I just spent like what $36 on FRAPS, then find out when trying to do a LP using a GBA Emulator, it doesn't pick up on the software. Now I have to use the shitty built in video recorder, and find out I'll have to pay ANOTHER 40 ish bucks to get this software. screw that.
Are you familiar with recording music from a mixer? I want to record a set using a Pioneer DJ mixer. How would I go about by doing so by using Audacity and my laptop?

@CloudyDayArt Please help.I use an alesis mixer and am mixing my guitar through a marshall amp via a microphone into my laptop using earphones recording on top of simple backing tracks such as Guns n roses.The problem is that I can get the volume levels of the guitar and backing track level when recording then when playing back what I've played and mixed my guitar has got louder by at least 20% and the backing track is barely audible.I can't get the microphone level on Audacity any lower.
I just recorded a track on Audacity, and it doesn't seem to recognize its existance. The save, edit, delete, etc buttons are all grayed out when I try to use them. Nothing seems to work. It is as if I never made a recording, except for the fact that I can see the audio bars and playback works fine. Help is appreciate.
@SeasonedSnooper I had this problem - very simple to solve. Basically, it won't edit if the audio is on record, play or PAUSE it will not allow you to do any editing. you simply have to press stop then it will no longer be all grey and you will be able to edit. Easy peasy. hth

My cousin and I have a band with a few friends and were working on drum tracking right now and because of living in a small town with no studios/music stores around we had to make a ghetto ass rig with 4 Mic's channeling from the Myxer and PA into a laptop we have hooked up to his set and every mic picks up everything perfectly and sounds great!... 1 - Click the little microphone on the bottom right of your screen
2 - Go to the top left and click "Options"
3 - Click "Properties"
4 - Look for your sound driver's named and make sure its on input under "Mixer Device"
I recently bought a couple of new ecuipment to be able to record myself singing at home. The problem is that the finished product when im recording it with audacity does not at all have the same sound quality as if I plug in my headphones direclty into my soundcard(which I use through usb)without recording. There is nothing wrong with the mic, cables och sound card, but somehow then I record the quality seems to be quite shitty...What is the problem, and how do I solve it?
@blaxiie you're gonna need something like mixcraft 5 or pro tools. Audacity unfortunately is free for a reason, and that is that it might not produce the quality some people need. Give another software a try and message me if you have any other problems! :)
@codkings97 turtle beach mic works and it works great! much better than one built into computer. highly recomend it if you have it. if not, then go spend $70 for the cheapest one lol.

@SynsterTapp3r computer sound cards arent meant for recording guitar, go get yourself a real mic or recording software. Rock band mics are great for beggining
@samsungprin If you're talking about recording as it's coming from the speakers, then you should play a song or something and as you are recording using Audacity, you should choose different sound inputs from the dropdown list seen right of the mouse at 2:58. I don't know why but this one is greyed out. Mine (and hopefully yours!) isn't.

I ordered an M-Audio USB Producer mic with a small version of Pro Tools. For some reason we keep running into unknown problems when trying to record with Pro Tools so we use Audacity now and it works fine for the time being. I have heard about "Sonar" or something like that... is it good?

Can someone tell me how to record another track while listening to the previous one WITHOUT the previous track being recorded as well...if this makes sense..DESPARATE HELP NEEDED!!!!

i tried recording with my rockband mic, it has a USB connection and when i plugged it in, Audacity didnt detect it. :( any answers?

i myself have audactiy and have no problems recording with it ..but my friend just gota new mic and we were using audacity temporarily , but when we record it sounds good then when we replay it is shifts time and pitch us up to high (sounds like chipmunks) so any help would be much appreciated

i have a question that is in desperate need of answering. how do i connect something like gearbox to audacity? i can open gearbox and audacity, but it doesn't pick up the guitar sound. i KNOW it's possible because my friend was over at my place for hours and he finally did it, but he didn't know what he was doing and was just clicking buttons. once i exited out of audacity and came back in it wasn't picking anything up again. PLEASE tell me how to fix this.

ah thanks a lot. i have a netbook and a usb microphone, i just needed to figure out how to get it to record through the microphone rather than the microphone in the computer.... thanks a whole bunch

I ordered an M-Audio USB Producer mic with a small version of Pro Tools. For some reason we keep running into unknown problems when trying to record with Pro Tools so we use Audacity now and it works fine for the time being. I have heard about "Sonar" or something like that... is it good?

@JejeProductionsCPTV I think go to you file and look for export after that go to your windows movie maker and then click search for audio and music thing then look for the title of the thing you recorded then click that it should work I hope these helps and made any sense lol
