Awesome battle, Rua did a great job of making the champ look human but I genuinely believe Machida won, Rua got the body and leg kicks which winded Machida but Machida attacked with the most conviction and power, and to Rua head, I felt like Machida held back when he went in, he kept stopping, which i think was his mistake, but when he went in Rua looked surprised by the power of Machida strikes.
Machida did get worked but during the exchange at the end of round three. If you watch the replay. Shogun throws 8 punchs only one lands. Machida evades 7 of them with just head movement. Thats why I think the third round went to Machida.

Anyone that thinks Muay Thai doesnt get the credit it deserves or thinks Muay Thai sucks...knows shit about MMA.
The three styles most used in MMA are Muay Thai, Wrestling and Jujitsu.
In pure striking matches like in K1 almost every single champion to date have been Thai Boxers, a mix of Muay Thai and Kickboxing.
You dont see Karate champions because its very weak when even compared to Tae Kwon-do. Karate is strong in defensive counters only against other styles.
