okay what about benficial mutations. A whole part of what evolution says is that more complex organisms have formed through beneficial mutation. Not one beneficial muation has been seen or recorded. The white mutation occurs all of the time and can be tested and DNA proven. Beneficial vs. Harmful is judged by the environment. A white coat is a harmful mutation in most environments, but is beneficial near the poles. The polar bear's white coat is a beneficial mutation.

Put down your scorecard and read up on what a scientific theory actually is. Science gathers up the facts: fossils, geographic distribution of species, genetic information, order of species in the rock strata (always found with more primitve animals the older the rock layer), and then develops a theory that best explains the facts. As soon as data is gathered that contradicts the theory, it gets discarded. It's still king of the hill after 150 years. If you have proof to unseat it, bring it.

I came across a debate between a Dr. Hovind and a Dr. Paulson. Hovind made a strong case if you filter out the christian dogma and rhetoric. The logic was sound and didn't get speculative. I was curious about this video & decided to check it out. I'm saddened by the vitriol as there is an equal amount of nonsense within each school of thought. People just can't seem get past the reality that "evolution" is a theory and "creationism" is in part someone's take on the Bible.

We know this because some people are actually born with atavistic tails. They can be up to a foot long and typically come complete with muscles, blood vessels and nerves. erik2u, you do not understand evolution. It is a branching pattern, we are NOT descendants of monkey's. We share a common ancestor with monkey's. This is important, evolution does not make a father-son pattern where one comes from the other, but a cousin-cousin pattern, where species share a common ancestor. Just like you share a common ancestor (your grandmother+grandfather) with your own cousins.

it could b a lot of things, maybe 1 of our female ape-like ancestors was more attracted to the visible muscle definition of a somewhat hairless body so that hairless ancestor reproduced and that became the dominant phenotype for our species. another way is to think like this; hair, like feathers and scales, is very taxing to our bodies to produce, so maybe during the developmental stage, one of our ancestors took that energy used to cover our body with hair, and put it towards a bigger brain.

because we have clothes that we use instead for warmth. if we no longer need something, it will begin to dissapear in order to make it easier to stay alive. i.e. if you dont need hair to stay warm, why waste energy growing it? the same thing has happened with the appendix, our food is digested easier now than thousands of years ago so it becomes smaller and smaller.

Just because something is a mammal does not change the fact that they still produce after their kind, a dog will always produce a dog, a mountain lion will never produce a dog, you cannot breed a mountain lion and a dog while they're both mammals they are genetically different kinds of animals so the "common ancestor" argument falls apart because if they were the same kind of animal they could mate for viable offspring (example a cat can only be mated with a cat)

Eventually dogs may give rise to non-dogs. Perhaps after tens of thousands of years. It's hard to imagine that poodles and great danes will not become nonmutually reproducing and genetically different to be separate species, for example. It's fairly easy to see species variation in fossil lineages. The horse branch and even the human one are rather clear. Human's are more closely genetically related to chimps than chimps are to orangutans. Blows the mind.

I got as far as high school Biology yet even I can see that this is not how evolution works. If left in isolation, dogs may eventually mutate over many generations into something that we today wouldn't recognize as a dog.
The Miacis over millions of years evolved into the Fox, Hyenena and Wolf and other canines with the domestic Dog subspecies arriving between 15,000 - 35,000 years ago.

okay what about benficial mutations. A whole part of what evolution says is that more complex organisms have formed through beneficial mutation. Not one beneficial muation has been seen or recorded. Evolution also contradicts the 2nd law of thermodynamics. Evolution has many, many flaws, frankly is ridiculous for the most part.
Evolutionists judge the age of the bones by the geologic column and the age of the column by the bones. Thats called circular reasoning.

Thousands of mutations have been observed. They are as simple as a mutation causing the coat of an animal to be white instead of grey or brown, and that white coat helps the animal hide in the snow. The white mutation occurs all of the time and can be tested and DNA proven. Beneficial vs. Harmful is judged by the environment. A white coat is a harmful mutation in most environments, but is beneficial near the poles. The polar bear's white coat is a beneficial mutation.

Bless God for men like Kent Hovind speaking the truth to the spiritually blind. I will pray for Kent Hovinds ministry and that more people come to know Jesus Christ through the creation of this world. It saddens me how people choose to feel that they were an accident through evolution, don't accept that, you are not an accident, God has a devine purpose for every single one of your lives!

What about for certain areas of Africa where every single day 1 in 3 children are born with AIDS and live for a small number of years in constant pain? Where is the divine purpose in that?

Evolution is a historical, forensic science. It is evidence based, and more evidence trickles in on a daily basis.
It is further strengthened by independent lines of evidence from various scientific disciplines.
Unfortunately for the ardent theist (like Hovind and his ilk), this directly contradicts the first chapter of the Bible.
Those who reject evolution also often do so because they don't understand it in any depth. One should understand a concept before rejecting it.

Only reason why this debate goes on so long is because its the age old question god or no god.. evolution theory is all they have to support it and there gonna stick with it till they die... once evolution can be proven without a shadow of a doubt then we may dismiss god..but they havnt yet its just theories..this not science its a belief... please stop confusing evolution with adaptaion ... god 1 evolution 0

Put down your scorecard and read up on what a scientific theory actually is. Science gathers up the facts: fossils, geographic distribution of species, genetic information, order of species in the rock strata (always found with more primitve animals the older the rock layer), and then develops a theory that best explains the facts. As soon as data is gathered that contradicts the theory, it gets discarded. It's still king of the hill after 150 years. If you have proof to unseat it, bring it.

what if i could get god to come down and show the world who god is ...what would that mean for all the "evidence" you thought proved evolution .. it would be discarded would it not? and if it can easily be discarded like this then doesn it sound more like a belief then a science?

Wrong. Please, convince God to come down and show himself. If he showed up over New York harbour and waved to the cameras, I'd happily believe. He showed himself regularly in the Bible, but, strange, he seems to have gotten out of the habit now.
It's not "easily" discarded. It's discarded when and if better information is uncovered, or as in evolution's case, the new info supports the existing theory. Happens all the time. When you have all the facts, that produces accuracy.

heh and if you can make me a half man half lion half gorilla i will happily belive... or actually make me life outta nothing but gas and a spark :) i'd also belive or perhaps you can explain how biomechanical organisms can operate without having all its parts ... even if one part is missing it will fail to work will it not? how can evolution slowly put that together if it needs all the parts to work! evolution just doesnt hold water.. and yea i'll try nd get that msg to god :p
