oh and by the way the ex-CNW line goes past far western Springfield, but its northern terminus is actually Nelson, Illinois. From St. Louis to Staunton, IL, it's abandoned; from Staunton to Green Ridge, IL, it's still used, from Green Ridge to Barr (which is just outside northwestern Springfield), it's abandoned, and from Barr to Nelson, it's still used. Anyway, great video. This is the only footage I know of of this ex-CNW line. I live in Glen Carbon. :)

I live in Glen Carbon, and moved here in May of 2002, only about a year after the NS (ex-NKP) and the UP (ex-CNW, and, before that, L&M) lines were abandoned. The UP was abandoned in March 2001, and the NS was abandoned in 2000. I wish I could have gotten to see the lines before they were abandoned :(
I am 14 (born July 7, 1995), and had I lived here my whole life, I would have remembered the trains, as I can remember as long ago as when I was two...

Very Nice! I chased the E-9's to Clinton, Iowa in 1995, they are beautiful!
