u guys gotta get a life man the movie was great so shut the fuck up bout generation 1 theres more then generation 1 to the fuckin transformers universe u bunch of fuckin losers ahahahahhaha
Of course a literal translation from cartoon to live action has a high chance of sucking. That's why you need to tweak it a bit, like how Batman was upgraded from wearing gray tights to black body armor. But the TF movie is TF in name only.
Yes, there IS much more to Transformers than G1. Sadly, the new movie didn't touch any of THAT either. It didn't need to be G1, but it should not have been what it is now.
I actually have a much deeper respect for Batman & Robin than Transformers '07 here. At least Schumacher & Co. can laugh about themselves after the reaction by the fans, as opposed to Bay who puts down any nay-sayer for being a whiney little bitch.
Uh, Spiderman 3 as not that faithful at all. Who care if they follow the old school stuff. Old comics and cartoons were corny as hell, they needed to change.
His point is that Bay was talking all the time about the importance of realism and how the cartoons had unrealistic transformations blah blah... and then goes on and ignores it in the movie!
spiderman is pretty faithful to the source material so why can't the transformers be. The Transformer comics both the US and UK ones had great stories. I will see the film but I am expecting it to be a good film rather than a good transformers film. The designs of the actual transformers I cant stand however and to the people who say shut up I say would Spiderman fans like it him not having his iconic suit in the films.
Um, sorry I wrote so much. And sorry for confusing Vector Sigma with the All-Spark. I guess it was that damned Beast Machines that confused me, since the Oracle's connection to Vector Sigma linked Optimus to the Matrix/All-Spark. My bad.
And I do think that the Transformers role in the movie was too small, and they should not have been treated as secondary characters.
You see, I do have my own complaints about the movie. But I still liked it. I am in no way blindly defending it. I think it was a good movie, but perhaps not a good Transformers movie.
My thoughts exactly - it's actually an good action movie, but it could as well have been called "Giant Alien Robots" for all it's relevance to the transformers. The only reason it's called "Transformers" is to draw in more people to see it.
That doesn't really bother me, it's Michael Bay's claims of "realism" using it as an excuse to change things while at the same time still allowing him to ignore realism.
But what really bothers my sense of common sense is how the heck a Mountain Dew machine or anything else could have become a robot because of "energy" passing through it. So, did all the computer parts and limbs materialize out of thin air?
I admit I was highly confused by the fact that all the transformers that the All-Spark suddenly created in the film were automatically mindless hostile creatures that attacked for no reason...what the hell kind of sense does that make, when it supposedly created the Autobots?
Of course, I do realize Beast Machines was written by people who had almost no knowledge of Transformers, so it doesn't count. :P
As for the All-Spark, it had to do with granting life in both Beast-Wars and in this movie, didn't it? So it's not a TOTAL destruction of the concept, just a bastardization. :P
I only recently got into the Transformers, and that was because I was getting hyped up for the film, so I am not as disappointed as long time fans. But the concept has really gotten under my skin recently, so much that I bought an Optimus Prime voice changer helmet, watched every single last episode of Beast Machines (which I've heard wasn't liked much by Transformers fans) because it was the show I most easily found episodes for, and I plan to start wathcing the original Transformers very soon.
While I agree that size change should probably have been kept out, it was rather inconsistent for him to kick a Transformer out based on that and then put size changes into the movie anyways. I will also admit that Megatron was altered far too much in looks, personality, and function. Megatron is supposed to be a gun, not a "Starscream 2.0".
"Yeah...I can't tell if you are blindy defending the film or praising us. ;) "
Neither. I thought these videos were really funny, but I also thought the film was pretty good. I am not defending it blindly though, I was simply saying I disagreed with the complaint about Optimus's looks. I am perfectly willing to admit the movie had it's faults. For instance, you guys were definitely right about the size change thing. It was completely retarded of Bay.
The fact though, is that the movie kept very true to the original look of Optimus Prime. And the Transformers look more like cars that turn into robots now then they ever did in the cartoon, where often they seemed to sort of morph from one form to another rather then unfolding into it. And while Optimus does have a more humanoid face now, it is only part of the time. Other times that gaurd thing folds over his mouth and he looks just like the Optimus he's always been.
I really haven't seen one valid point in these fanboyish videos. The people in these videos hadn't even SEEN the film, they merely judged it without knowing jack about it. But that's okay, they were meant to be humorous anyways, and they definitely were. :)
I believe G1 (which the original Transformers is often refferred to as) had Vector Sigma, which I'm pretty sure is really just another name for the Allspark.
"What the fuck did the transformers have to do with a sparkcube? Ive NEVER seen or heard of that before."
Then you don't know as much about Transformers as you think you do. The Allspark has been part of Transformers canon for years. I'm not sure if it was introduced in G1, I haven't really watched G1 much (I also know quite little about Transformers), but it was introduced in one of the Transformers cartoons before now.
Ive been collecting since america got the rights from Japan for marketing.. Ive seen both movies on release day. The story was fucked up for this newer remake.
What the fuck did the transformers have to do with a sparkcube? Ive NEVER seen or heard of that before .
HAHAHAHA couldn't agree more, I'm afraid the movie will be a let down and kill my high as some stupid attempt of realism is given to such a stupid concept all together... I wanna over the top colorful robots damn it! or at least after I smoke all that shit I sure as fuck will!
actually I do,anyway,I hate these guys cause they bicth and bicth and bitch and Im so tired of arguing with people who look like these guys, evreyone else that I know is hyped about this movie and it isnt fair that a handful of NERDS! getaway with stuff like this(no offense to you of course,I just dont like these guys cause they are everywhere I go on the net)and gives me more reason to like speilberg and Bay even more.
Noone is "getting away" with anything. Two people chose to express their opinions on youtube through these videos. They are exersizing their rights to "freedom of speech", and doing it in a parodic and funny manner. You've got to give them points for being creative, atleast.
Just like you are entitled to your opinion of the movie, so are they. If you don't like what they are saying, then don't listen.
Im just tired of reading thier crap everytime I go to yahoo movies message boards,I know we all have that right but I must admit the spielberg is kind of funny but still I hate to see someone make fun of one of my favorite filmakers, good point.
hey, err, a couple of times you mention Japan.. although the animated series was influenced by the Microman toyline the G1 show and comics are inherently American... in other words, get your facts right.
I'm pretty sure a couple of really good fans like these guys know that. They are saying things like that to poke fun at how little Steven and Michael know about Transformers.

Did you know Bay owns 2 Ferraris and a 911 Porsche? Did he become a director for the money or because he likes movies?
