  • Poor bob..

  • very effective training drills, thanks for sharing..where is your school located, Ive always wanted to learn Kenpo.

  • Hello Sensei, I'm posting a video shortly but I didn't include any elbow strikes in this drill sequence but I am doing a series of strike combinations.

  • Mr.Zoran, i like your video and i thank u for sharing it. I having taken the moves that you showed and i have added it to my training. I will be posting a video soon, like tomorrow and if you see it, you will see some of ur techniques. I hope you will critique my moves and be honest and let me know in ur opinion how i can improve and what i am missing. Again thanks for sharing.

  • @sandanIII No problem. When it is up and I get a chance to view it, I will give you some feedback.

  • this is the reason BOB exist in the first place... I'd prefer more footowork, but we can't have everything.

  • very nice drill. i have a bob at home and haven't used it in ages. now i have a reason to bring it out again.

  • I'm a Traditional Okinawa goju ryu practitioner and not a big fan of american kempo for a number of reasons buy this is probably the best bit of kempo I've seen on youtube well done great clear instruction great technique and power !

  • poor bob.... beatin the hell out of him!!

  • I really like the statements made at 4:18 speed an power. I don't practice any art but could see the difference in the two examples. thank you

  • I am like yourself middle aged, and not exactly an Adonis type...

It is great to see at our age, we are still practicing martial arts...:)

  • What if my opponent actually has arms, then what do I do?

  • @Donovanisaboss87 Since he still doesn't have legs, just run away.

  • Good teacher. Calm and clearly explained. Thank you.

  • Excellent video Sir!! Well explained!! And Equally well demo'ed!! Where did you get your white name patch on your suit made? WB

  • Are you related to Steven Segal? I couldn't even see your hands move at the beginning! Holy SHIT!

  • Excellent. Thank you for taking the time to educate people. You have an awesome skill. Great stuff...

  • hes the kenpo version of alec baldwin.

  • Nice video... Definately saw 'five swords' and 'trigger salute' in there... :) Transition to the restart looks like a little piece of 'hooking wings' to boot...

  • very nice

  • Nice work. Would like to see more videos on the white tiger system.

  • Great drill thanks.

  • @ElfredBumm That middle-aged fat white guy could tear us apart. A lot of the kenpo guys are like everyone else, some are hard core gym athletes, some are just parents and husbands who train when they can. But, what they all have in common, is the principles of an art that teaches a person to develop extreme speed and power to appropriate targets, based on physics and human kinesiology though the most efficent movements. In short, anyone can utilize this art, because it works.

  • Pretty cool, kida fast to follow but nice nonetheless.....

  • screw the haters on the internet that probably have no knowlage anyway you have some great information and knowlage of mechanics in the video, i do wonder though if Kenpo (of which i know nothing about) could use more lower body hip movement for power instead of the upper body it seems to use a little more or are my eyes deseaving me?

  • @humanzombie2006 I am a kenpo martial artist and if you follow the video closely he is using lower body mechanics, watch his hips shift as he does the strikes, I believe he is shifting back and forth between a neutral and forward bo

  • very beautiful very well done

  • Whats with all the hate? nice video.

  • Screw these guys Zoran, your very impressive. Not only your physical demonstration, but also you are well spoken person.

  • @KKMotionMechanic Thanks. I don't sweat it. This sort of behavior is all too common on the internet.

  • I want to see the cheeseburgers and pizza eating flow drill

  • WOW

  • The man is showing you a drill. Why are there so many of you attacking him with wisecracks? I don't get it. Jeez!

  • i love how the masters are always middle aged, fat, white guys lmao

  • @ElfredBumm Middle aged, fat, and white, yes. Master no. I am just another student of the martial arts.

  • @zoransevic to be honest with ya that's why it looked so impressive. you should suggest to the wisecrackers that they have arms lol

  • thumbs up if u tought it was two guys

  • the dummy couldnt take it any more so he screamed at the end xD

  • @ElfredBumm What would you know? Idiot!

  • very good, but bag no hit back

  • @likeomgutube QUOTE: "very good, but bag no hit back"

Gee, first time I heard that one. ;-)

  • @likeomgutube, yeah uh, it's a drill.

