I like James Franco's interviews. He always seems so genuine and relaxed. Not rehearsed at all. I have seen the same actor give the same exact answers to questions on multiple mtalk shows. How boring. James Franco is usually interesting.
For those who are interested what James Franco has written about his stint on GH can just google "James Franco performance art" and you should be able to find an online article, written by him, on the Wall Street Journal called "A Star, a Soap and the Meaning of Art"
His manager called up GH…and when asked what he wanted to do, if he wanted to write or be any character he wanted, all he said was that he wanted his character to be a both an artist and crazy as well…and he wanted them to come up with everything else. And James’ mother was also in it as well, playing Franco’s mother looool. And he said in an interview his mother, whose first professional acting job was in GH, was playing it like she was stoned and he found that quite disturbing haha.
On an interview on DeGeneres' show, he says that soaps should be taken seriously and people looks shouldn’t look down on soap operas…and he even accepts that it is actually hard work because stories have to be churned out weekly...whereas in a film, you can’t have storylines that run for years because all the storylines are encompassed in one film (or sometimes in a sequel etc). Plus, since he doesn’t receive the scripts in one go, unlike in movies where you do, he is constantly surprised etc

I have a grandson who looks just like James Franco in "Pineapple Express." No, he isn't a doper. He is just a handsome young man who looks like Franco and works hard at his job.

The Franco storyline was POINTLESS. Nothing against James, it just brought nothing to the canvas... they wasted his potential. He acted well, but again... found the story more of a "lame duck"

He approached us. And we all had the same reaction of Really? Are you kidding? What we know is that he told his manager, Miles Levy, that he wanted to do a soap opera. Miles also represents one of our actors [Steve Burton], and when we were talking about other issues, he brought it up and said that James had heard [soaps] are hard and thought it would be fun to try. My head writer Bob Guza and I called James in Ireland, where he was doing a movie, and gave him the lay of the land
He has the same agent as Steve Burton and thats why he picked GH cause the agent has connections to the show already it had nothing to do with any story in particular. He has never watched it.
That was an article from a website as to why James Franco is on GH had nothing to do with the mob or anything... he just heard it was hard and wanted to try it.. and since Steve and him share and Agent it was easy for him to get in there.
words cannot describe how much i love this man!!!!!!!!!! hes been one of my favorite celebrity crushes and i love him as an actor, i loved pineapple express, spider-man movies, and milk=] and he should do more movies. i love him even more now that he is on my fav soap opera!!! i think its great that he is challenging himself and really branching out his talent!
He should stay away from soaps and hosting Oscars. Love him everywhere else.

He IS from Nor-cal. My son's pre-school teacher taught him as a little kid. I think he's from Palo Alto. But he does the NYC accent very well
