  • What is all this about france losing? Has everyone forgotten Orléans, Austerlitz and Verdun? And as for wars, I thought WWI was pretty notable.

  • @ExocetInf portugais...

  • Mon pays, mon amour

  • best anthem ever. Lyrics and music.

  • France lost this and France lost that...

Ok, let me break it down for you anglo-saxons who hate France.

America wouldn't have existed without France.

Britain became the Britain we know today because of the Normans... christianized Vikings who spoke... French.

    Nuff said.

  • @Stferdinanddhalifax America should have remained British.

  • @NapoleonBonaparte179 Britain should have remained British! Look at the Third World dump it has become. After almost 900 years of being, it has finally committed suicide. America isn't far behind.

  • @NapoleonBonaparte179 Well, its gonna soon be Chinese, so i guess it all doesn't matter...

  • @Stferdinanddhalifax Normandy was the viking province of France, check it.

  • @Yalashaska

You are wrong Normandy was not a viking province .

  • @Stferdinanddhalifax Very true! I'm one yank who love France....been there five times. And the people were always quite friendly (if you just try to speak a little French). Anti-French sentiment arises out of ignorance or jealousy. And forgetfulness. Rise above petty rivalries to celebrate centuries of Franco-American friendship and shared sacrifice for liberty!

  • 47 suckas have no taste in music or countries

  • > any anthem. Owned.

  • Respect from Romania

  • Vive la france!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ohhh so classy indeed....dieu bénit France!!!

  • Maravilhoso demais!

  • The best Anthem in the world. All verses should be sung.

  • Looks like its time to bring the other verses out of retirement! Singing ONLY verses 1 and 6 ain't gettin' it done.

  • best anthem!

  • Just brilliant. Respect from England.

  • what a beautiful anthem!

  • Everybody knows how beautiful is the Marseillaise. However with Roberto Alagna Interprestation is ever beautiful. it's powefull is just amazing, I love the France's National Anthem.

  • Beautiful (little tear running down my cheek)

    With love from Denmark :)

  • @christholst13 I'm from Norway and I don't understand French but I find the translation of this anthem

it's probably the best and most powerful anthem in the world. with a strong passion. I can understand your comment.

  • El Mas Masonico de todos los Himnos , S.·.F.·.U.·.

  • I've learned to love the French because they will go on strike at the drop of a hat, kidnap insolent bosses, and take the streets to terrorize bureaucrats!

Americans have BIG mouths but cower like mice before domestic tyranny! If somebody powerful gets out of line, the CIA stages a hit on them using doped-up patsies or they stage a terror event by using Wahabist mercenaries.

Americans roll over like whipped dogs as they let banks with fraudulent pieces of paper rob them of their homes.

  • @InfiniteMushroom I agree entire with your remarks on the French. I lived there for eight years and vouch for it. They rule to an extent ''from the street' I have many wonderful friends in France, but given their history I never understand their total ''give up all for the EU', France is one country in Europe whe needs no others, They have the land and the produce, the wine and the ports also the industry. ' Thier great economic failing is that half their population work for the public sector.

  • @overopensights Perhaps the French were persuaded that they would be in the driver's seat of this EU nonsense. I would argue that the high percentage of the French being in the public sector is a good thing! A large public sector prevents the misallocation of labor resources on frivolous or menial enterprises. It gives a large bloc of people the kind of political solidarity that can challenge tyranny. It prevents France from becoming a privatized hellhole like America.

  • @InfiniteMushroom You think a little deeper than me, perhaps with good reason. I know a lot of private business in France suffer badly with very high local taxes to pay for the high number in Gov employ, High streets have so many disused shops. When I first went to France there were eleven people running the Marie (Mayor's office) recently they had about a battalion in there, and rates jumped from Eur 334 to over Ero 800. But people get taken good care of in France. which is a bonus!

  • @overopensights What you've described is the parasitic drain on the French economy by the EU, NOT the number of public employees! France was doing quite well before they were conned into joining the EU. The EU, by the way, was in progress for almost 50 years before the Eurogarchs removed the camouflage. I'll also wager that the huge jump in paper pushers working for the Mayor's Office was done to handle the extra busybody work imposed by the EU.

The EU's very existence is criminal malfeasance.

  • @InfiniteMushroom I can see why the French take no part in Arab wars, they fought Arabs for very many years. Also a many Arabs in their populace. Some Americans see the 'stay at home' attitude of the French as cowardice, while French see it as commonsense! Also they saved Billions by doing so! But why do you think they opted out of Nato all those years ago? We in the British army thought it was an American/ French plan so that France could act as a 'loose cannon' if tactically required

  • @overopensights Interesting perspective on why France was seen as a convenient loose cannon! Hadn't thought of that. Of course, like all diplomacy and geopolitics, it could've been disinformation to complicate Soviet war planning.