  • @79blackbelt ummm uhhhhhhhhh can refresh my memory on what i actually said I went back 8 MONTHS and than lost interest. well im gonna go comment on other comments on other videos that take back like 3 years. take care faggit

  • Nice work.

  • Loving the rhythm. Even though it may not simulate a real fight, it teaches you how to use the closest weapon to the closest target.

  • haha I didn't realize it was a mirror there and thought "wow, these guys are really synchronized,.."

  • ITS MR. KICKY!!!

  • Serious question here: How many strikes can you do in one second?

  • @katanaburner Never really considered it but I got curious so a looked at the vid. At the end the drill went 4:48 to 4:57 (lets round it off to 10 sec). I did 5 sets of that drill which is 10 strikes per set. So on the video, that would be 5 strikes per second. I could maybe do 6-7 strikes if I did not pace myself. Anymore than that and I would not be happy with the power being generated.

  • @zoransevic It doesnt matter if you can strike 5 or 7 or even 10 times a second. What matters is that those strikes are effective. I recommend the bob dummy to all kenpoka. It is superior to technique lines because it replicates a body pretty well and you can strike it as hard as you need to. It will show you the intricacies of the technique in as realistic a way as possible(unfortunately, we cant use full power to practice on our partners. This is a major shortcoming of kenpo).

  • @peccleft64 I agree. Just a curiosity based on a question from a viewer. Although, I will say it can matter how fast as many will sacrifice power and effectiveness for speed.

  • Very good drill!

  • Good point on the people that bitch slap lol!

  • i survived all those attacks before

  • @sicoflamez

    Wow, that's incredible.

  • First of all, I'd like to say how surprising and refreshing it is to run across a useful drill that is so clearly explained. Secondly, your presentation is no-nonsense and matter-of-fact transfer of information. Among the plethora of "masters" who promulgate useless crap for the purpose of self-aggrandizement, you stand out as humble and competent. Thank you so much.

  • @Kwimalo Very well put! I agree completely. Infact his videos is a big part of why I recently joined a Kenpo club. He made me more interested in Kenpo (I was "looking for a new martial art" to learn besides Wadokai Karate).

  • @UltraRebels If you find an instructor like this guy, you'll do well. In my time in the martial arts, being subjected to training methodologies that were presented as fighting techniques has been a significant source of confusion for me and is a recurrent weakness in Traditional Martial Arts. This man is honest with his students about what is what.

  • he makes music as he punches the dummy ^_^

  • @tiggerhong186 Very good observation. I do listen to and feel the rhythm when working flow drills and other techniques. Once one has learned a particular combination of movements, one should move away from the move this arm here while I move foot there. There is a general rhythm one can feel and if one wants to change the effect of said combination, then one only needs to change the rhythm.

  • @zoransevic You should see if you can get a breakbeat rhythm going. By the way, the dummy and his massive family are all universally hated by all martial artists around the world - they always seem to get beat up good and still want more.

  • simply awesome, going for 2nd dan at end of year, will use for my hand techniques, many thanks, kempo student from scotland

  • Opponent may move back as the strikes begin hitting their chosen targets that's true but that's where your footwork comes in, you moves w/ the opponent or away as the threat level requires it!

  • I started this drill a month ago prior to learning Five Swords, and this drill definitely helped with timing and speed. Thanks for posting.

  • Thanks will start practing right away!!!!

  • Bloody hell man! The dude that ever decides to mess with you is going to have the worst day of his life. ;-)

  • AWESOME!! thanks for sharing!

  • Wow. that was awesome. It's so quick I don't think the bad guy would be able to think fast enough to back away during the first pass. Do you know anyone in NE FL area that you could reccomend? I am closest to Jacksonville. I have loved Kenpo since I first saw the movie The Perfect Weapon with Jeff Speakman. I have always understood Kenpo to mean, The Way of the Fist. Is this accurate? What are the differences between Kenpo and Kempo? Thanks!

  • I loved how you immediately shot down the Octagon-Heads by comparing it to popular ring sport exercises. Because, as you know, "If it isn't widely used in the octagon, it's a BS Martial Art" right? -__- I hate mainstream things sometimes.

In any case, wonderful drill. Looks like fun :) I need to save up for a B.O.B.

  • Hey, thanks for teaching me about Drills. I am also involved in Kenpo, and I do own my own B.O.B. This video was very helpful, so I spent an hour watching this video and doing the drill.

