  • Sergei is great, but i like I RAFAEL MENDEZ moto perpetuo performed by Rafael Mendez

  • witchcraft. sheer, bloody witchcraft.

  • Does anybody have note sheet? I want this!

  • @FrankieCyprich imslp.org

  • bbutti sangu e quandu respiri???? XD

  • Damn! Only because you people can't do it you say that it's fake??

  • Maybe he have compressor in stomach???!! :D

  • Totally Amazing

  • Wow, does he even ever breathe?

  • You absolutely can double tongue and circular breath at the same time

  • @ironchopsaj Vid?

  • Comment removed

  • @LuolDeng4MVP1 Circular breathing and multiple tonguing*

  • @ironchopsaj... It's just really. Freaking. Difficult.... To do it this well? I wouldn't have thought it possible lol

  • @ironchopsaj I dont think so, at least not for trumpet. But that is not what Sergei did. I have the CD, it says on there they he cut it up and spliced it. If you can, please refer to a video of someone double tonguing and circular breating on the trumpet.

  • Good for him but, the best performance was & stay there Rafael Mendez.

  • Sorry but this player is the best trumpeter ever.

The supples and the simpissety is never including Maurice Andre preformed.

Only Maurice Andre had more passion, and Nakariakov have that not yet

Rafael Mendez is a verry good player but not can compere to Andre and Nakariakov.

  • @mcglaud Not a chance. Defintely very great technically, but best ever is a stretch to anyone you tell. Too many great trumpeters to mention, Andre, Hardenberger, Marsalis, Dokishier, Herseth, HL Clarke. I wish we had good recordings of the olden greats Arban, and HL Clarke, what shame, I'm sure they were beasts and laid the groundwork for the fundamentals of the trumpet.

  • how many lungs does he have?

  • @Strav9

    2

  • Stunning!

  • Intelligence et musicalité supérieures.Le regard en dit long!..

  • @abracadabranque

Tu as raison, quand je serai grande, j'aurai des oreilles comme les tiennes ... ( enfin, j'espère )

    Bisous

  • @abracadabranque "Époustouflant" serait un bon qualificatif!

  • @RoyKa2010 Fin!..

  • questo è un mostro della tromba xd

    peccato che fa solo classica

  • Really incredible technic !

  • Awesome technicality, clean, and great musicality. What more could you ask for. When you can play like this or better you can criticize how he "should" or "could" do it better. Until then don't say anything unless you like it, because I don't know anyone that can play it like this and I doubt you can if you make comments that this is less than good.

  • Wow how do u double and circular breathe at the same time

  • Ignoring all these Immature/pointless comments...

where can i get the Mp3/Album for this piece?

  • Sit is possible to double-tounge while circular breathing. I can do it. I guess only a few people can do it.

  • @rockvaletrumpeteer Its not possible... btw this video was made in takes for the cd only...

  • this song was originally made for violin (or another string equivalent, whichever came first). So Sergei played it exactly how it was written: seperated, and with motion (which is how the song is titled; Moto perpetuo=Perpetual motion). Well done! (I still don't understand how you can circular breath and tongue at the same time though; I can do it with slurs, but with tonguing....)

  • This is....INSANE!! You´ve got to appriciate his musicality, technique and stamina. What a performance!

  • 310 people like this, 8 can't double tongue. at least at the time of writing.

  • it was recorded in one take, circular breathing was used. for those who criticise marsalis' version for not using double tongueing, it would be no more difficult to tongue when you consider the strength of embechoure required for such slurring ability and marsalis' sound is superior to this

  • everyone who has something to criticize on this...does not take the musik for what it is about

  • TO THOSE WHO DOUBT HE DID THIS ONE TAKE. i AM PRETTY SURE HE DID. THIS GUY HAS DEDICATED HIS LIFE TO PRACTICE AND MORE PRACTICE. IMAGINE IF HE PLAYED BASKETBALL. OR FOOTBALL. OR SOCCER. THAT SAME DEDICATION TO PRACTICE WOULD LAND HIM ANYWHERE.

