I don't see a purpose in some of the martial arts they are performing. I don't know what it is they are trying to do, but some of the moves shown are just too exasperated and would not be possible with a combat load on one's back. It would appear that some of those moves depend on the enemy combatants unchanging cooperation.

They also run too far out in the open on some of the shooting drills.

Of course, I don't know EXACTLY what's going on, so my opinions are all second-hand.

@kord127 Not technically true there buddy, might seriously want to check your facts on that. The taliban didn't occupy Afghanistan until after the Russian invasion was repelled, they came from Pakistan and filled the power vaccum left by the occupation. It was the Muhajadin who were supplied with weapons by Western intelligence agencies.

Its nice to have your facts correct before making sweeping statements.

VDV are badass though, fucking major respect to those guys.

after Chechnya knowledge of close combat is a must. fighting in the mountains, you don't know when some crazy Muslim fanatic can jump on you with a knife from some cave. you will be panicking, and start shooting you can shot ur own men by an accident.
