Why is it colder in Charlotte, NC than Las Vegas. Las Vegas has a higher elevation(2001 ft.) compared to Charlotte's 750 ft. It also has a slightly higher latitude than Charlotte. Can anyone tell me why? I know it's a real nerdy type of question.

At mid latitudes like the united states the wind is predominately westward, Las Vegas is close to the west coast and recieves warmer air over the ocean, by the time time the air crosses the colder land mass and reaches charlotte on the east the air is colder.

I just finished a book called Deep Freeze by Thom Racina. It was a pretty awful read but described several feet of snow, bitter cold then then thaw in LA. I'll check back when they get seven feet.

Snow in Vegas lol I live in Philly and we haven't had a decent snow in years. Global warming is here.....news flash it wasn't bullshit.
