Well I really don't know what people are complaining about. RE was always an action/horror series and never fully survival horror.

I would think that would be obvious with the wide selection of weaponry you had at your disposal.

And did anyone ever think that the reason why they didn't make it more action oriented was because they couldn't(limitations of the psx hardware)?

And some of that 'horror' came from bad controls, but you could always memorize every enemy placement and breeze thru.

capcom removed the true survival horror in their latest games, ya know the feeling of suspense and helplessness that the characters xperience. the thrill of ammo consumption and puzzle solving are long absent in the new titles not to mention that they made the characters "too much of an action star"cuz they can shove off and punch, kick and throw the enemies.

@darkskyBAO I can understand where you're coming from, in RE2 you couldn't punch kick or throw zombies, it was either shoot 'em or you were F***'d. Keep in mind the limits of tech back in the 90's, also nowadays ppl expect diff stuff. I never played anything past RE2 (no RE3 or 4, Code Veronica etc) but I did give RE5 a try. Seemed more like a shooter & less like a "survival horror game." After having my head chainsawed off 3x by an African Super-Zombie I gave up lol.

I think it stopped at 4, 4 still had that survival element. And there were puzzles in it that took some time(However it did seem more of a action game). But 5 and the newest one coming out just looks and sounds stupid. Its like they took the horror and suspense out of it completely.

@darkskyBAO I enjoy the shoving, punching, kicking and I have yet to see throwing but what ever. Conserves ammo, which is what a real survivor would do if the opportunity arose. The action, though, does not make a good substitute for the horror, though the game isn't that scary. Just surviving a horror situation makes it feel great. So yeah, I agree. Needs more suspense horror and helplessness.
