I worked at a household tip in the uk for 4 years and had some great finds including.A whiting co sterling silver tea/coffee pot set, nazi military dress badges, nazi bayonette,WW11 british military helmet,WW11 bomb winch..loads of gold and silver.
People dont know what they are throwing away...best job i ever had.
@dhbiza The good stuff is still out there. It can be very hard to find at times but if you get there early, the odds will be more in your favor of finding something good.
You get there early and stay late or come back right before closing time!! Getting there early is a known good idea. But, if you stick around at the end, people throw things in the garbage or leave it behind, prices come down, a flash of cash can help a seller lighten the load for the trip home, and get you that item for far less! Also, if they like you or know you're sincere you can build a relationship or acuqaintance with the seller and they'll have an item set aside for you next weekend!
WOW ...what a smart idea , im one of those confused guys ,im a picker im a collector and im a dealer all in one , but never thought of buying the vendor spot just to pick the cream !! would not hurt bringing a few things to put out about 10 o clock in your booth by 10 the good stuff is gone to the early birds ...dont show your items until then!
(Recently happened to me) Craig's list add for an Estate Sale specifically states: "Don't show up before 10am (no early birds)." I get there 2 minues before 10am while the people are still setting stuff up outside infront of their garage. At 10am about 5 car doors start to open. Get up to the house, I notice the item I wanted ain't there. "Where is it?" I asked. He says, "Oh, some guy showed up and bought it about 45 minutes ago."
@OliverDeLaEnfield The only way to get great deals later on in the day is probably the smaller stuff you find INSIDE things. Like find the most cluttered stall u can find with interesting things, and start opening every box on spot. Many times there is stuff in them the seller didnt even know about having it. Thats usually the smaller stuff though.
its all about being the early bird at the flea markets for sure. and im never early lol it sucks i sleep late but i do find some good stuff that i guess nobody knows anything about. i found was a guild f-50R worth close to 2 grand wasn't in great shape but if you know what it is you know no matter what shape its in its worth alot. paid 10 bucks for it repair cost me 60 bucks and i sold it for 900. and i bought it around noon time i got lucky
Clever! With what you know about flea markets, have you ever considered writing an e book and selling it on ebay? I have neverdone it. Just wondering.

@kcirdrab I bought the helmet off of Ebay. I never asked the seller the history of the piece.

Good advice. One of my yard saling axioms is "If you're on time....you're LATE".
