  • Oh my god, I died a little I was laughing so hard. National response time for Law Enforcement(I am a cop) is 18 minutes average. If you rely on us arriving within a minute to save you then you deserve to be robbed/raped/murdered. We do our best but we can't teleport to you. Take a basic self defense class, Buy a firearm, or at least a tazer or mace.

  • I don't understand why people that believe they're owed $15,000 bother coming to the people's court where they can only get $5,000. Being on TV isn't worth the $10,000 to me.

  • @hoodedreaper87 In this case, the plantiff's statutory maximum is $2000.

    But to answer your question:

    a) they get to appear on TV and 15 minutes of fame

    b) they get paid from a fund less any loss from the verdict.

In this case, within the first minute, you know the plantiff has got no chance in hell of winning and is sueing out of anger. He's got no actual evidence! By going on People's Court, he is guarenteed a payday of between $2-5K and has saved himself some lawyer's fees.

  • I didnt think that guy would ever win, the landlord is NOT responsible and the tenat told him someone would be coming by, so hearing a thump would not mean much.

I dont believe he had $2000 cash in his dresser and goes on a trip- he'd have taken the money for the trip.

    Guy shoulda had renters insurance:)

  • I like the defendant's accent

    I wonder where he's from

  • @atomus He sounds french, but he could be from a French speaking African country. His last name sounds French too, but he does seem to have a different accent than people from France, which is why I think he could possibly be from a French speaking African or other country.

  • @atomus I think it's an Ethiopian accent.

  • apartment insurance comes to mind....just sayin'

  • If the plaintiff was my tenant, I'd find a way to get him out of my property as fast as I could. The man has some very strange ideas about other people's responsibilities.

  • 6,44 looks like the killer from the film" seven" with the "wheres wally"glasses n trilby hat n "flashers mac" scarey

  • "polly wanna big screen" haha very good for once, usually the geezer outsde is a right twat

  • I think the plaintiff thinks that everyone is his personal servant: the landlord should have magically known the thump was from a robber and not his mom, he should have cleaned up for him, the cops should show up in 1 minute when called...it's ridiculous. He, like too many other people, think that if he's paying you or your company money then he gets to make you do whatever he wants.

A judge would not have to tell a reasonable person that they can't invent new law.

  • The plaintiff is a dumb ass. His landlord is not his keeper. LOL, he should have stayed at home and guard his property instead of going on a holiday.

  • LOL. This is one of the VERY few times that I like the peanut gallery outside.

  • He should have had apartment insurance and a alarm system. What was he doing keeping rare coins anyplace but a safe deposit box? Why did he keep 2k in a house while he was on vacation? It could have been one of his daughters friends, or considering that he wasn't paying his rent, he could have set this up himself. He has a boat and he can't pay $300? And to demand that the landlord clean up the glass! What a jerk. Hope the D ends his lease after this cause this guy is not through making trouble.

  • Plaintiff is a dumbass, trying to make the defendant pay for something he's not responsible for.

  • That being said, I do think the landlord could easily have had something to do with the burglary. He knew when the P was gone AND he has a key; so he could have easily taken/pawned the TV, taken the money and broken the glass to cover his tracks. Stranger, more immoral things have happened!

Ok, I'm finished ranting...on to the next case! Again, thanks ThePeopleCourt!!!

  • It would be nice if one could sue for damages partly caused by someone's lack of common sense, but I think there are enough frivolous lawsuits pending right now; clog a system too much and it stops working! This case was a good reminder that renter's insurance can be worth the cost (although I'm a rebel and take my chances LOL). Thanks again, ThePeopleCourt! <3

P.S. Now that you all know I don't have renter's insurance, please don't come rob me! I promise I don't have anything you want! =P

  • Ahhh, nuts! No comments in the hallway? I'd have loved to hear them in this case!

  • the poor defendant :/

  • First of all ,the money in the closet, no way that they existed. You dont owe someone money if you have a stash.

Second, its a real possibility that the landlord is in cahoots with the burgler, leave the car running if he need a fast getaway, and go in the shower so he doesnt "hear" anything and finally phone the police much later so he has done the "good landlord thing" while the burgler is long gone.

Proving this in court, VERY hard.

  • @brighteye007 With respect to your opinion, I must disagree. Regardless of whether your cash stash is in your sock drawer or your medicine cabinet, if you owe money, you owe money! You couldn't tell the electricity company that you don't owe money because you consider your cash stash to be non-existant. lol :)

  • first

  • Thanks for the upload!!!

    this was an awesome case!!!

  • LOL if I were the landlord I'd be looking to terminate his lease. Plaintiff was crazy.

Also, he mentioned that the landlord didn't clean up the broken glass. Um... duh? I'd want to see the scene of the crime myself after I came back. I don't necessarily want my landlord in my house rummaging about after a burglary.

  • @BonsaiBlog I agree. In fact, had the landlord cleaned up the mess the plaintiff would have just used it against him. "I know he was in my apartment because he cleaned up the glass!"

  • Why would you waste $2K on a TV when you can watch ThePeopleCourt's channel on your computer?

  • @AuntFlo81 For free! :)

  • @ThePeopleCourt And at a time that is convenient for one's self! :)

  • @ThePeopleCourt

How come Peoples Court videos do not get taken down but Judge Judy videos do? Is it because they are on different TV channels?

  • @365daysgone Different companies hold the copyrights.

  • @ThePeopleCourt So you hold the rights to The People's Court? D:

  • @ThePeopleCourt its funny, that most artist and TV programs are known through youtube and the bittorrent network.

But still they are fighting the above in almost every way they can.

  • @365daysgone because peoples court realize that videos on youtube help them, and dont hurt them ;D

  • @365daysgone People's Court is better in my opinion anyway :)

  • don't know about either of these guys stories but the Plaintiff's comment about police response time being one minute?!?!? not sure which dream world he is living in.

  • Ive seen this case a few times, and Im still confused, whhhhyyy would the defendant leave his car running while in the shower??? I just cant make sense of it

  • @sparks199 If it was very hot/cold he may have left the air/heat going in the car while he showered so that the temperature inside the car would be comfortable when he was ready to get in the car. Some new cars even have that as a design feature: you can get the A/C going without leaving your keys in the car.

  • both of them are a bit strange, the plaintiff said someone would be coming by, how was the defendant to know it wasn't that person ? the defendant is a dimwit to leave a car running and go in the house to take a shower; for the plaintiff to still be living there says something about his frame of mind, YEESH !

  • okay, what did I miss? It's August, 1:30-ish in the morning, the defendant's in the shower and his car is running? Interesting . . .

  • I was looking forward to the interview with the plaintiff because it sounds like he just doesn't understand how the world works.

  • I understand the feeling of helplessness the P has. Its a terrible feeling to have a stranger in your home and take your property from you. However, he still cant hold the D liable.

  • Is the audience full of children?

  • @3axim, maybe a class trip ?

  • @3axim field trip?

  • The plaintiff's odd

    rate of speech

    makes me hate

    his face.

  • Woo.. number one. :)

  • @sweetnlovin W o W, happy now ?
