  • Unavailable as far as I know on CD, but one of my favorite tunes of all-time. Christopher Cross won the Grammy Grand Slam with his debut album and the tune Sailing, which he wrote.

  • It's still a beautiful version of the song. Can't take that away from him!!!

  • I'm looking for this CD Learning to Love on Columbia Records 1982.

  • Is Rodney Franklin still alive in 2010?

  • This...is sooooooooo beautiful. I love it. Hey,....wWhat if Christopher Cross sang this version with Rodney Franklin. That would be awesome!! God bless you.

  • Sounds nice but imo. Christopher Cross version is the best, without a doubt ;-)

  • Didn't Christopher Cross do this song too?

  • @barnesfam Yes. Not sure if he's the one who wrote it. Great song done by both.

  • wonderful! thanks for upload!

  • such a great cover from such a talented artist.

  • Astoundingly ! Amazingly! creative music Rodney. Your Magnificant! playing this tune. Thanks for posting.

  • Great upload ~ haven't heard it in years! Had the LP, lost it, This is great to hear again, thanks!

  • George Benson just recorded an outstanding version of this on his new album Songs and Stories. It was produced in Brazil by guitarist Toninho Horta. There's also another nice jazz vocal version by drummer Lenny White featuring Nicki Richards singing on his album Renderers of Spirit (1996). Rodney's version strays away from the serenity of Christopher Cross' original, capturing more of the majestic feel of sailing on the water. I guess I just prefer a mellower musical portrait. He can play, tho!

  • @QuickStix... I agree. Not a bad rendition, must be played in the right mood though. I really like the mellow vibe to the other versions I've heard. George Benson's was nice, Avant did a nice cover (the first version I heard) and another by Big Bub. Just search for them here on youtube.

  • Excellent song man!... Thanks for upload it!

  • can anyone post the tracks featuring stanley clarke, please...

  • I agree this is a fantastic cover. I remember listening to this back in the day.

  • wonderful

  • greetings,
