  • this shifu yan lei physically looks so much different than a "normal" shaolin monk, he's bulky and all, very interesting :)

  • @waldomarek hes the best most strongest monk ever in all of the shaolin temple. Nothing but respect to him

  • @waldomarek Having trained in the Shaolin Temple UK under Shifu Yan Lei I feel somewhat qualified to respond to your comment. Shifu Yan Lei has trained for many years and is highly proficient in Shaolin Steel Jacket technique. As a european for whom the norm seems to be that the occasional gym visit is considered sufficient to keep fit, I would invite you to imagine the level of bulk which might be accumulated over a period of time training in various forms fo Shaolin Gong Fu and Qi Gong.

  • @LairdMckinnick actually i've trained shaolin kung fu as well for a couple of years, but of course, it's only considered "part-time" when compared to people as shifu yan lei. but from watching other shaolin monks' physics, you usually see them as skinny but yet very strong men.

  • @waldomarek Totally. I think that most Shaolin monks don't really aim to develop so much bulk as it is not necassary in order to be really strong. Bruce Lee is a good example of someone with less bulk. Shifu Yan Lei is also naturally quite stocky. By the way I wasn't referring to you with my somewhat loosely phrased comment about the average European. Respect to you and good luck with the training!

  • How about hitting him with the end of the stick? That's where most of the centrifugal force would be and giving less chance of the stick shattering.

  • @Bassai how about I hit you like that with the stick hero...Itl shatter all your bones buddy

  • @calais054 If you hit me with the end of the stick that's close to the grip, the other end will splinter / shatter, as it did above. If you hit me with the end of the stick that's opposite of the grip, then I'll get hurt. That's how centrifugal force works on the tip of the stick. Of course, you have to build your mid-section to be able to break it, but you don't have to be a Shaolin monk to do it. The same trick is done in Karate, Muay Thai, even fake professional wrestling.

  • @Bassai Yes, lot of people can do it, but I'm quite certain those people can't break so many sticks in a row and get out of it with just slightly red skin. He's also doing it on the ribs and on the back and the stick is very thick, I really didn't see something similar from wrestlers or karate practitioners. Anyway, it's just a demonstration.. I would like to see him on high speed camera compared to guy who did it in time warp.

  • @piposak Hi. Demonstrations such as these could lead to many misconceptions. For example, a novice might mistakenly believe that mastery of such a feat means one would be indestructible in a fight. The process involves core strengthening, combined with repeated blows to the target area. One continues training until successive board/planks/sticks/poles are broken.

  • @piposak Here's is a video that depicts the same practice in Okinawan Karate: type in (or copy and paste "Naihanchi shodan - Kitae & Tameshiwari" into the search prompt. These students are wearing gi's, but the practice itself also demands you to perform without any protective clothing whatsoever.

  • @Bassai Oh.. I'm sorry but when you said wrestlers and karate in the same sentence, I thought of young white boys fighting without even touching themselves. Yes.. I'm sorry, sure there are more people practicing different martial arts that can do similar feats like this.. I just wanted to say that lot of people can do this, for example there was a guy on television stating that he does use chi to break the stick but after one blow he had his stomach painted with all colors from yellow to violet.

  • @piposak And I doubt that he would want to be hit again in the same spot.. In comparsion to shifu Yan Lei in this video, he's not hurt at all because he really knows how to use chi.. And that was my point.. There are lot of people who can break sticks but only few of them remain healthy after they do, and I believe that he is one of them and he deserves more respect. I think that he could be hit with the end of the stick, maybe it wouldn't break but I believe that he would do OK. I'd like to see

  • shifu is a badman

  • Awesome!

  • muscle, myofascial tissue, and chi are way more connected than we might think. First and foremost, we have to train the muscle before we can start doing anything real with chi. There is no way around it. Why did old school taiji teachers have students stand extremely low horse stance for 5 hours? To build chi, but is even more fundamental and beneficial straight from the beginning for building physical and muscular health. One and the same.

  • the weakest point of the wood in motion is it center, hence why they hit him with the middle.. not to say chi dont exist.. i just ned better demo..

  • r u stupid cuss in the middle were all ur qi comes from wen u was born till right now wen u breath it ends up in ur stomach thts y alot people train their stomach more cuss if u get 1 hit in the centre u just fell down or probebly die check hes other video he breaks it sideways and back not only centre stupid

  • thank you for calling me stupid,, i guess i am in your way of thinking.. read my comment,, i was referring to the physics relating to the event of wood breaking, you know,, mass distribution, centre of mass, leverage, torque and impulse and so on.... just very basic physics relating to motion.. oh did you know that you can die from getting hit anywhere in on body? all depends on the magnitude of the force, the direction the force is orientated.. learn to walk before run,, physic before chi>

  • exaclty u need to train ujr body 1 hit in ur body badly u can die eather in ur neck belly face chest anywere am just sayn qigong does exists trust me if u hit 1 punch wiv person who dont train no mattwe hw big he is him he might have serous damage

  • damn all them in 1? he must have alot of qi in hes stomach thts impressive

  • bad boy, stop stolen.

  • speechless..
