NBA.com is reporting that the city of Seattle is working to bring back an NBA team. The Sacremento Kings have until March 1 to come up with a plan for a new arena.
Like this up if you would trade all of the Carmelo's, Lebron's, and Dwight's in the world for the second coming of Shawn Kemp in his prime and TAKE THE SONICS OUT OF JOKELAHOMA CITY!!!
I was at this game,AWESOME time.At the end of the 3rd quarter Army Rangers repelled from the ceiling(With M16's)and formed a defensive line around the Sonics huddle. We counted the whole game every time Malone went to the line until the last two he had in the final seconds. Then we just screamed, total bedlam, and he bricked em both:-)What great memories.Nuck the FBA,I wont watch anymore since they stole my team.People around the league were pissed about the"Lets get ready to rumble"thing.
I'm from Canada, but I miss my Sonics so much, the NBA hasn't been the same since they left, I continue to purchase my Sonics gear whenever I can find it....and I haven't become a fan of the Thunder either just couldn't do it no disrespect to that team, but I can't do it, I faithfully watch the Bucks now, but one day hope to watch the Sonics again.
we may not have won the finals in this series but believe me when I say that WHEN we do get our stadium built, we WILL our 2nd championship... the sweetest championship, especially after being so close to it those times... and G.P and reign man can finally retire their jerseys... I know we will as be emotional WHEN that day comes :)
CLAY BENNETT now makes me undastand why BENEDICT ARNOLD stung so much...watt a cocksucker!!..look at KEY ARENA!!..sure it wasnt the best, but look how we used to rock that joint out!!
@djturn530 hell yeah!!! they should'ive stayed in seattle were they belong. nobody in oklahoma don't even know what nba basketball is. bunch of oklahomos.
The Sonics need to come back to Seattle.......the city of Seattle just needs to break down, give them a new arena and bring them back...I really feel they were cowards for leaving Seattle
Paul Allen could just take the Portland Trailblazers to Seattle anyday he wanted to since he's from there anyways but id just rather have the sonics back
I will never forget this game it was on a sunday, the best sign I have ever seen anyone hold up was held by a little girl it said: "There's no mail on sunday"
the nba is bullshit 2 let the seattle supersonics leave and become the oklahoma city thunder...david stern is a bitch for letting that happen...that is why I don't pay attention to any of todays nba...u got refs betting & fixing games...& it's just not exciting no more...nba died when the bulls dispanded!!!
I really do miss the Sonics. With all the momories of the 90's with Gary Payton, Detlef Schrempf, Shawn Kemp, Hersey Hawkins and George Karl. With all the excitement of Kevin Calabro. It has been a very tough year to swallow...Soooooo many memories...I would remember catching the bus and meeting my dad at his work and going to the game..so much fun! RIP Sonics! Hopefully someday real soon there will be another Sonic team again!
Straight up i was born and raised in Phoenix.....When Barkley came...every road team would cheer us because we were so good...but not Seattle....this town town deserves a real owner and basketball team...this clip is sooo awesome...
@ThaShark316 I'm a Seattle born and raised. I'm Japanese-American so I HATE the Boston Celtics and Utah Jazz! But, you have two things that we don't (or have only one of): Two NBA titles. I rooted for Houston in1993-94 and 1994-95 after the Sonics were out of the playoffs. I loved Hakeem, Otis Thorpe, and Clyde Drexler (I love the Blazers too).
You are sure lucky they got upset in 1994 1995 otherwise rockets would have no rings, i wanted to see suns and sonics play again those years man that was an epic 1993 wcf!!
Man, I was like eight when this was going on and I had this weird moment where I finished Hersey Hawkins' name halfway through Kevin Calabro's intro, despite not having heard or spoken that name in probably around a decade. The Sonics were such a huge deal for me and everyone I knew back then (I still remember the eruption of cheers when we realized the Sonics were going to the finals) and it only re-enforces how damn weird it is that we don't have a team anymore. But that's life, I guess.
I love the Seahawks and the Ms but the SEATTLE SUPERSONICS was so much a part of Seattle. In the 90s when the Sonics were a power house Seattle lived and breathed the Sonics.
love that intro. but from being from chicago and not knowing what its like to have a team move what do u do? r people from seattle thunder fans? are you always a sonic fan? like what do you cheer for now? i want answers
Well this is just one humble SONIC fans opinion that's lived in Seattle all his life. That is not my team (the Thunder). The Seattle Sonics were my team. Until the NBA returns to Seattle, I have no team. End of story.
Yeah. The Supes were our team, me and my buddies would take the bus to Seattle before I got my license to see them. Man that was fun. My parents were at this game, and my grandma used to have a suite in 96'. I hate the Thunder. The only team I hope does good is Portland. With Branden Roy, and Nate Mcmillian, both have ties to Seattle.
as a sonic fan, what used to be the sonics, I DO NOT root for the thunder. Pretty much everyone in Seattle root for them to lose. I want to see Clay Bennett lose money. I still have an interest in Kevin Durant, I want him to go to a different team ASAP, get the heck out of Oklahoma and star with someone else. Most people here are forgetting about the NBA to be honest.
