Well, I'm subscribed. I thought your advice was awesome, and you are right, the kong vault IS just a mental challenge, I know I am able to do it but after watching and attempting your exercises I felt a lot more confidence in myself while trying this move. I am definitely going to the park to practice this as soon as the weather is dry outside.
Awww sone, just did a Kong in my living room off one of our large wooden footrests. I was just playing around and then im like, wait a sec, is this the kong? made my sister video tape me and then showed me the video, and yes it was!
I have a problem with my kong (style). I can do a kong over a table (arround 1.6 meters) but i cant get my legs high up. they are always crouched together :( please help if u know how u can help :) !
@gun818 dude, i have them all the time, annoys the hell out of me lol the way i cope with it is if im in standing there and ready to go but i have a block i take one step back and look away then i jump right in before my mind says no lol. cuz if u have a mind block and ur vault chances are you're going to hurt yourself :/
Can anyone help? i cant squat down with my heels touching the ground..so how can i squat down with my heels touching to ground ? like how the guy did in the video where he jumped and squatted down on the table?
@TheMrFiggins It's ok. if you look closely, his feet aren't either. however, they seem closer to the ground because of his shoes. no shoe is exactly form fitting. it is probably sliding down a little.
It really is psychological. I know the technique and I have far more than enough physical strength, but I'm afraid of falling even if I know it wont hurt.
@UrbanCurrent: i've been trying the kong alot but still i cant get over the object. I think my problem is the momentum, when i use 2 foot punch take off it seems like my momentum goes upward not forward. All other techniqe is correct, the object is about stomach height. Any tips for me??
alright so iam kinda fat and ive gotten into parkour but for the first step of this i can get my legs to be parallel and inside my hands , what happens is they land on the outside of where my hands are like my feet land inside but my knees stick out instead of being together :/ am i just doing it wrong or is it cuz iam fat?
It took me about an hour to learn it with this tutorial. I literally took the laptop outside with this tutorial preloaded and succeeded :D I still need to get my dive longer though
@Naruto67ful haha, not to worry. At first I was scared to do them as well, but all it takes is the realization that you can do them, even though your frantic brain tells you otherwise. Keep practicing, and eventually you'll be able to do them without a second thought.
@Mellonator007 Practice in a padded gym type setting first. I tried just going for it for about 3 months, and couldn't get it. Then one day I went to a gymnastics gym, konged over a block type thing, and next thing I know I had the courage to do it outside :).
hey everyone, i just did like 12 kongs today and im realy happy :D. if u keep at it then it will happen, and it will be the coolest feeling in the world. it took me basically a year to do cuz i never really devoted time to it; probably once a week. you will fail and it will suck, but just get over it and try again. i was afraid of diving, but i kept putting my hands farther and farther bak and now i can do them! hope this helps people. also i learned from this tutorial, so they know their shit:P
i can do it kinda, when i do the monkey stall i get half way across the table but ive done it before and smashed my shins so im too scared to just go for it :L help please...
hi im new to parkour could you please check out my very first video i hope you like it its indoors sorry i will be doing outside aswell i was hoping if you could help me out get popular
at my first attempt, I kong-ed up the side of the table, but I couldn't go over the bench - I just landed on top of the table. I tried to go faster, but always landed on near the other edge of the table. To go over the table, should I place my hands futher to the otherside of the table? or should I just go faster and jump stronger?
p.s. I tried to split-step jump the kong, but ended up hitting my knees, what should I do?
For some reason, my knees end up hitting my elbow thus hurting a lot and messing up my form. should I space out my hands or try to keep my knees more together?
Lol. I'm trying to do this on a coffee table, but it moves easily by my forward momentum so I never get to push with my hands so my feet never go past my hands... Lol. At least I got over the fear. Thank you. :)
Great tutorial! without it i wouldnt learn kong..just a note to myself i made soon: Never,Ever use the 1 leg take off. ....i hurt my leg and was grounded for a whole week
I keep stabbing at the obstacle when im diving over....should i let my hands pass through fluidly? Or should i always make sure to pop my arms when diving? Also i have seen other videos, including double kongs and triple kongs. Their bodies are extended in the air, feet straight and at a 45 degree angle! Is it totally necessary to have them that straight and or that high?
ok well i used to be able to clear a whole pickinick table but now i just got the habbit to do it with two feet instead of one ......how can i break that habbit?
Hey, thank you SO much for this tutorial. It's the best Parkour tutorial I've found so far because you break it down into so much detail. The warm-up REALLY helped get rid of my toe-clipping fear! =]
I have a problem here, see I'm really tall and my knees/legs can't go between my arms because they can't get over. I have really long legs so instead of
@SuperG4mR Left leg to the left? your legs shouldent be passing between your arms, thats impossible for average people. Keep your knees together. When you dive, you touch the table with both hands and do a little push up to spin, arch your spine. Then take your knees to your chest together
@batty256 I meant a monkey vault because its a little different. My left arm Lifts up from the obstacle a little so my legs can fit through so my hip tilts to the left
@SuperG4mR if you're having trouble with that then you need to try push your hips higher, then you will have more room for your legs, ideally your hips should be higher than your shoulders for this vault to work well
i the first time doing a kong of a bridge fell off the brige broke both of ma rists lol a whol year and more later .... today ive just konged a wall and then a pole and i was like WHOOOOOOO!!!!! LOL i was siked it was epic i flippin konged:)
hmm that take off ... i cant do nice kong when taking off .... even my friend he was the first who knew for that vualt when we started and he was doing it well with take off but when i started doing kong i didnt do take off and im doing it way better than him now i can also do double kong which is really easy but if i do take off i cant do shit o.o
guys, i need help...my legs don`t go high as shown in the tutorial. I`m always, in a kind of crouched position. What I`m doing wrong?? tnx in advance :)
@duka951 Try jumping more horizontally, almost like your about to flop on the floor, but keep the height. Grab the object (easily a thinner rail or back of a chair) and bring your legs outward and through your hands. Right as they pass your hands, let go and try and land the jump. Hope this helped.
Is it recommended to put my hands as far as i can from my shoulder? for example... making it larger so my legs can get into it easier or should i place my hands shoulders-lenght?
Ok, so about a year ago I watched this vid and could kong within a few tries. Midway between then and now I had a posterior spinal fusion (apparently I'm scoliotic). Now, I've watched this vid again and can only kong about 3 feet on my bed (the suburbs aren't very abundant with training spots, so I manage :P.) My bed's about 4'5. Each time I try to kong it I can't finish and end up kashing it. This is extremely frustrating. Can anyone help? Appreciate the answer if I get one :).
@pwnz1ng no, i dont think so. I mean you get your arms and hips on a level and push with the arms, i dont think that it is important how long you arms are
when doing a kong vault, is it natural for my weakest hand to come up b4 my strongest one? Or should i work on fixing that to where they come off at the same time?
@algammond, i know what you mean, if you catch your shins its hurts so fricking bad and makes you want to give up, i can do a monkey vault but not very high and i can do a kong vault on a picnic bench lenght ways but i cant clear it i can only land on the table, partly because im too scared to try and actually clear it , somebody PLEASE HELP :/
when i dive my legs cant go trough my hands.they go to a side and then my kong looks like two-handed vault with a dive,of course. sry for bad english.
Sounds like your getting anxiety midway through the vault and afraid that your feet are gonna snag unless you turn to the side. These are 90% mental. Get over that mental discomfort just once. Once you get it right once, it's easy to do it again. Least that's how it was for me. Hope that helps.
please can you help me i seem to always put my feet to side when i tryknoging which meens i cant do it unless there is a soft surface underneath can i have some advice ????????
WTF? EVERYONE IS REPLYING TO AD173 BUT THEIR NOT REPLYING TO ANYONE ELSE. lol AD173, if you look on each page of comments, there is at least 5 replies or something, YOU'RE POPULOR! not. jk
and ummm, i kinda have the same problem as AD173 so thx for the comments! XD
I can do this on a table or something, but i CANT do it on a bar...im so scared :S
its a normal 1 meter hight flat bar(or rail idk if that is the same) but i don't know which style to use..two foot or split foot? im just scared that my toes will get stuck on the bar.I can't do the exercise like on the table.

