Unavailable as far as I know on CD, but one of my favorite tunes of all-time. Christopher Cross won the Grammy Grand Slam with his debut album and the tune Sailing, which he wrote.
This...is sooooooooo beautiful. I love it. Hey,....wWhat if Christopher Cross sang this version with Rodney Franklin. That would be awesome!! God bless you.
George Benson just recorded an outstanding version of this on his new album Songs and Stories. It was produced in Brazil by guitarist Toninho Horta. There's also another nice jazz vocal version by drummer Lenny White featuring Nicki Richards singing on his album Renderers of Spirit (1996). Rodney's version strays away from the serenity of Christopher Cross' original, capturing more of the majestic feel of sailing on the water. I guess I just prefer a mellower musical portrait. He can play, tho!
@QuickStix... I agree. Not a bad rendition, must be played in the right mood though. I really like the mellow vibe to the other versions I've heard. George Benson's was nice, Avant did a nice cover (the first version I heard) and another by Big Bub. Just search for them here on youtube.
Christopher Cross wrote and sang this song on his debut album for which he won the "Grammy Grand Slam" I belive the only artist in history to do so.