In my opinion, the best mind to explore on how the EU ought to be understood is NIGEL FARAGE of the U.K. Independence Party. I had pretty much lost all hope in the U.K. until I heard Mr. Farage. He is the lone voice of sanity in U.K. politics.

  • @InfiniteMushroom If you want a good rendering of this national Anthem try the clip Mireille Mathieu. She sings with a French army Choir. Quite spectacular. She is depicted top right of this page. What is your heritage I am quite intrigued to know. Tell me to 'mind my own business; if you wish!

Another old English saying for you "France is a woman" this is said with a shrug of the soldiers when referring to French 'unpredicatability' and a mind of her own. She is quite entitled of course.

  • @overopensights Thank you for the reference to Mlle. Mathieu's performance of La Marseillaise.

A nice try on her part but, I still give my salute to Mssr. Alagna and his superior and very powerful performance here.

  • Bravo Alagna !!!!!!! *****

  • March on my brothers and sister march on don`t let those who would do harm to the country, listen to the words this is to save your country then as now MARCH ON MARCH ON . . . . . . . . .

  • j'en ai des frissons !!

  • Awesome

  • Now that I've read the English versification of this magnificent anthem and listened to Roberto Alagna while reading it, now is the time for American Slaves to adopt it as their own!

Enough with Alex Jone's impotent "infowar" strategy. We are going to be infowar'd all the way to the FEMA camps, bondage, poverty, slavery, and death. Our heads will be full of useless information while our homes are seized and our families groped and radiated everywhere we go.

    To arms, American Slaves!

  • Is there a studio performance of this where the acoustics are better?

  • Amazing song and performance!

    Love to France from Serbia!

    Good bless You!

  • Spectacular! We should remember that, without French aid and support, we might still be the subjects of a British monarch. We promptly abandoned France in war but generations later paid our debt, several times over some might argue . Perhaps we should consider the French more of our natural allies than the sycophant British.

  • @wholeNwon: It is also a fact that the French could 'take out the US' with regard to Nuke weapons! Always unpredictable the French, but who fights like Lions beside US troops since June 1944: The Brits! we fight alongside you even today! Brits are dying now, while the French 'sit it out! But this video is not about politics it is about a very powerful 'National Anthem' It is certainly impressive; but they sing about butchering there own countrymen! which the French are quite good at!

  • Comment removed

  • @RustedHatter The Brits dying refers to Afganistan! also read up on the 'Fall of France' and get some facts before you start on about your Granpa!

  • Viva la France!

    from Canada :)

  • tout simplement magnifique.Vive la france

  • There is a saying about the 'American Revolution', it goes, "The war started in the North, was fought in the South and won by the French", the French provided the American colonists with gunpower, muskets and towards the end the French even provided a Naval blockade and men to fight at Yorktown. The American people should cherish their relationship with the people of France.

The French did famously make mistakes in WW2 and at Dien Bien Phu in Indo China, but they are a truly brave People.

  • Unfortunately, the French have lost every war by sticking to the established rules without taking note of modern developments. Read longbow, musket volleys, and finally tanks. That does not, however, detract from their heroism. Rather the opposite.

  • @ElBundz

We did not lose every war, in fact we won the majority of the wars we've been involved in. That makes us a lot more heroic, don't you think? :DD

  • @RavenSoldier Please feel free to correct me, including examples! I am always happy to learn. I was mainly talking about the Napoleons, I suppose, and the 100 yrs war.

  • @ElBundz you should read the history of this anthem, and read an anglish transcript of the lyrics-you will quickly see that they apply urgently to America today. if afghanistan is the graveyard of empires, then surely, the ardienne is the graveyard of invaders.

  • @njminer1 I'm not sure what America has to do with my comment. It is the French national anthem, and America (the US?) doesn't interest me. As to transcripts, I am quite capable of reading the french, thank you.

  • @ElBundz

  • @ElBundz

I disagree with you. The french were at forehead of technical war developpement. In your sentences you used french words: long in longbow, musket (from french mousquet), volley (volée), all french words...

  • @sirupeuse

Quite right, they are french words. There is a lot of french influence in the English language, following the norman conquest and centuries of french language use amongst the aristocracy. They were not invented by the french, though. Nor were they first used in Europe by the french, as far as I am aware.

  • @ElBundz

You are right. Mousket for example was not a french invention, but were used massively by the french very quick (muskets didnt exist during french invasion of england). Tanks were invented at same time by british and french. I disagreed with the lie about "french didnt win a war thing". In fact the french were in war for a 1500 years of existence, and they won far more battles than the lost ones.

(I dont want to say the french are superior, i am not nationalist, but its a fact).

  • BRAVO ROBERTO ALAGNA.

  • VIVE LA FRANCE!!!! This is a great anthem and the People of France should be proud to have it.

    From,

A friend of the French Republic in North America

  • The French do this stuff better than anyone. The Americans try to copy their style in their parades.
