The Taliban are native Afghanis, and once were the ruling power in Afghanistan. They are native religious fanatics, not imported from Arabia or other countries. Al Qaeda (mostly from Arabia and non-Afghani) used them to hide their intent to attack the US. They were easy for al Qaeda to use, as they were less sophisticated. The Taliban had nothing to do with the attack on the US but now may applaud it as an act of purification, as the wahabis/al Qaeda and Taliban want a pure Islam.

Don't confuse al Qaeda with the Taliban. al Qaeda was originally the base where the mujahedeen fighters were trained to attack the Russians in the 1980s. It was codified in 1988, and gained independence and more power when Bin Laden (a multi-millionaire relative of the Bin Laden Bros. Construction Co. of Saudi Arabia) joined the group. The focus is wahhabism, a Saudi brand of religious fanaticism. Russia is still fighting the wahhabi Chechens, who continue their attacks today in Russia.

We would pay the national debt in a matter of years, and we can go back to building permanent growth that is sustainable by bringing back manufacturing, and stop globalization, and create local unity within our Continent, and most important our the safety of our hemisphere. I would agree with you if we pulled ALL our troops home. Closed our borders completely, rebuilt our manufacturing base, improved our agriculture and water usage. I don't like Obama, I don't like these wars. However as both an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran I support his decision. My unit alone was tasked with over 110 Sq. Miles of terrain in 2007. We are way undermanned.
