  • how much did your ruger p95 cost ?

  • For a reliable, accurate pistol for under 350, there's not much to criticize. Anything below a p95 and your looking at hi-points and makarovs. Taurus is priced to compete against the p95, but Ruger is better made.

  • I would like to see a review of the p345 which is similar. Thanks

  • I mean flying off the shelves.

  • A local gun shop down the road have them on sale brand new for $275. That's a steal. The gun shop clerk told me they have been flying of the shelves. I'm gonna get one once I get my tax return. It will be my first pistol.

  • I use 147 gr fmj ammo

  • anybody have any suggestions on the best type of ammo for this gun? read on some forums that some ammo didnt agree with the p95... is there a certain type of ammo that i should get?

  • @ymp5000 really? I'm gonna have to check that out now. Thank you.

  • Nutnfancy, Ruger won a contract to supply 5,000 P95s to the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command in Illinois back in 2004. I believe they were also selected as the sidearm for the Iraqi police.

  • @nutnfancy Do you think this is a good gun for beginners?

  • @cybertek3188 YES YES YES YES AND YES! It’s a great gun for a beginner. Rugged and tough, reliable as any auto out there. Very affordable and easy takedown for cleaning. I love mine and you will love it too.

  • I don't believe the P95 is a notch below a Glock as far as accuracy goes. I shoot better with this gun and other double/single action guns than with my G17. I guess it's just a matter of personal preference.

  • Hey Nutnfancy, i hope yo can do a review of the Bersa Thunder 9 / 40 Pro pistols.

  • if you did not use an IWB holster, then i will say i was very pleased with the P95. Great pistol, solidly built, and i put several 1000 rounds through it. Never had a malfunction, or a failure to feed. Love Ruger stuff....

  • Hey Nuntn great review on the Ruger, I ended up selling my Ruger due to the fact that in a conceal and carry format, i had several instances during my drawing the firearm the magazine release ejected the mag. Although it is a push mag release, you can, at an angle activate the mag release at an angle, thus ejecting the mag from the gun. Food for thought.

  • @musicmanluke1969

I was wondering about that exact thing.

  • Lol I helped a friend get a gun I never knew about these but he was looking for a cheap one and he found it. He loves it I was thinking about selling my .38 madel 10 and maybe get one of these my self

  • I checked out your review vid and I just picked up a P95 for $300. GREAT gun for a GREAT price !! However with OUT shooting it in your review you missed a few "points" that should be mentioned. 1) You MUST use the slide release and can NOT "ride the slide" or it WILL fail to load/jam...the slide MUST have FULL force!!!! 2) You can NOT limp wrist the P95 or it WILL fail to cycle correctly/jam. 3) Lower recoil and cheap ammo dont seem to cycle well but "hotter" rounds and p+ cycle great.

  • $200 is a great price.

  • Is 200$ a good price?

  • Whereas I love all aspects of the p95, the one thing I especially love is the ambidextrous features of it. Because if you're in a defense situation, you're not always gonna be able to use your dominant hand.

  • I put a HiViz optical front sight on mine, and the difference is astounding.

  • when you lower the safety with the hammer fully cocked will it go off?

  • @nightslayer78 No. It's a safety / de-cocker.

  • @TalulahsDaddy thank you. i've been worried about that.

  • @nightslayer78 When it was new the lever was stiff too. I worked some gun grease into the decocker pivot pin on both sides, and it was a little better.

  • @TalulahsDaddy it wasn't that. it was the hammer falling that got me worried. i've never known a handgun when the hammer fell it didn't fire the round when it's on safe. while i've only had experience with a S&W Sigma and revolvers.

  • @nightslayer78 No !! The hammer fly's froward but the round does not "go off". Its just a de cocker

  • @red89coupe ya i figured that out when i was told earlier in a response and when i went to the range thank you though!

  • this video was made in o8 so it was newer then so it would cost more money then it does now

  • seems to me such a pistol should only be compared to ones of similar features and operation, i.e., others with DA/SA and external hammers; comparing it to a glock is apples and oranges

  • @desirefirst no it's not

  • I recently talked to a guy who's in the Army & he said that he used it when he was deployed.

