  • Coen brothers are the only good directors that are out right now

  • i cant watch another one of these

Kubrick vs. Scorsese is like the Yankees vs. professional bowling

  • I hate the coen Brothers Kubrick wins Scorses is amazing tho

  • @3Axy10Est13 seriously, WO GIVES A FLYING FUCK what your sad, semi-literate ass thinks about anything?

  • @GretaGargoyle semi-illiterate...because i wrote tho? you dont have any intellectual thing to say so you have to point out a mispelled word, i know how to spell you ignorant tool. The Coen Brothers are overated as hell. Burn After Reading was painfull to watch, they try way to hard to be unique and end up making shit films because of it.

  • So many directors look up to these guys without them movies would suck Coen Brothers Tarantino these guys both inspire them Coen Bros are big fans of Kubrick.

  • What do we decide? You either enjoy their work or you don't. Its not a competition. I learned alot of both of them. I have 12 fathers and they are two of them.

  • Kubrick off course and then Polanski.

  • Both are GREAT and they are 2 of the best filmakers in HISTORY!...Im a little more fan of MARTY SCORSESE,but KUBRICK is GOD! I dont like the list of films... SCORSESE PICTURES: 1-RAGING BULL. 2-TAXI DRIVER. 3-GOODFELLAS. 4-THE AGE OF INNOCENE.(masterpiece of period, beautiful film) 5-THE AVIATOR. 6-AFTER HOURS. 7-THE LAST THEMPTATION OF CRHIST. 8-THE DEPARTED. 9-GANGS OF NEW YORK. 10-CASINO. 11-SHUTTER ISLAND. 12-MEAN STREETS. IN THE KUBRICK LIST ARE MISS 2: FULL METAL JACKET DR. STRANGELOVE.
  • Imagine if Kubrick directed "Taxi Driver" - that seems like an interesting way to compare the two directors. Or Scorsese directing "Full Metal Jacket"

  • Kubrick

  • Kubrick is the director's director you cant compare him to anybody cos there was no body to shot a movie like he did in history he was absolutely the best with craft and took many shot's everything in his movies is perfect but he did only like 13 movies in 40 years , plus Kubrick movie always tell more than one story so you have to wath them again and again to understand

  • Man are you Scorsese trying to be kubrick?

so you know Nietzsche talking about Zarathustra?

it's a man trying to be god...

in this questiion: scroseze (one of the best) trying to compare to GOD (that's Kubrick)

there's no any doubt KUBRICK... but in reality kubrick is long ahead to others.... scorseze, woody allen, coppola, ford, eisestein, tarkovski, they are all very good, but no comparaison to Kubrick....

  • kUBRICK

  • There were plenty of much more talented people out there in the art world who never had a chance to make their mark in the film industry because scumbags like these fuckers prevented them from having a chance to even get through the first door. I don't know where you got the 3,493 number which as far as i can figure has no significance to anyone but yourself.

  • They are/were both mob affiliated scumbags. They were both well known for being thieves and welshers.

    So who cares?

  • @Therealtaxidriver apparently 3,493 people. They made art, what does mob affiliation matter? Not one bit.

  • Kubrick = Mount Everest 29,029 ft

    Scorsese = K2 28,251 ft

  • kubrick is a genious and one of the greatest, but i pick Martin Scorsese

  • Tough choice, but I'd go with Kubrick

  • As Leonardo Di Caprio said, in a thousand years from now there will be only one name for master filmmaking and that name is mr. Martin Scorsese. There is no frickin doubt about it, the greatest american director of all time!

  • I said Kubrick on a previous 'Kubrick vs. Scorsese, and I pretty much stick to it as my personal opinion, but who the fuck would be as obtuse to ask such a question?

  • Kubrick is flawless, but Scorsese is divine. Scorsese trys to show the scum of the world and how people kill for money, gangs, drugs, money and violance. Kubrick is more of a visionary director, he has an idea that he likes and he won't stop till he makes an epic.

    Scorsese's top 3: 3.Raging Bull 2.Taxi Driver 1.Goodfellas.

    Kubrick's top 3: 3.Dr. Strangelove 2.Clockwork Orange 1. 2001 A Space Oydessy.

