@kchamz Right on. I've always felt that way. Eddie is so far ahead of his peers in this regard. Even the little interludes he puts between sections are usually better than other guys' main riffs.
it's actually out takes from the 5150 sessions because i have the whole thing on disc i downloaded it from Vuze..At the end of this version you could hear Eddie talking about Alex's double bass fills muddying up the mix and Sammy said he needs to redo his part because he was not sure of the turnaround and where it was going because they didn't have any charts laying out the song being that none of them sight read music ..there are three takes of this and the last one has the lead guitar
as much as i fuckin love van halen, i have to honestly say this demo sounds like shit...sounds like 4 hamsters are chewing on Ed's Marshall amp wires while he is playing.
No guitar solo, just a rhythm track, Slightly different vocals from Sammy. No background vocals from Mike (yet, at that time). It's AWESOME to hear how this killer tune from VH Mach II (better the 2nd time around, sorry Roth & HIS fans). THANK YOU ED,AL,MIKE & SAM for 11 years of EXTRAORDINARY MONSTER MUSIC...I got play this again & search for more.

There just so many rhythm parts in VH songs that interest me more than the solos. 5150 is a great example.

I believe this is the '58 Gibson Korina Flying V that was used for most of the 1984 album...

This tells us that Alex had the electric drums even in the studio. WoW.

@TheCoon71 Just listening to the records tells us that he was using electronic drums. (Real snare, though.) A real shame.