  • @boricuatrumpet69 Imagine if he played trumpet. I'd say he did land somewhere.

  • Sergei has good tecknik but hes tone is kinda horrible for hes age

  • @TrumpetOSoul No one cares what you say, learn to spell, and no he has a beautiful tone. His tone shows even while he is double tounging. I bet you cant even double tongue.

  • @KentPVA then i say sorry cuz i can double tonguing!

  • @KentPVA I've been playing trupmet for 18 years and I still have trouble double tonguing. Whatever. Some will practice it and others don't

  • @boricuatrumpet69 There is a difference between practicing and sucking...

  • I really like this guys dynamic. Very musical and talented. As for doing this in one take? well im pretty sure its impossible to double tongue and circular breath at the same time...

  • I really like this guys dynamics. Very musical. As far as doing this in one take? Im pretty sure its impossible to double tongue and circular breath....

  • Casi parece que está tocando una flauta

  • Winton Marsalis le joue mais liée, là c'est double détaché, extraterrestrissime...

  • Wyntons slurring is harder.....but this is great!!

  • @ainomoadakine i played trumpet some and was wondering, is it harder because of how it jumps octaves so often? Just wondering, its been awhile since i played lol. i was thinking this was harder but maybe slurring makes it harder to catch a breath?

  • Just listened to mendez, then wynton...this version blows me away....what feeling!... listen to the volume changes and attack....I like em all, but`

  • ADEJURIC .. shame shame on you !!! (two octaves too high )a preverse digital fake.shame on you.

  • how can you dislike this?

  • Certe, beaucoup de notes et une belle performance technique , mais peu de musicalité en fait. La musique n'est pas qu'une affaire de rapidité, mais surtout de bon gout.

  • il respire quand

  • il respire quand

  • I cant tell. Is getting up to the concert C6?

  • @TPDR08 I think so

  • wooow!

  • doesn't he need to breathe?

  • @plasticparticle circular breathing.

  • impossible!! unbeleivable!

  • 7 people play the violin.

  • anyone else jaw dropped to the floor?

  • @ultraplatnumman Yeah, I have a whole in my bedroom floor now. I wonder if insurance covers uncontrollable jaw dropping?

  • If this is from the recording he made when he was 17, then he isn't circular breathing as it mentions on the cd cover that his breathing was edited out. Still, awesome to listen to.

  • What just happened....

  • In soviet russia the trumpet blows you.

  • @Lienrak And so do the women.

  • @Lienrak i wish.......

  • impossible sexy beast

  • merci pour cette vidéo - quel souffle - prend il le temps de respirer! bravo l'artiste

  • can anyone explain me how is it possible to circular breath while doing double staccato? =o

  • This version should have been used in the fight scene of Neo versus The Smiths in The Matrix...

  • For those who don't know how this is done:

He is using a technique called circular breathing which allows him to constantly push air through the instrument. The basic concept: blow air through your lips, then when you are running out out of air, you puff up your cheeks with air and push out with your cheeks as you inhale deeply through your nose, after which you can continue to play normally . This technique is extremely advanced in its own right but to be able to do it while performing a piece

  • @redsoxarerockin That's great and all, but you do realize that you sound like a nerd.

  • @redsoxarerockin you cant circualr breath while double tounging... this video is made in cuts...

  • @ironxcaDet lol yes you can, its just freakin hard

  • @redsoxarerockin You really only need to puff up your cheeks on mid to lower notes. But yeah that stuff is hard! I can only do it on long notes. O.o

  • @redsoxarerockin false, this is multiple takes put together... Sergei can't multiple tongue while circular breathing, but your explanation is fantastic!

  • @LuolDeng4MVP1 u dumb

  • Ho ascoltato un extraterrestre

  • @repontino Si ! Il suo vero nome è Iegres Vokairakan.

  • a little close as the original one from Rafael Mendez

  • i agree with you torstein ***** amazing

  • 息継ぎどこいった!!

