The reason they had so much weight for their size is because Pontiac engineered it to be built like a tank and be safe on American roads. Even just the door felt like a big Camaro door it was so heavy, from the huge steel beam in it.

@pd93lxt those numbers are true, he posted up the dyno sheet on a forum I used to be a member of. He should be making more, but like all sbc swaps in fieros, they all underperform hp wise, and in the qtr mile as well.
The public automatically thinks that because it is a somewhat light car(2800ish pnds) and you install a v8, it is automatically going to be fast. Well sorry, but 13's in the qtr mile is not fast. 300 whp is not fast, especially when you have hondas making that with boost too.
@Cletusbuildsjunk It's precisely 300whp because it's turbo AND 383. It's only at 6psi, and it can't go much higher than that because the components used in the engine have to be very strong to take any more boost. The problem is much, much worse on a 383.
Usually a forged 355 is the best way to go if you're trying to turbo an LT1.
