Meine Güte ist das knuffig. Wenn man bedenkt, dass wir knapp 200 Jahre später mit den Nachfolgern dieses Teils mit fast 400 Sachen durch Europa rasen?
5 Sar enjoyable, and what a great rendition of the Rocket for this film (I hope its available?) Funny how people become bolt counters without reading the description first.
Anyway what good entertainment and a credit for those who made it all those years ago.
Just looks like a mock up made for the movie. Notice when operating there is no exhaust steam going up the chimney, notice the absense of cylinder drain cocks and the absense of guage glass and try cocks on the boiler backhead. .This engine would have been powered by a Model T Ford engine. If you kook closely enough you will see that the only powered wheels are the locomotive trailing wheels under the footplatewhich have a differential housing
For a one time movie that was a fine replica. It is not like people in a 1923 will walk out of the movie because it was not exactly like the real one. It look a lot like it and it is not like everyone is going to see that. And you can not argue that those where some of the best steam locomotive stunts ever. Hats off to the maker of it.
Thanks for the comment, this movie was in in the middle of the night and I hit record once I realized what I was seeing, I agree with steamboy51. I didn't catch the movie early enough so missed a few of the railroad scenes. Have to check to see if the film is public domain, it might be
This....is the most cleverly orchestrated and good hearted thing I have EVER seen.
FANTASTIC work, just fantastic, and I love the rendition of stephensons' locomotive. Fairly accurate too, and this looks like a real-deal steamer. wonder who built it.
@steamboy51 Keaton loved railroading, and he had a thorough knowledge of the subject; besides the accuracy of the locomotive, the parody of the rough track conditions of the early American railroads is something that only a railroad historian would really be able to fully appreciate. As far as the construction of the locomotive goes, it was probably built by a local boilermaker, like the Dixon Boiler Works.

I think the little brooms in front of the drive wheels is hilarious. An accurate and hilarious portrail of the hazards of early railroading!

This is adorable. That's the only word I can think of to describe it! The whole railway built over a log as a bump in the track. Priceless!

It is not even a good replica. Rocket never ran on rails with sleepers, only stone blocks.

What a fabulous bit of film, and interestingly note the American style use of wood, rather than coal, for the fire. Thanks for posting.

FAKE. Since when was the rocket ever looked like or did that. Its senseless to call this from the actual event

@toyotaprius79 check out the description of the video, it's REPLICA built for the 1923 film. Oh how I hate having to repeat myself