  • respirou meu filho??

    pulmao de elefante mane

  • The best of the three by far The dynamics are well marked and the accuracy better

  • woua!!!

eh ben, c'est pas un trompetiste c'est un OVNI !!!

  • circular breathing like a mother fucker

  • I asked Mendez if he could tongue and circular breathe. He told me he tried for 2 years but could not. He spliced moto perpetuo. I' ve heard that Wynton performed it slurred. I don't know about Sergei. If he didn't splice it he is only one I'm aware who can tongue while circular breathing. I only wish I could play as well as Mendez, Wynton, and Sergei.

  • damn.

  • he does in a different key then wynton did but he also double tounges it which is flawless in my book:)

  • kill all the violonist players!!!!!!

  • @s74elena not really but thanks for playing.

  • q alguien me diga como hacer respiracion continua con staccato

  • браво!

  • Omg, what the fuck?

    How hard is this song!??

  • @ForbiddianSC To circular breathe and tongue at the same time is next to impossible.

  • @violatione so how is it possible???

    how do you learn it??

  • @yuripole0000 I don't know. You should ask Sergei. He is the only one I know of who can do it.

  • much respect for sergei and rafael =)

  • @Nabokov50 that's not a hiss of a dubbed tape, that's the hiss of the inward breathing through the nose. Not like they had pro-tools back then to edit that out. That's my opinion, at least

  • Pfff

    Amazing!!!

  • I'm not an expert, but is it even possible to do circular breathing while playing staccato notes like that? You'd have to use your tongue for both things at the same time which should be technically impossible.

  • @3DWaiter you dont use your tongue to circular breathe. do you play any wind instruments?

  • I keep saying that circular breathing is an urban myth. Who has seen anyone perform this live? In the Mendez vinyl recording of this tune, we can hear the slight hiss of a dubbed tape.

  • circular breathing isn't a myth... Everybody who can play the didgeridoo whitout stopping and breathing can do circular breathing...

  • @Nabokov50 @Nabokov50 I have never heard someone sound so confident while being so ignorant. You think circular breathing is an urban myth. Do you watch live performances of anybody? Have you really never heard someone circular breath while being in the same room? Wynton does it all the time. And it's crazy that someone thinks that Mendez can't circular breathe.

  • @Nabokov50 Just by listening or watching anything he plays you can see that his technique is absolutely superior. For you to put circular breathing past him is like saything that breathing is impossible for a human being. What a dumb f**k. (Uneccessary comment, but It goes without saying.)

  • @Nabokov50 My band director who is a trumpet player can circular breathe. Not a myth, Just something very few people can efficiently use for the obvious reason that its not an easy task and those who do know how to circular breathe sometimes have trouble keeping a steady in tune pitch. And the comment on Mendez is really just a slap in the nuts.

  • @Nabokov50 You sir, are a dumbass. Circular breathing is not an urban myth, because i have done it. It's not easy nor is it a fundamental technique, but it is definitely not impossible. I say again, you sir, are a dumbass.

  • @Nabokov50 Mmm... I circular breathe... so... I am a myth! yeaaah : )

  • its really perfect! i love this :-)

  • could be possible with circular breathing if you ask me... long live didgeridoo and its mechanisms aplied to other isntruments!

  • Where's your evidence, wolfpak9?

  • not in one take. he pieced together different sections of it. He has quite an audio producer. There's a video of the making of this piece somewhere on youtube. and he never does this live.

  • @wolfpak9 you know there is something like circular breathing, I can do circular breathing so he does it also I think

  • Strewth!!

Has he ever played the piece live?

  • holy shit i nearly shit myself

  • @torstein1492 when you shat yourself, did it come out of you in one loooooong snake, or in tiny spitfire poopy bullet spray? And, did you circular breathe ?

  • Great ///////////////////////////

  • Was that recorded in one take? I wouldn't be surprised.

