Hello, Ravanous. I just got a keyboard/piano as an early christmas present and I have always wanted to play. This video was the first tutorial I have ever looked at and tried to learn from. I have never really played for more than 5 minutes at a time in the past, and I know you are very thorough and all. My question is, I can play the first 4 minutes of this no problem, is that pretty good for a beginner?

@lyndongardner Yes. Starting above your skill level is a good way of getting good fast, but it comes at a price. Later you'll have trouble with dynamics and timing that only starting small and building your skills up with a strong foundation brings.

Great tutorial. I'm not at all good at playing piano but I've managed to play up 2:27 fine but when it comes to pressing the three notes together my board makes awful sounds.

...I should have asked this like, 2 years ago...whats the diff. between left, middle, and right pedals? What, for the left, it "echos" for the left, and same for right--and middle, basically the whole thing? idk...I had a piano (back in Chatham, ON, but we had to leave it behind...) and the left one was broken, literally, the actual pedal was broken, so I nly used the right one, and it echoefd for the whole piano...n e way, thanks!

Now you mentioned to Eliza0445 how its required to pedal Aerith teme if you want to play it buetifully. Does it need to be pedalled for the wholesong? Cause I think that might be what my problem is. Also, Middle pedal, or left or right pedal?

It's a Rolad fp80 I think. The fp80 part might be slightly wrong. It's at my band's rehersal space right now, so I can't check. I got it at a local music store

I really appreciate you putting videos like this up here, Theres too many retarded videos for more/less complicated (if you consider this one complicated) songs. I enjoy watching your tutorials, I feel like i learn something more than just a song, im completely self-taught, i know scales and such, and i know how to read music from a different instruments perspective (saxophone) but i learn major and minor chords just by watching tutorials on songs that i like : D

Got my first keyboard when I was 14... so 6 years. I'd probably be better at playing if I just focused on that, but I'm a composer more primarily. Nah, you don't have long to go. Your will to become better will let you learn quickly. It's all up to you.

Who would ever make two Aerith's theme tutorials? I don't know the 'proper' version... but I mean, listen to it. There's only a few chordal differences, and only a couple of motive-positional differences. You can figure out the original through use of this one.