@briansvoice was a combination of 2 songs, one being Run Like Hell by Pink Floyd, the other one, I can't actually remember, but will let you know when I do find out the name.
Would love each of the musical bits for this...from the bit with the bolt of lightning, to the players intro, even the bit at the end...come on someone! :)
The "bass song" is Deep Purple's Knocking At Your Back Door from their album Perfect Strangers then it segues into Pink Floyd's Run Like Hell from The Wall. You are welcome!
First Vancouver to Memphis, Then Charlotte to New Orleans and for two seasons OKC (though they got a team back), now Seattle to OKC. I guess the consensus in the NBA and NHL (except of Columbus and Minnesota) is that all the expanison teams and lackluster teams are going south. There really seems to be no respect for the west anymore as the south is now becoming the place.
It is really bad what went on here, really feel for all you die hard Sonics fans. There were some incredible memories especially from the GP era, just because that team never won a championship doesn't mean it was failure from ellis to hawkins Kemp to Baker those teams were fantastic along with the fans
* Where: U.S. District Courthouse - 700 Stewart St., Seattle, WA 98101
Future NBA Hall of Famer and Seattle SuperSonics legend Gary Payton will joinSave Our Sonics at a June 16 rally to keep his 13-year NBA team in its 41-year home of Seattle. Payton will speak to the crowd gathered on the lawn outside Seattles U.S. District Courthouse (700 Stewart St) as the City of Seattle fights to keep its oldest professional sports franchise.
Going on vacation to Seattle to see my relatives every summer, I call it my second home and I live in Iowa. Seattle is the most breathtaking city i've ever been to. I've been to alot of major cities also, and worked in OKC most of last summer which is a fucking dump. Losing the Sonics will break my heart. I'll never forget that intro with Pink Ployd-Run Like Hell. And yes, other than Utah, no fans are louder than Sonics fans. End of Story......
Clay never wanted to keep the team in Seattle. The damning emails were uncovered by the Seattle Times yesterday. Chalk one up for the city of Seattle. They're staying in Seattle for at least 2 more years.
I'm a die-hard Laker fan, but I say the Sonics should stay where the belong and had belonged since 67. Besides, I want the Lakers to beat the SEATTLE Suuuuuuupersonics, not the OKC or Vegas Sonics!
I've been to Seattle, and KeyArena (fka the Seattle Center Coliseum) is very small....King County should build a new venue, just like they did with the M's and Hawks.
1.800.562.6000. There is a proposal in front of the St. legislature that includes $150 million of private money and the same from public funds to refurbish The Key. It is esential that we get this heard in front of the legislature before next Friday. If this is not done now an opportunity will be lost. When gifts like this come about, it is prudent to act. Please call the legislative hotline and let them know that this needs to happen NOW! I encourage everyone out here there to call.
The Sonics are not Gone! They will end up staying. The Mayor today revelead a new arena plan for Key Arena, and Steve Balmer among others are going to contribute 50% to arena plan. How much would Benent contribute? Nothing. Bennet will lose the lawsuit and will sell the team to Seattle.
SAVE OUR SONICS!... I was at this game and it was AWESOME!!! I know that many of you get your information on a national level. Please don't beleive the politicing that Stern is throwing out; we in Seattle LOVE the SUUUUUUUUPerSonics!!!... And by the way, how sweet is Pink Floyd on the Intro...C'Mon!
That was such a great series, and really set the pace for my entire '96 summer. I was living in Spokane at the time, and there wasn't a person in town that wasn't watching the game. Seattle sports are unique in that they represent the entire northwest. The Sonics are being stolen from millions of fans across the entire corner of our country. Save our Sonics!
I don't watch the NBA anymore and don't even play Basketball anymore, but those were some great times! My fav team was the Utah Jazz.. player = John Stockton, and the 96, 97, and Jordans last season 98, were simply incredible. Especially when I think of the playoffs, and these western conference finals going down to the wire.. Payton vs Stockton, Kemp vs Malone. The NBA will never recreate this magic!! Unless they finally make a global basketball league. we'll see....
if the sonics left it would really be bullshit, they aren't like the vancouver grizzlies or something I mean so much history for the seattle franchise
IF ONLY KEMP AND PAYTON COULD HAVE GOT PAST THE FIRST ROUND WHEN JORDAN WAS OUT FOR 2 YEARS THEY WOULD HAVE BEAT THE ROCKETS I MEAN THEY BEAT THEM IN 1993 as well as 1996 when they got the chance! DAMN THOSE KINGS AND LAKERS
I can do without the French, this is a really good video. I loved the PA announcer. Sonics fans have one thing to hang their hat on, they sure as hell know how to make a place loud!
good god. I was at this game, I was in third grade! Memories. Who ever made this video needs to put on when shawn kemp dunked the ball and then sat on Rodman's shoulders.
i take it you never were a Sonics fan??? I loved it, and I never have even been to a Sonics game... they used to have one of the best floors in the league when they were in the old Seattle Centre Coliseum... They should have kept the floor.
your seattle s-uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu-per sonics!

