The choke wasn't bad at all. The hosts vision will go black/white, then tunnel vision sets in, before he just goes to sleep. If the choke is applied well, it can take as little as 6-10 seconds. If the choke is released, he will be back to his old self in like 30 sec-1 minute. There are no known side effects to it, the brain handles it just fine. Of course, if the choke is not released, it's a different story indeed.
The problem here is that Hulk stupidly dropped the sleeping guy. Very bad.
I think Belzer fell over on purpose. You notice how he seemed to very deliberately slip out of Hogan's grasp there? And I doubt that if he were really in shock like he said he was, he would have had enough presence of mind to call for a commercial break like he did. Belzer set Hogan up from the looks of it.

Also, in the hold, he splayed his arms out to show that he was fine, or in no danger, and then went to sleep. Belzer and Hogan both messed up.
The 80's were a different time, they tried really hard to protect the business........faces and heels traveled separetly, if some one challenged you to a bar fight-you didn't back down, and everybody had that old school mentality.

Wrestlers spend years learning how to do these things *without* hurting people--which means they know exactly how *to* hurt people with them.
If it hadn't been a sleeper, he could have put a hammerlock on him and broken his arm or separated his shoulder, or any of several other basic and seemingly-safe holds needing no cooperation.

The choke wasn't bad at all. The hosts vision will go black/white, then tunnel vision sets in, before he just goes to sleep. If the choke is applied well, it can take as little as 6-10 seconds. If the choke is released, he will be back to his old self in like 30 sec-1 minute. There are no known side effects to it, the brain handles it just fine. Of course, if the choke is not released, it's a different story indeed.
The problem here is that Hulk stupidly dropped the sleeping guy. Very bad.

Also, in the hold, he splayed his arms out to show that he was fine, or in no danger, and then went to sleep. Belzer and Hogan both messed up.

Yes, wrestling is a work. But Belzer made an idiotic mistake in first pissing off Hogan by ripping into him and then letting Hogan put *any* kind of hold on him. Wrestlers spend years learning how to do these things *without* hurting people--which means they know exactly how *to* hurt people with them.
If it hadn't been a sleeper, he could have put a hammerlock on him and broken his arm or separated his shoulder, or any of several other basic and seemingly-safe holds needing no cooperation.