  • GREAT JOB DOC........ WINNING

  • Uh IMO it's unfair to compare it to a Glock 17. It's a compact, compared to the 17 full size. It's directly comparable to a Beretta PX4

  • Glocks are great pistols....but how are they the reference standard for all 9mm pistols? There are many other 9mm pistols out there that are better than the glock....H&K, beretta, and CZ just to name a few...I own a Glock 19 and it is great, but I really don't consider it the reference standard

  • I just picked up a p-95 9mm rugger for $ 456 & change. It came with 2-15 round Mags. I am well satisfied with but wondering whats the best type of Ammunition to get to fire in it. Thanks

  • I just picked up a p-95 rugger for $ 456 & change. It came with 2-15 round Mags. I am well satisfied with but wondering whats the best type of Ammunition to get to fire in it. Thanks

  • @kenhagerman Dang, you paid a lot. Guy below said he paid 320. I wonder what my gun shop will sell it for. Guess I have to check.

  • @kenhagerman 456? damn bro we need to find that store n smack the hell out of the guy for almost doubling the price on it..he ripped you off bigtime..unless you live in mass

  • Carried a brand new one out of the store yesterday for 320. and change . .... I'll put up against that Glock anytime !

  • wait.. so whats the name of the place you got it for 280? Can I get it online for that price?

  • Would you reccomend this pistol? i am buying a 9mm in about 48 hours so i need help

  • @ChrisCorle01 I bought one last year? Great pistol very ez to use it was my first semi-auto pistol.

  • I have a stainless p95 2 15 round mags, Hogue grip, case paperwork and receipt, less than 2 months old about 400 rounds through it for $300

  • yes it has been used by law enforcement, I carred one for a while when I was a Sheriff's Deputy back in Fla. then I got a glock. I carry a XD 40 now. the ruger is a dam good gun. I just picked one up for my wife. and did a review on it.

  • did he say if it held 15 rds or 10 ?? because impactguns has both for a reasonable price before shipping and handling of course.

  • @bforbes808 its my understanding it comes with a 10 or a 15 based on the state you buy it in. for instance i bought mine in Arizona new From Ruger and it came with (2) 15rd clips !! I Just got mine today !!

  • hahaha i like how you know how to Prescott! Guessing you've been around here NutnFancy? I live in Chino Valley, drive past the Ruger plant every morning on my way to work.

  • Where can I get a grip on this gun? The original grip sucks.

  • Great gun for the money!

  • the p95 looks incredibly manly next to the sr9

  • i love my guns like i love my women... kinda chunky. just kidding, but i love this gun, great review.

  • @ecosby100 oh man thats a deal, where do you buy guns!?

  • Would this be a good first pistol to get? I'm looking for extreme value

  • @c0nsci0usness I bought this for my first pistol a couple years ago and the only problem i have had with it is with the magazines.. I do live in CA, so maybe it's just the 10 rounders we have to have.. have about 3k rounds through it with no problems

  • can this gun be silenced?

  • i just got a p95 and i love it, like bigstabby 1 said below the accuracy is based on the shooter not the gun so much. i paid under 400 for mine and its made in the usa great deal and a great gun

  • @darrellhood25 you over paid the place i go sells them new for 269 you should have got a sr9 for that price babby

  • @ecosby100 it was a good price ruger has them on their site for just under 400

  • @darrellhood25 ya i guess it all matters where you live you know if some gun stores dont have that much comp or if they are working with each other which its illegal but from what i hear about about gun prices and how much they very from state to state they must be working with each other in certain states but ya where i live that gun sells for 260 brand new this place i go even had a special it was 250 brand new with a box of bullets that cost like 12 bucks but that was only for two days

  • @ecosby100 yeah maybe but i look at the websites of the accual product before i buy that way i have i price point to go off of if u can get it for half price thats all good but theres not a lot of gun places here that i would call a real gun store there r a few that think they r though lol

  • i know that this video is old, but it was very helpful to me. my p95 came in a couple days ago and i shot some rounds through and it rocks! thanks so much we all appreciate you taking time to make these!

  • What gun do u think is better Ruger SR9 or Ruger P95?

  • you forgot the most important question: Will it blend?

  • I prefer the P89. Sadly no longer being made.

  • Beretta Px4 Storm type F 9mm-$500 rating 9

    Ruger P95PR 9mm-$260 rating 8.5

Just came back from the Range and did a head to head Comparison at 25yds these Guns just kept asking for more no failures! Shot 300 rounds and split them on each gun 100 round were reloads i got at my local gun show the rest was the federal champion they sell at walmart. Recoil is very light on both guns with the beretta coming out on top just slightly.

This just reassures me that the P95 can Hang with the best of them.

  • The P95 was the first handgun I ever fired. Given the price for a gun not made overseas I am still very impressed! I just wish the SR1911 was legal in CA.

  • Comparing to a Glock 17? You got to be kidding, The Glock is sure as hell not the standard that other semi autos are judged against.

