The starting position for the clinch deliberately gives one wrestler an advantage. Originally, the advantage wrestler was selected by a flip of a disk, but it was too easy for officials to cheat (single color disks, flipping the disk over when they pick it up, etc.) So to eliminate cheating a red ball and blue ball are put in a bag.
