he didn't know who I was talking about.

  • 15. Qxd3

  • It's pronounced 'peertz'!

  • @ardweaden There's a video of John Nunn playing the Pirc against Karpov (the "TV Chess" series from the early 80s). He pronounces it this way; claims to have written a book on the opening.

  • @kaewonf8 I'm from Slovenia and Vasja Pirc (who invented this opening) was from slovenia as well. Pirc is a usual slovenian surname (35th most common) and I (as a native speaker) should pronounce it correctly. My knowledge of Slovenian language was (and is) always marked with 'excellent'. That's why I believe I have enough references to claim my pronounciation is correct.

Unfortunately, my English is not marked that well.

  • i like how he still played b5 like saying bring it on, i've got it all defended and i have plenty of time and resources to play in the queen side

  • At the local chess club this was pronounced ("Prick")

  • kc sac attack, strap yrself in!!

  • What a brilliant insta-spot for the mate!

  • That was a nice mate !! Yes.. its cold up here too. -10 to -15 degrees. The polar bears are coming down from the north at this time of the year, seeking shelter in the garage at nights. Hahaha good one. :D

  • sc.one or sco.ne?

  • On move 14 you could have played a3 straight away, since if Qxb2 there's Na4 trapping the queen. This trapping motif presents itself surprisingly often so it's handy to know.

  • @PachinkoTendo 14 ... Nb6xa4

  • @radiofreevillage Ah, my mistake.

  • Also, I don't know why you apologise for the piece sacrifice at the end. I liked the ending a lot.

Lastly, you have probavly played against jabuka27 more than against any other player on icc!

  • Loved the "pronounced 'Perk'" bit. :) Vasja Pirc was Slovenian, and I've been to Slovenia twice - very beautiful place. You can pronounce Pirc however you like! But I like to pronounce it like the Slovenians do... hopefully you understand!

  • @xactxx you're the man! :)

  • Glad I live in sunny california.

  • @bored719 hahaha I was thinking the same thing...Im in sunny San Diego :D

  • Your ending was nice and puzzle-like.

Btw, you make a big fuss about pronunciation. "Fianchetto," "Alekhine," and now "Pirc" are all problem words for you. I don't care how you choose to pronounce them, but you seem very sensitive to criticism about your pronunciation. I hope that's not the case, because most of us are subscribed to you because we're FANS, not because we want to burn you on your pronunciation.

  • @mraxeguy BTW You really need to stop using the Alekhine example. It is very complex as an example because he did move to Europe and didn't want it pronounced in a certain way.

  • @kingscrusher Sorry when I say "you" I mean those that are very strict on pronunciation issues should perhaps steer away from the Alekhine example. Thanks for reassuring me that the pronounciation issues are not major in the scheme of things.

  • -13 Celsius in Denmark

  • oh, dear, oh dear, you again pronounced wrong "jabuka" that's russian word for an apple | јабука.

  • @oxiigen that's bullshit, it's not russian word at all and apple in russian is "яблоко"

  • @danilpendikov he/she meant serbian/croatian :)

  • @danilpendikov right, it's Proto-Slavic from Proto-Indo-European *h₂eph₃ōl.

but maybe it's a mediterranian island even, eh!? but guess what, it's not Ios like poork. :P

  • lolll nice subtitle

  • -33 celcius here in northern part of Sweden