  • @bill5074 I have to agree with you. Every gun should be regarded in it's own. Also, saying a P95 is slightly less accurate than a Glock is a bit bogus. It depends on what gun you are used to and have more time with. A gun is only as accurate as the shooter. Every gun is unique, and every shooter is unique.

  • @bigstabby Not necessarily. Shooting different guns from a bench rest will definitively reveal the differences in accuracy as it no longer depends on the human factor.

  • @bigstabby yeah i shot the p89 and it hit those swinging steel targets almost every time. i almost couldnt miss.

  • just got the p95 this will be my first handgun! figured it will be a good range gun to learn on!

  • FYI, the decocking of the hammer without firing by means of a lever was invented by Walther with the starting with the Walther PP in 1929, which went to the PPK, P38 and every Walther pistol since.

  • Awesome video man i really like how you cover all the important stuff and don't leave things out

  • i love this gun amazing cant beat it for the money no way no how

  • I love my P95. Purchased some factory original 15 rounds mags from cheaper than dirt dot com. I keep her nice and clean. Smaller hands may not like the grip, though.

  • Would you recommend Night sights or laser for the P95? If so which ones?

  • Just bought one brand new at local pawn shop.Cost me $350 before tax . Nice bang for the buck!

  • Hey nutnfancy,

Every gun I've been interested you've reviewed. Before I buy I check your review.

    THANK YOU!

  • This coming weekend, Hoffman's on the TPK in CT has this on sale $250 NEW. Including box of AE 155gr.

  • @razgriz76 yup that where i go to i think im going to just get a sr9 but i dont know i could just buy this thing and make the trigger lighter

  • @razgriz76 sorry people. TYPO 115 gr not 155

  • I have decided to make this my first gun. after warching this video and some other research I decided on this one. and I like that the gun is 'chunky' and heavy. it makes it feel more powerful.

  • i have this same gun the only thing i dont like bout it no safety just a decock but its a very good shooting gun ruger makes some of the best pistols around i own a ruger 9mm and 40cal

  • this is the one my cousin gave me.

  • Happy to say My P95 is working great bought it in January 2011, uses anything, no FTF FTE either, bought extra mags for it at Gander's(NYS mandated 10 rds).

  • glock- 550$

    P95- 300$

250$ difference, which one would be better lol

  • The de-cocker was invented by walther in the Walther PP, followed buy the PPK serices, the Walther P38, then Berreta used it

  • Lol as kid me and my brothers found our fathers guns (p95 & hi-point) my brother shot the tv out with the p95 haha good times -_-

  • Ie got two of these, blue finish in the case with 2 magazines and all the paperwork included, never fired them, got em for me and the wife. Im trying to sell them . I paid around 300 for them, tried to sell them to the pawn shop and all they offered me was 200 bucks a piece, I decided to keep them. Wish I could at least get 250 each.

  • Great video review! Took your advice and got me one used. So fun to shoot ! Keep it up nutnfancy. I grew up around colt .45 and .38 Super but I dont have nor need that kind of money to have a reliable shooter.

  • 250$ with the 30 round clip. Yes the tec clip will fit.

  • Glocks have horrible trigger creep and slack. Ghost Inc., match grade barrel, Talon, and efk firedragon recoil spring should save the day. But a stock Glock... yuck.

  • Got mine brand new for $350 today w/ 2 mags, 50 rounds, and a box. Taking it out to the range tomorrow!

  • @L00karoundyou how's your p95 working for you?

  • Comment removed

  • @TheNeanderthaller It's great, I've put about 500-750 rounds through it so far and it's still firing like the day I got it. I keep this thing super clean too

  • great gun,cool vid

  • just get a glock

  • my lil bro got his for 250

  • I bought mine around 2 months ago and have been to the range many times with mine and never have had any malfunctions feeding or firing at all. This is my second Ruger 9mm and I love it.... I actualy plan on caring it conceled.

  • Great job on the video, just bought this from the PX @ Ft. Drum for $300.00 in stainless.

  • Thanks Nutn just bought mine today. Cant wait to take it to the range.

  • just bought one in central IL gun show for 350$

  • He left out the fact that Arizona is a right to work state and labor costs in Connecticut are much higher.

  • My father owns one of these. The p95 has good accuracy, but my only grievance with the gun is I find the magazine droops down in the mag well making a round get chopped instead of being put into battery. This is a big problem to me and is why I'm going to save up for a Glock.

  • i paid 369 at cabelas for the stainless. cheapest i could find in southern louisiana.

  • ay

  • To all P95 lovers. In December 1994 Ruger was awarded a contract for 5000 P95 pistols by the US Army tank-automotive, and Armaments, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinios.