    I can't dicide.

  • apples and oranges.

  • No doubts,

    STANLEY KUBRICK. . !

  • @tagadi22 sorry man, i made the music myself on garageband.

  • I love Scorsese to death, but he has disappointed me on more than one occasion. Kubrick, on the other hand, was flawless.

  • There is absolutely no doubt who is the true artist----it is Kubrick who has the greatest respect for cinema and what it can do. Scorsese has of late descended into crowd-pleasing pablum. He could NEVER make anything as great as 2001, Clockwork Orange, Dr. Stranglelove. Kubrick is genius and Scorsese---well, isn't.

  • @madahad9 I disagree he transcends the crime genre, if nothing else he is considered a great director in the crime genre with Mean Streets, Goodfellas, Casino, etc.

  • can you Camron vs Scott thats an epic match up

  • @cooperandthegoons shut the fuck up bitch! Ridley Scott, no competition with James Cameron....????

  • @eraserheadtoker first off calm down man it was just a comment. Second thing Scott can be compared with Cameron directing movies like Alien, Blade Runner, Gladiator, American Gangster and Black Hawk Down. Yes hes made some mistakes, Im looking at you GI Jane but so has Cameron. Look at true lies not to mention Camerons about 20 years younger than Scott. So maybe in 20 years Cameron will have some flops to his name to

  • @cooperandthegoons Actually I got my shit mixed up. I am an admirer of Ridley Scott, but not James Cameron. You are correct about Ridley Scott's greats, even though you left some out, like Black Rain, Legend, and hannibal. And I do actually like GI Jane, well pretty much anything Ridley Scott pulls out of his ass. But I only like a couple of Cameron's films like Terminator and Aliens, and Avatar, but i think that's it. Scott vs Michael would be better

  • KUBRICK

  • Scorsese masterpieces: Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Goosfellas 3

great movies: Mean Streets, The Departed, aviator 3

really bad movies: gangs of new york, casino, shutter island 3

Kubrick masterpeices: 2001, Clockwork, Stranglelove, Spartacus 4

great movies: The Killing, Paths of Glory, The Shining, FMJ

    no bad movies...

so though scorsese might have the BEST movie, i think Kubrick's better cause he hasnt made 1 bad movie, also i think his movies are more inventive

  • Both are equally genius in my opinion. Scorsese is more for entertainment value then Kubrick is. But he also does symbolism like Kubrick at (Shutter Island shows this perfectly). 2001 and Raging Bull are two of the best movies ever made, art is art and it only comes down to personal opinion.

  • few directores compare to Kubrick and Scorsese is not one of them

  • Its a very difficult question. By necessity, Scorsese descends/derives from Kubrick, and yet appears, at times, to surpass him. Scorsese is best when he deals with domestic stories, individuals; he is a very colloquial, settled director. Meanwhile, Kubrick is all over the board; never sticking to one genre, one never senses he has a Kubrickian touch, a STYLE, which is a rather odd observation, as all his films are rather stylized (to the point of being rigid). I enjoy the discussion thus far

  • @PescopagonaPictures Are you kidding? There are so many "Kubrickian" traits. More so then any other filmaker, I believe. One can instanly tell the camera work of Kubrick and his films have a common thread however different they are. They moving camera work, the upward shot of a person in total breakdown, the lighting, the colors and on and on make Kubrick instantly identifiable. Also, his works are much more intellectual than Scorcese. Scorcese has lost it, I feel. He peaked with Goodfellas.

  • Scorsese wins by a slide kubrick is great il say that but not neserily "amazing" half of clockwork orange i spent almost throwing up with the sickness of that dumb shit beating old men his movies disturb and you dont enjoy em, scorsese has one 17 oscars for all his films, why? Cuase there good so shut the hell up you clearly dont know what your talking about

  • I like Scorsese but Kubrick is in a class above him

  • Kubrick wins. Scorsese is all style, no substance. Pauline Kael was right when she said Scorsese was all about the bravaura of cinema. Kubrick is the intellect, the substance, but unlike other cerebral directors his films offer basic spectacle.
