we get 100 $ meter tickets in denmark.. and i just got a 120 $ ticket for riding the train only having stamped 3 out of 5 times on my card, so i asked the guy who checked my ticket, if he could just stamp the rest (like 4$ of cuts) but he wouldn't be so kind. it's kind of overkill when that is 18 % of my monthly salary (i'm a student) so that was like my entire food budget..

I completely agree. In one day I racked up $70 worth of parking tickets on campus because I had no other option but to drive to school. One was for a presentation and another was for a doctors appointment. You'd think they wouldn't ticket you outside of a health clinic, but no. Apparently it's prime hunting grounds for campus police. The first ticket was my fault completely, but the second was a douche move.

I got another parking ticket for not having valid tags because the parking police didn't notice the temp registration taped in my window (I didn't have to pay it, but it was a hassle).
I got another moving violation for invalid tags (again temp registration) in which I had to go to court to avoid a penalty and point.

A lot of the mayors & city councilmen/women major cities are pretty corrupt. They talk out of both sides of their mouth when it comes to the issue of trying to encourage honest taxpaying citizens to live in their city, only to fleece them at every turn.

But yeah, I've caught them before, they troll the parking spots and look for meters that are about 5-10 minutes away from expiring, and they camp there. It's a giant dick move. @Ryvensan In Chicago parking meter tickets are 60$. I got a ticket once 2 minutes before my time expired dated 10 minutes before the time it actually was. The city empoyees are encouraged to hand out tickets early it helps them make money. It's bullshit but they're fucking hawks even though parking is 8.50 an hour

LOL Cenk, this is CA, that's how they roll! I once got a ticket while i was still in my car, and the car was running (not considered parking if the car is still running).
I got another parking ticket for not having valid tags because the parking police didn't notice the temp registration taped in my window (I didn't have to pay it, but it was a hassle).
I got another moving violation for invalid tags (again temp registration) in which I had to go to court to avoid a penalty and point.

If I was a parking officer I would be cool about situations like this. All I'd ask is that the person who came out to put the money in their meter just put an extra quarter in the machine to cover the the overtime that they used. You have to be a real power tripping douchebag to ticket someone who is only a minute or two over and just came out to put more money in. I can understand ticketing people who are 10+ minutes over, because it is obvious they don't care.