Tip: whenever you kong try and put your hands as far back to the end of what you're konging so your feet can clear the jump. Thumbs up so beginners can see :)
ozzi you are the best man;D your tutorials helped me a lot after i watched your tutorials i must say that i know perfect monkey, dash, lazy, kong, etc. you are the best man in my historical life
Ok, so I can get the distance but I can't finish because my feet clip the table, am I supposed to let go before I get to that point or do I need to work on pulling my legs in faster/better?
@InSilenceOfEchos I'm just a beginner, but I had the same problem. Try bringing your hips higher. That's what I did and it worked, but I still haven't perfected it.
actually i learned to do kong like this: i get on the table then i jump in the kong position to land in the ground, then i got the swing so could jump without being scared.

So quick question. My legs are really long (im 6' 2") and my arms are pretty short, does this effect my kong vault in any way?
pwnz1ng 11 months ago
@pwnz1ng no, i dont think so. I mean you get your arms and hips on a level and push with the arms, i dont think that it is important how long you arms are

when doing a kong vault, is it natural for my weakest hand to come up b4 my strongest one? Or should i work on fixing that to where they come off at the same time?
MrJofferson 11 months ago
Lucky you guys can do these stuff.

@OnEpicProportions I know! :( But that's why you have to dive with your hips above your shoulders - it's hard but it is a nescesity!! (sp?)

What the heck? I don't feel like doing the 2 leg punch. At 2:06 he barely makes it over the wall, with 1 cm to spare! o_o

I already can do this, but i kissed the floor today cause my jeans :D
obiwanfisher537 1 year ago
@reeeeegz
Sounds like your getting anxiety midway through the vault and afraid that your feet are gonna snag unless you turn to the side. These are 90% mental. Get over that mental discomfort just once. Once you get it right once, it's easy to do it again. Least that's how it was for me. Hope that helps.

@KingOfDawn96 This is kinda good to do, point your FEET backwards while konging and dig with your chest. feels really good :)

@DonMachoz748 There is not diff, although we made a tutorial for it as well. The only difference is the speed you approach with.

Tip: whenever you kong try and put your hands as far back to the end of what you're konging so your feet can clear the jump. Thumbs up so beginners can see :)

lol... the people these days. theres no tutorial for parkour moves, just throw balls without thinking.

Ok, so I can get the distance but I can't finish because my feet clip the table, am I supposed to let go before I get to that point or do I need to work on pulling my legs in faster/better?
InSilenceOfEchos 1 year ago
@InSilenceOfEchos I'm just a beginner, but I had the same problem. Try bringing your hips higher. That's what I did and it worked, but I still haven't perfected it.