I've been to Seattle, and KeyArena (fka the Seattle Center Coliseum) is very small....King County should build a new venue, just like they did with the M's and Hawks.
SAVE THE SUPS! I'M WITH YOU!

Save our Sonics!

now did they really need to bring in Michael Buffer?

I don't watch the NBA anymore and don't even play Basketball anymore, but those were some great times! My fav team was the Utah Jazz.. player = John Stockton, and the 96, 97, and Jordans last season 98, were simply incredible. Especially when I think of the playoffs, and these western conference finals going down to the wire.. Payton vs Stockton, Kemp vs Malone. The NBA will never recreate this magic!! Unless they finally make a global basketball league. we'll see....

Sonics should stay in Seatlle more than there wnba team.

You're really going to take the Sonics away from that great city. LMFAO! Wow I guess you can be retarded and run a professional sports league.
If this happens, I'm saying bye bye to the NBA FOREVER!
Have fun in cow in little-tiny OKC.

This intro is so much better than our current one. We need to be loud like we were back then. Man the 90's were the NBAs golden years. I miss it.

Sonics fans have one thing to hang their hat on, they sure as hell know how to make a place loud!
tigernike23 4 years ago
good god. I was at this game, I was in third grade! Memories. Who ever made this video needs to put on when shawn kemp dunked the ball and then sat on Rodman's shoulders.
pankow93 4 years ago
If you were at this game you would have known that Kemp dunked on Rodman in the NBA Finals, not the Western Conference Finals

TRJ22487 4 years ago

mstrkg2u 4 years ago

TRJ22487 4 years ago
I hated the Sonics announcer when he said "Suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper Sonics"
dipship31 4 years ago
Are you fing kidding? I LOVED when he said that!
Pink Floyd+Deep Purple for an intro=BADASS.
HuskerFanatic 4 years ago
i take it you never were a Sonics fan??? I loved it, and I never have even been to a Sonics game... they used to have one of the best floors in the league when they were in the old Seattle Centre Coliseum... They should have kept the floor.
nightcat3549 2 years ago 2
After watching this, I wanna get a plane ticket to Seattle and hold that Okie Clay Bennett hostage! And I'm a Rockets fan!
SAVE THE SEATTLE SUPERSONICS!