  • @edcontact yes it was, i know for sure, because he could play that long because hes a circular breather

  • @SUPERasianNINJAsquad - I wasn't impressed with the circular breathing as much as I was with his flawless execution.

  • @edcontact agreed :)

  • bravo!!!!

  • It is a mistake to say that anything is impossible with the talent this young man has. Technical perfection isn't something even the best instrumentalists ever get close to. Mr. Nakariakov has obviously practiced more than you. He can do this, and you can't . Nothing to be the least bit ashamed of.

  • Personaly, this is the only one that doesn't sound like an exercise. Wonderfully musical!

  • Holy. . . Crap

  • he slurs 2 notes in the lower register to circular breath btw ... and yes its possible ...

  • guys.... must see Mendez version!!

  • Can anyone point to a trumpet video of someone even single tonguing and circular breathing? Don't get me wrong, still a wonderful display of technical virtuosity. Not saying it's totally impossible, but would be inspirational to see someone do it.

I guess a video challenge then for a trumpeter, even second line Gs, simple 16th notes, held for extended period, single/double tonguing clearly showing circular breathing without breaking cadence.

  • As 'Nickdrozdoff' correctly suggests;

I too would like to see how this performance was done...preferably in public...(and never mind a few mistakes here and there, which such a piece would demand.)

If not, then I can only deduce that such a perfomance is a complete fraud.

But I must say quite convincingly done.

  • Drozdoff mentioned in one of his videos he was working on Moto Perpetuo, not sure which version Mendez/Marsalis, but either would be VERY impressive if pulled off circular breathing. Though people try to knock Marsalis version, has anyone posted a live one take video of it on trumpet circular breathing, I know there is a clarinetist who does a superb job, but they have wooden reeds, not a double flesh one!!!:)

  • @slee331 No one should EVER knock Marsalis's version just because he slurs. From a musical standpoint, I much more enjoy his. Although, I love hearing players double tongue it. When they tongue it, it is more close to the original for violin.

  • Circular breathing with tonguing?:O

  • snot globs come out my nose whenever I try to circular breath.

  • i wouldn't tell everyone that lol

  • Don't like this one as much as the Wynton Marsalis version

  • Circular breathing doesn't work while tonguing. Try it. Mendez played this piece double tongued, but it had three splices - still an amazing accomplishment. Wynton does this LIVE with circular breathing, but he slurs it. I've head this done on flute, tongued (Gallway, I believe). I'd have to SEE this performance to sort out how he does this. I'd have to watch Gallway, too. Nevertheless, this is a beautiful performance.

  • Three splices aren't enough to do this without circular breathing. If I misread you I apologize.

  • For Rafael Mendez, three are enough.

  • No man, check out some of his videos... you can actually see him do it... circular breathing AND double tonguing simultaneously. It's absolutely wild, but he can do it! Unless he's doing a really fast single tongue. Single tonguing isn't terribly hard while circular breathing, but that tempo is!!! :-)

  • и риддика

  • он круче тетраграмматон клерика 4 уровня

  • Maybe the best.

  • it look like ears breathing!!!

  • It's called circular breathing

  • i can't see anyone on Youtube doing a cover of this..... =]

  • WTF!!!!!! god he's a beast

  • So there's circular breathing and cyclic breathing... I can cyclic breathe but I can't tongue while I'm inhaling through my nose. Is it possible to do that without learning to *actually* circular breathe instead of do cycles? because it seems impossible for him to NOT be inhaling while tonguing.

  • I dont hear him breathe.... how the f*(k he did that?

  • Circular Breathing.

  • This is unhuman playing!

  • Sounds like if it was his warm-up! Respect!!!!! 5*

  • Unglaublich. Bin selbst Trompeter, aber so etwas hab ich noch nicht gehört.

  • OMG ....JUS FAB!!! GREat!!!!

  • WOW. He just keeps on playing...

    Gotta learn circular breathing...

  • take a glass of water and a straw - thats the way i learned :)

  • I'll try that, thanks for the tip :)

  • you don't need anything to practice it though....
