  • amazing talent

  • something wrong... can't explain... but...

    or maybe not...

  • Great lesson

  • Hey, I know its an old vid, but I thought maybe you still see the MSGs posted here. I've been practicing with your vids for a while now, and I got a question for you. how do you build the rest of the body on top of you initial line of action? Do you plan it to be part of the mass? is it the inside of the mass? how does the approach differs from pose to pose? and how would you define "rhythm" in a 2D picture?

Thanks man, your drawing approach is really astonishing.

  • you are a very passionate artist :)

  • great work...

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Just a question, is it possible to do this with pencil, like a number two pencil.

  • I #2 pencil (which is essentially an HB lead) isn't as soft as the 8B Staedtler Lumograph pencil I'm using here. But that isn't to say that the technique won't work. I use this same basic approach when I draw cartoon characters as well. But try the Staedtler Lumograph pencil on newsprint (draw big with your entire arm) and see how different it feels.

  • @ChoctawWillie Thank you very, I was amazed when i first say, cause at first i couldn't tell what you were drawing and then when you got half through it, I was WOW Now I see it lol it was very cool and inspiring

  • @ChoctawWillie What I also want to know is whats the mental message you keep in mind while drawing, like do you tell yourself this line goes here or is it automatic.

  • i am looking for the rhythm of the pose—seeing how everything flows into one another. You can see this in the way my line moves. I am also trying to express the form with every line, making sure that the line crosses over the volume—pushing it rather than flattening it.

I would recommend reading the first few chapters of "The Natural Way to Draw" By Kimon Nicholades. I think it expresses what I'm looking for.

    Hope that helps! :)

  • I does thank you, can you find these books on the enternet, AND in a library or just in one

  • Hey, try the pose challange on my channel. A figure in 90 seconds, it's fun.

  • 1ST POST! HAHAHA! It was the right time! Anyways, I like your style! You know I can't manage a 20 min nude drawing with charcoal so this tutorial is extrememly helpful! Thank you so much!