  • i would not wanna be the bag

  • cool!! thanks for posting!!

  • Great video man!! Thanks for posting! Excellent points here and very well explained

  • Good drill

  • wow nice video and make more like this one with the Century BOB punching dummy

  • I dont think a person would just stay there thats long..

  • @crazyhunter300 Like I said on the video, it's a drill. Same can be said when you work a heavy bag or speed bag.

  • @zoransevic speed and heavy bag moves and sways so you constantly have to adjust your footwork and possitioning for the heavy bag and have follow through and timing for the speed bag. other than that this exercise would be better suited for pads although, i still think its a serious training aid.

  • @crazyhunter300 me neither. The body goes back after a strike. Unless it is to the ropes.

  • you would be surprised what one can do

  • @crazyhunter300

You're right, the person would be on the ground with severe injuries.

  • Great drill. It also works on a stanard bag, it is just a little harder, for me anyway.

    Great work out!

  • He's the real deal. Very clear.

  • kolko kosta to? To je stvarno skupo, i jacu jedan kupit da mozem trajnirat kickbox na tome. Je'll ti znas gde mozes to chabba kupit?

  • BOB didn't stand a chance!

  • Easy to pick on a guy who has no arms.

  • @DickBeeter He is not picking on anyone. That is what would happen if someone got in this guys face and started trouble!

  • @DickBeeter

    Sounds like you have experience.

  • @DickBeeter Have you ever used Kenpo on another human. I have and it awesome but just sparring. Thats really it. Its pretty awesome. Its fast and effective.

  • Very fluid, yet POWERFUL as well. This is an excellent drill. I am a fan of Jeff Speakman, and have begun self-training using his videos. I am delighted by your talents. I have seen others perform similar drills, but with very little power. Great job. Please keep posting videos so I can learn from you as well.

    Rick Andresen

  • Yeah. I hope you never run into anybody that actually knows how to fight. Pathetic, slapping a dumbie.

  • @rockerD1717 Like you right you mighty keyboard warrior you!

  • Excellent drill sir. Thanking you for sharing your knowledge and showing that the true spirit of kenpo still exists.

  • Wow, you move like a white tiger.

  • very nice drill sir thank you

  • Thank you so much! I will be sharing this with 150 students, if you don't mind....Likewise the more I play the more I learn about it. What you can substitute, what you can't.... Beautiful drill. Kenpo has a lot to teach us all.

    Osu

  • nice job

  • Nice drill

  • Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback. I love youtube because of the ability to share knowledge. I am really glad that so many of you find this drill of some use. I am also honored by those that feel it is worth teaching their students.

    Thanks everyone!

  • @zoransevic Thanks for this excellent drill!

  • @zoransevic I want to thank you for the drill my friend! I too am a 5th dan and I have quite a few drills that I too will share via youtube.

  • @zoransevic I have just days ago signed for a beginners course at a local Kenpo club (next semester starts in august). Before that I watched alot of clips here on youtube to find out more about Kenpo and also to find what martial art seems to "fit me" best. I have trained Wadokai Karate for along time but feel I want to try something new.

Your videos are some of my favourites. You teach in a good way and choose interesting techniques that makes me want to know more. So thanka alot for sharing!

  • I like the drill. Once i get my bob filled up and get good at the drill i will have my students use it. thanks for the drill ;)

  • good to see a kenpo practioner doing a repetitive drill of any sorts. something that i personally was lacking in my kenpo training and had to add later, no offense to the art just my experience. best wishes

  • Great drill.

  • Great video. Thanks for taking the time to create it and post it.

  • This trash is rediculous, He's confused as he talks, cant even remember his own combination.

  • @darrellwillis1 "Confused"? I can not imagine any reason not to understand what's going on, unless one's attention span is that of a kitten.

  • Comment removed

  • @darrellwillis1 you spelling ridiculous is ridiculous. He's trying to credit other styles for having similar concepts and is pausing for accuracy. Calling a viable drill "trash" because you don't like how a presenter speaks, is absurd. It's like saying, "that martial arts master from China can't speak proper English, there's no way he knows kung fu." In short, you're an idiot.

  • I have a Slam man and this drill works equally well on it, although I do want to get a Bob so that I can really cut loose withoout fear of damaging the dummy. Ive managed to "injure" my slam man by striking it wearing karate gloves instead of boxing gloves.

