No problem. I have this game complete in box. The manual talks about dropping the chandeliers but I don't know if it tells you how to do it. I just was pressing a bunch of random combinations and then it happened.
Not only that, but if you can time it just right, Marv or Harry are knocked out when the chandelier falls directly onto them. Thus, instead of a one time use, you can get 2 uses out of each chandelier. It's so tough to time it just right and wait for someone to walk below while watching to the left or right for them if they're on the same floor as you.

You can hide in any of the designated spots as long as you like. But once they enter the room you're hiding in twice, it can't be hid in anymore. You'll be hiding and they'll "see" you the third time.

There's only one level and it lasts 20 real minutes. Since many people don't know about the ability to hide, it's considered hard. It seriously took me ~11 years to finally pass it (even while hiding).
Yup, it's part of the game. :) Use the Up arrow when over those spots. And when you're in the attic, stand above one of the chandeliers, hold the Down arrow, and press the "pick up trap" key to make it fall. It's the best trap in the game since it lasts the longest.

I never knew there were eight hiding spots. The four I knew were the two on floor two, the christmas tree, and the left spot on the attic. I never knew that the basement had hiding areas. I so remembered trying to get by the thieves and getting caught due to trap shortage.

Hold DOWN and press A. You can pick up the chandeliers when they have fallen and place them somewhere else.

You can hide in any of the designated spots as long as you like. But once they enter the room you're hiding in twice, it can't be hid in anymore. You'll be hiding and they'll "see" you the third time.
