  • Rico my man! I love your vids. I have started doing the HIIT and man you feel like you've run a freekin marathon on that last set. It's great too for fighters because it conditions your body to sudden, intense situations being thrust upon you.

  • HEY Rico my budy works out on an empty stomach and he is jacked shouldnt u go catabolic if ur on an empty stomach or does the body use fat as the main energy source wich prevents you from going catabolic on an empty stomach ?

  • hey dude obviously you know your stuff but, an individual should not just "automatically" jump on a treadmill and do interval training. One should gradually get to interval training by running on the treadmill for 15 mins before a workout with the last 5 or so minutes running at a decent speed.

    This technique helped me lose 40 pounds in a month (with the right diet too of course) so maybe this will help people not dive head first into something crazy like max interval training.

  • I agree with the interval training thing, but you said 'running for 45 minutes is more likely to be less beneficial than anything', or something like that. Jogging isn't not beneficial, it is beneficial. Humans have been made to be long jogging, stamina intensive hunters, like wolves. That's why we have made dogs as diverse as they are. Saying jogging for 45minutes isn't beneficial is bullshit, you shouldn't say things like that.

  • @FakePlasticShrimp You've got it backwards. Our caveman ancestors didn't make themselves repeat the same movement ten thousand times – day after day! Cavemen followed natural cycles of work and rest : periods of exertion and recovery. They didn't run for hours on end. Man wasn't made to run for long periods of time. Your kind of "logic" causes "shrinkage:" Smaller muscles, smaller heart and smaller lungs. What's worse, it wipes out your heart's and lung's reserve capacity

  • god someone who knows what they're talking about lol. i swear when i see some of these "how to lose weight" videos on utube it's so wrong... I mean there may be 1 or 2 things they say that are true but the main message they seem to say is machines and gadgets work or if u work out for 4 times a week or whatever it is will make u lose weight. People don't understand that eating 5 meals a day lean muscle and nutrition in combination of the training will make u lose or bulk up depending on ur food.

  • I have a question about HIIT that you mentioned in a couple of your videos. I get the idea and how you do it, but is there a way to do it without using running i.e. a lower impact machine? Maybe an eliptical? Just asking because I have a bum knee.

  • HIIT is anaerobic which is your burning sugar for energy. Jogging is ALOT better for fat because its aerobic which your using fats as a energy source. PLEASE stop giving people advise because your doing it all with steroids. Stop taking the easy way out. If you didnt do steroids you wouldn't have ANY muscle

  • @totalhealth4life I just know the SCIENCE behind actual fitness and weight loss. You cant give out advise when your on fucking drugs buddy. Its WRONG. HIIT cardio is VERY good for people that dont need to lose weight. You can only do hiit cardio for about 1 minute and it elevates your heart to the maximum which is good but since your only doing it for short periods of time your not burning all that much calories. Long jogging is alot longer burning alot more calories then HIIT.

  • @fcuk90001 I don't have much to say regarding anything but HIIT. The articles I've read indicate that HIIT elevates resting metabolism temporarily, thus burning more calories over time. It is effective for weight loss. Source: google scholar, search "high intensity interval training metabolism HIIT"

  • @totalhealth4life Come on man just use your common sense. Do you also think those belts you put around your waste that vibrate to help in loosing weight? To lose weight you need to be doing exercises that burns enough calories causing weight loss. Doing a few push-ups on a vibrating machine is not burning calories like jogging would. Also remember the FDA only recommends 58 grams of protein even for bodybuilders and we get 2-3 times that in a normal diet. Eating tons and tons of protein is myth.

  • Hi Rico, i started to see your videos today and i have a little question to you: My goal is keep muscles and burn belly fat

    1º go to the gym 4x a week and the other 3 days HIIT first in the morning. So 7 days of workout, no rest day. That´s ok?

    2º Or go to the gym 4x and choose one day and do HIIT after the lift training and HIIT 2x in the morning and take rest on Sunday?

    3º Or go to the gym 3x and between each session doing HIIT in the morning and Sunday rest

    1º 2º or 3º? help me please

  • Hi Mr Rico, I have started to do interval training to lose some fat. So I sprint and jog in sessions...

    however, after every day of running my legs hurt for about 3 days... especially the part just above the ankles. Sometimes also the thighs...

    Is it because i havent been doing enough leg presses and squats in the gym?

    Should I continue to run even with pain or rest 3/4 days between training sessions?

  • Bicycling or swimming will both work the same way. When he says to sprint instead of walking, he's saying you increase the intensity of your workout whether it be running, bicycling faster or swimming faster.

  • use a stationary cycle,warm-up 5 minutes at easy pace,then go 1 minute at a harder pace and 1minute at an easy pace again, then 1 minute a little bit harder then the first time, and on an on until you've done 5 sets or episodes of 1 minute fast paces and 5-1 minute episodes at an easy pace,you can use a row machine also,it really doesn't matter the equipment you use,its all about exerting energy at a high enough level to cause an elevated heart rate for short intense burst,then short recoverys

  • Rico running method is soo right. I used this method when I was involved with martial arts. Not a tread mill fan. Ran in the grass along the sidewalk. Inconsistancy grassy/dirt ground worked inner-outer calf muscles better and less chances of twisting ankle when not working out. Trains your subconscience mind to make correction instantly.

  • When I'm at the gym, I see people on the treadmill for what seems like HOURS and they are usually fat. I never understood how someone could spend an hour on the treadmill every day and still manage to be fat. Maybe it has to do with the fact that they are not engaged in interval training and they're just jogging at a medium pace, continuously.

  • Not just a protein shake. Have something with the shake. Like oatmeal and or fruits. Try to eat whole foods instead of bars and shakes. Protein shakes are good after weight lifting but eat at least twice as much carbs with your shake. You won´t put on fat from the carbs that you eat before and after weightlifting.

Ive been around the bodybuilding block as much as a 25 year old can. No matter what I do, i can't get bowling ball delts, my anterior delts lag so much! ah! whats your favorite exercises for shoulder days? You seem to know exactly what youre doing so i thought id ask ;-) PS- i am dieting correctly and making sure im eating clean and ALOT.

  • Overweight people should stay away from all grains and dairy...eat clean, fruit, veggies, beans, nuts, etc. if you dont do cardio start jogging and then after start some medium HIIT and work into the intensity as your fitness allows. My book is your Bible for achieving optimal health!

  • you can do it for about one hour a week. .... 4 14 min sessions or 6 ten min sessions either first thing in the morning or after weight training so you combine them.

  • Nowhere near. Basically a day with 0 nutrients going into your body. If you're going to eat fast food, don't starve yourself for the rest of the day to make up for it. that'll only catabolize your metabolism. Just try to find a way around the fast food man

  • you're doing way too much cardio if you're trying to maintain muscle mass...do high intensity, interval cardio........one min fast, one min walking for 5 to 7 sets

  • Don't know what top end is like on the Lotus. LS1 Trans Am's have great top end, but it'll need to lose a whole lot of weight to keep up with the Lotus 0-60.