  • I really, REALLY miss taking Kenpo !

One of the most beautifully lethal arts in existence.

    Nicely done, by the way.

  • Very good instruction, especially the part towards the end where you mention to not just do speed-crazy, no-power movements.

  • I love it! Thanks for posting.

  • This is awesome! I just started training at Mr. Sav's dojo and I love it. I'm definitely going to work this in after I loosen up my strikes!

  • I love watching Machida move with his opponent and utilise his karate foundation for his attack. It really is like watching a work of art how he approaches his fights. I would think karate people woul dlove watching him fight.........it's prettty cool.

Thanks---------good luck in training and teaching!

  • Awesome video Zoran.

I have been training in various martial arts, a while kenpo. I think kenpo is awesome.

I have noticed that in sparring and in fights, "closing the distance" is important to do a lot of the techniques I've learned in kenpo. However, closing the distance is easier said than done. So would you say that b/c of the limited amount of time you have in this window of time, that when you time and release a kenpo combo, that you are trying to land just 1 or 2 strikes, insead of6

  • @freespadersuggs

and when do you "go in" to close the distance? do you have any words of wisdom when it comes to closing the distance? are you reacting or usually do you look for something specific and go in for the attack or both? because to be honest, you can learn all the muay thai strikes, boxing combos, or kenpo techniques oin the world but they are not going to work if you don't know how to close the gap. any tips?

  • @freespadersuggs

Closing the distance is a subject that would require hands on training. Written word and video will only get you so far. I will say personally, I favor moving in fast, close and aggressively. Attempting to smother all strikes and throwing my attacker off balance. This is for self defense and a very short overview. Without proper training, this response could be a liability.

Bottom line, don't fight, end it quickly.

  • @zoransevic

Thanks, I appreciate the tips. Just so you know I have sparred in kenpo but I never really tried to perfect my own unique style of "closing the distance". I know it sounds dumb, but I would just spar. I'm going to try to work on that and see if movement away from my opponent, in various ways would help in that.

Also, I don't know if you're a fan of MMA or not, but i would highly recommend watching Lyoto machida's next fight. He is a karate guy and has excellent movement

  • Love the vid sir! See at the school soon

  • great video

  • Thanks very much. Just picked up the Bob and needed some ideas. This is very helpful and fun.

  • Simply amazing!

  • awsome drill! just what ive been looking for. all the striking techniques you use are very kenpo like.

  • nice drill, thanks.

  • palms to the ears are brutal

  • Nice drill sir 5 stars. loved it real fast and well done.

    Master Moran

  • Awesome video! A great drill indeed. I definitely like the comments about the need for both speed and power. Too many sacrifice power so they can look faster.

    *A salute from Parker Kenpo*

  • Really good video, very useful as a training aid and well explained. Thank you for posting it.

  • Thanks

  • I like your comment for making sure there is power and bot just speed. I noticed when you actually deliver the strikes you are rooted...hence the dummy actually shifting. i had a similar drill flow that changed up the linear and circular delivery of momentum transfer. good video sir!

  • Thanks, glad you liked it.

  • Dear Professor, thank You so much for the lesson. I have found this drill to be interesting and useful, because the technique used in the drill is the Five Swords and is in the very heart of kenpo, and In this case we learn basic striking skills as we deliver them in a flow on both sides. Extremely beneficial drill for those who practice Kenpo. Bless You!!!

  • Your welcome. I am glad it is of some use.

  • Nice vid!

  • Awesome! Thanks for the video response. I'm going to try it out today. Especially the Torso hits.

  • Your welcome.

  • Great drill sensei!!! I got on here to get some ideas for drills with my new bob (Christmas gift)

I modified this drill (substituted a groin strike for vert. punch, and added a couple of knee strikes), and use it to drill strike flow for combat jujitsu. Works great!

Best flow drill on youtube in my opinion. Keep the bob/drill video's coming! Can't thank you enough, sir!

    *bow*

  • Your very welcome. I did this vid in the hopes that martial artists would find a use for it.

  • Very nice, sir. The more I play with this drill, the more I like it.

  • Thanks.

  • @JEllisKenpo

Agreed. Very nice drill & nicely taught.