  • Sportsmans den in ohio has this gun right now for $279.99

  • Your hands look soft like a woman's. No calluses. It's almost as if you have never worked a day in your life. Ever thought of becoming a hand model. I do believe Geoge Castanza did some hand modeling on the Jerry Seinfeld show at some point. Thanks for the vid, sweet heart.

    Stanley

  • @malwana LOLWUT?? XD

  • I did the Hand-All and it worked well.

  • My very first center-fire gun was a P95. It was the earlier version before they textured the grip. It worked reliably and seemed indestructible. I eventually sold it, though, because I wanted a Beretta 92.

  • Damn been thinkin bout one of these. But i gotta say. That exposed hammer, the 15 round magazine, the reliability reputation, and the accuracy reputation, have really got me on the brink of being sold. Good lord. Some locally here for 325... My god i think i might be sold. what shall i ever do.

  • That's my next purchase I'm a two tone gun owner and these two guns suit me fine I got a 327 ,CW-9 both silver and black and I want two add to my small soon to be large collections of two tone guns thx for the heads up dude Aka SheepDawg

  • The decocker was first put on the Walther PP and PPK series before Workd War 2

  • Why do you put the ruger below the glock? I own a p95 and have shot several glocks. For me reliability and accuracy have been the same. There really is no factual basis to arbitrarily say that the glock is a notch above the ruger....i would like to see someone actually prove it.

  • @mccartjm1 p95 single double trigger glock only single glock expensive p95 not expensive glock plastic recoil rod p95 metal so ya p95 for the win

  • Comment removed

  • idk ruger auto loaders i sport a ruger six shooter....yeeehaw

  • @kdhillemann ruger vaquero yeehaw

  • LOL the grip material is probably the same as the bed of my friends pickup truck!

  • Good Review, I just bought one it's stainless.

  • I respect your opinion and see where you're coming from, but I kind of like the heavy-chunky feel and look to it. It's rugged, cheap, and HIGHLY reliable. An over all amazing gun not even looking at the price tag. Simply my opinion.

  • In December 2004, Ruger was awarded a contract for 5,000 KP95D pistols by the U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois-wiki. Do you know why the army did this any one?

  • @m1mthaworld I read someplace that it was for either the Iraqi or afgani military or police. I think Iraqi.

  • I own a P95, it has been my backyard target shooter, and home defense handgun for several years. I have never experienced a jam or misfire. For reliability I would put it on par with any handgun on the market. For home use the P95 delivers and then some. It's a quality handgun at a very reasonable price. The would be thief that tried to steal a ATV out of my pole building a few winters back didn't seem to mind either. His excuse? "I was just trying to warm my hands" .

  • just out of curiosity, how do you put it a notch below glock on reliability. there are hardly and reports of problems with these, ie most fte, or ftl, were ammon related. and i have found just as many if not more problems with glocks. i'm not saying anything bad about glock but apples to apples i would say this gun is as/more reliable than the glocks/sigs out there.. just my opinion

  • @TheMoonrover333 yeah i swear he talks as if glock and sig are only guns around...lol

  • This was my first semi auto handgun and I am completely floored by its reliability factor. I have put 4000+ Wal-Mart cheap Winchester white box ammo through it and I can't remember it EVER not cycling or performing like it should. I do, however, clean my weapons thoroughly after each session. Thanks Ruger!

  • i bought my p95dc model with blue slide and i got it for 250 bucks!! but im currently looking for a glock or sig if i have the money i just want something a little bit more reliable to put my life on

  • +1 on losing the saftey...reduce cost and K.I.S.S. Would love to see the p95 with no saftey and have the price tag under $300, would really make a great low cost U.S.A. made gun even better

  • @Rasey07 Holy Shit! Tomball Pawn? The one in the old Kroger Shopping center? My mind is blown.

  • This is on sale at the PX At Fort Drum (and others) for $300.00 no tax. until 12/26.

  • I clicked on an add just because I liked that Gun and Your Video

  • Interesting, the older metal frame versions where built like tanks.

  • CABELAS HAS IT FOR 299 NOT BAD AS OF 12-22-10

  • just bought mine for $320

  • Do a review on bersa and astra 9mm please you have good opinions.

  • Thanks Nutn, I think the P95 is the best value on the market. I had a p89 back in the day and it was as reliable as my glock 23(100%). Ergos aren't great but an awsome home/boat pistol in my opnion.

  • The P95 was actually just adopted by a branch of the military. I think it was for tank crews, but I'm not positive.

I love these guns! The P95 is one of THE best deals in auto loading pistols today. You just can't go wrong with Ruger.

  • @VHOBSESSED78 your right on the tank crew info heard same thing on gunweek.com

  • @Rasey07-actually 9mm RBDC is far more powerful and destructive than .380 and any ammos from the shelf. RBCD 9mm has 2010 fps (very good for 9mm)

  • @nutnfancy Thanks for the review! I am thinking about purchasing one of these. It's so reasonable, and all P series pistols have the same field strip. By the way, there is a .40 caliber model in the P series; it's called the 944 series. Very bulky, LOL!

  • God nutnfancy, how many subs you bought lately? Gotten any good deals on them?

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI LOL..how much does TWO subs cost? ;) -- Veri

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI He earns them with a great product you A hole!!!

  • Seriously this gun sucks. Everything about it is so mediocre.

  • @Yaahhhhwtf Heh, what do you expect for a 9mm handgun under $300-350? I love the simplicity of this gun, plus Pro Mag makes aftermarket mags for it. If you were to go with say a Sigma series S&W, they are complicated, plus no aftermarket mags for it.

  • Comment removed

  • @valdostastate77 Really? I hear that trigger is like 6lbs, which is pretty heavy for a "striker" pistol. Yeah, I heard they are not exactly a good primary weapon. From what I hear from LEO forums, they would be a better backup. Those Sigmas have a lot of moving parts inside. I know first hand. I almost bought one in .40, lol.

  • Comment removed

  • you're right about safetys..i personally think safetys make it more dangerous I.E.."oh dont worry bout it its on safe BANG!" or "shit i need too draw my gun shit its on safe" lol

  • It weighs 27oz... check the Ruger website.

  • hmm, I prefer my Cold 9mm

  • i don't think safety's are outmoed, that's my only complaint with the glock, but i just deal with it

  • i used to own one, it's good, quality, didn't jam, but ultimately i got rid of it and just went with glock. it's also a pain to strip since i'm left handed

  • Hey nutnfancy!! great review..I was reading where Ruger in 2004 was awarded a contract for 5000 KP95D's to the Tank automotive command for the US Army in ILL. Just some info I wanted to share with you...

Take care and keep the reviews coming !!!

  • You should've done a kanye west and told the people in the background to stop talking.. while almost crying. He's a fool.

  • @Rasey07

re: LCP: the sights kinda suck on it. And it's a 380. Compact/SUBCOMPACT 9mm hollow point is the way to go.

  • i have one of these-all black tho...not the greatest gun, but you really cant beat the price. definitely chunky. haha

  • Another good vid thanks

  • I am a female with small hands. Looksing for a 380....something I can use for personal protection AND target shooting. I would like something that will last but is affordable. I "loved" the SIG p238 and Walther ppk. But they are both out of my $ range. I trust your judgment.

  • @vickiness10: ruger lcp. good quality, haven't had one jam yet, similar feel to a walther, but only costs around $350-400.

  • hi i have a problem i just got back from Afghanistan three mouths ago and im trying to buy a gun with the money i saved up. but i dont know which gun i want... im looking at between a ruger p95 and a ruger p94. which gun should i buy? i know that the 94 is a little bit more expensive but i really like the design but i dont mind getting a 95 to save some more money. please get back to me thanks

  • Kinda dumb question: With one in the chamber and the hammer decocked, is it safe to carry holstered with the safety lever off (relying upon the double-action trigger pull as a safety)? The idea being, of course, that one could then draw and be ready to fire immediately without having to click off the safety lever. I really like this pistol, but the slide-mounted safety bugs me because it's hard for my thumb to reach and is backwards from a 1911 (which is down for fire, up for safe).

  • @darkwriter77 I pack my p85 one round in hte chamber de-cocked, hav for years.Im in no way saying that is the safest way to pack it , Just my2cents.

  • @darkwriter77 When you are stressed, unless you practice alot, you will screw it up when you pull to shoot. You will not remember to take the safety off to fire and will be standing there pulling the trigger and nothing will happen. Hence why glock and XD are so popular, you simply pull the trigger. The last think you ever want is to pull to shoot a threat, pull the trigger and then fumble with the safety. The gun will not go off as long as you follow proper safety rules.

  • Comment removed

  • @BlackSpade72 um since the early 80s every single gun has a firing pin drop safety, including glock and xd as well as ruger. Unless you buy a 1911 from the 30s, your not going to have your weapon go off from dropping it, even if it falls on the hammer or striker. I think you mean hammer de cocked, not closed? Unless you train with a gun that has a manual safety, you wont remember to flick it off when the time comes. Keep the safety off and your booger hook out of the trigger guard lol.
